    Great video! I travelled across Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway in September last year with my Street Triple, such beautiful country's. Now I've traded my Street Triple for the Tiger 800 XRX, which will be delivered next week!
    This year I will travel in Switzerland and Italy (mostly across the Alps) with the Tiger, but in the future I will most certainly go to Norway again!

      Thanks for the message. The Triumph naked bikes are surpringly good for touring. I rode my old Speed Triple from the UK to Sardinia in 2 1/2 days a couple of years ago - with my brother who was on his Street Triple! The Tiger brings a lot more comfort and capability though, it is a great bike for touring on and still good fun. Have a great time in the Alps this year, but I can understand why going back to Norway is also on the list! What an incredible place.

      Hi Karsten, thanks for the comment, good to know you liked the video. My last bike was a Triumph Speed Triple and I have to admit that I miss the power sometimes, but I've got no regrets. This is a fantastic bike for covering long distances in great comfort, but is still small enough to cut through the traffic - and to pick up if you drop it! It does everything, goes everywhere and does it incredibly well. I love it!

    Unfortunately "Triumph Italy" has not approved wheels are suitable to use the Tiger 800 XC / XCX / XCA in the land for which has been designed this fantastic bike. The only possible use in Italy is on an asphalt road. OFF road is absolutely not possible because of the lack of approval of suitable tires. Shame to see that the rest of the world does not have these problems ...
    Perhaps the problem is due only to the managers of Italian Triumph.

    Loving my new XRT & looking forward to my first European road trip this summer. It looks like you have handlebar risers on your XC, am I right? If so have which ones and have they improved the riding position?

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад

      Hi Phil, the Tiger is a really rewarding bike for long distances on the road, I'm sure you'll love the bike even more when you're on the big trip! Funnily enough, I haven't put bar risers on yet but I am going to, just to improve the riding position when I'm up on the pegs. I think I'm most likely to go for the Rox risers, from the Adventure Bike Shop. They're bit more expensive than spacer systems like the SW Motech ones, but offer more adjustment.

    Great video! I have an Alaska trip planned for 2018 but I'm thinking a Euro trip is in order for 2019. I loved the train scene. How did you go about planning? Did you just buy tickets as you needed them or did you make reservations?

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад +1

      c0tor1r Alaska? Sounds great! I've got a friend who cycled from North Alaska to Mexico and his photos look amazing - he loved it and came back with some cracking stories to tell. If you search for 'Slade Ride' you can find his blog, his name is Jon Slade.
      Planning a trip is not one of my stronger points! Before leaving I booked passage from the UK to Sweden on a commercial ship and booked the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, but apart from that, the planning was minimal. I didn't book any accommodation, but I made sure I was travelling outside school holiday times, which makes it much easier. I find travelling without too many restrictions very liberating, but it doesn't suit everyone. For me it makes the trip stress free, whereas for some people it sends their stress levels sky high!

      Hi Mike, thanks very much, great to hear you enjoyed the video. The bike was superb and continues to be a joy. I have got the standard screen fitted, which works fine for me. I ride with the seat in the high position and I'm about 5ft 10 or 11 (i haven't measured myself!). Since the trip I have replaced my crash helmet with a helmet with a peak and I still don't notice too much buffeting except in strong side winds.

    Great video , I’m in dilema of the xcx or xrt, xrt is a perfect fit and 90% of riding will be tarmac , is there that much difference apart from the 21inch wheel?

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  5 лет назад

      Hi Mario, thanks for your meassage. In my experience the 21 inch wheel does not make too much difference to the the road handling, but certainly is better for off road use. Regardless of wheel sizes, I would definitely go for ther XCx for the suspension - the WP is great!

    Great video. 2 questions for you... How often do you check/adjust your chain on a journey like this? And what tools do you take with you?

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад +1

      Hi David, as I was racking up a fair distance every day, I checked the chain, oil and tyre pressures every other day. It's a routune that's very easy to get in to and only takes about 5 minutes while you have a cup of coffee. I didn't take too many tools, just enough to get me out of trouble if I was in the middle of nowhere. Spare inner tubes and some tyre levers, mole grips, compressor for pumping up tyres (a cheap one!), a few assorted hand tools to supplement the standard Triumph kit and a whole load of cable ties. If you want a full list of everything I took, drop me an email to davd@dynamobang.co.uk and I'll send the list to you.

    was all this trip pre planned such as routes and ferries etc ?,, apart from the ferries I book nothing and plan no routes and just see where I end up . but this can end up being quite stressful at times and I end up riding near places of interest without knowing. . im off round Europe again in june and im thinking of planning the whole trip including routes and campsites

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад

      Hi Chris, the only things I booked were the commercial ship from the UK to Sweden and the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn. Apart from that I had a very rough idea for a route and that was it. I enjoy the freedom of travelling with as few limitations as possible and the ability to change route whenever I see a great looking road. Some nights I free (wild) camped and some nights I looked for a camp site. I travelled with road atlas, but no sat nav. It works for me and I find it very stress free.

    Hiya Id love to do something similar. How did you go about booking a commercial ticket to Norway or Sweden?

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  5 лет назад

      Hi David. I booked direct with DFDS from Immingham to Gothenburg. the sailings are termed 'commercial ferries' and are best booked well in advance to make sure you get the crossing you want. It was actually very straightforward to do. The accommodation and the food are also good, but don't expect much in the way of entertainment onboard! Take a book and maybe some downloaded films and it will be an enjoyable experience.
      If there's anything further I can help with, please get in touch.

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Mario, I had a couple of issues when the bike was still quite new. Since those issues were sorted out, it has run for about 30,000 miles (48,000 Km's) so far with no major problems. In terms of parts wearing out, so far I have need new head bearings, new rear wheel bearings and I have recently fitted the third chain and sprocket set. I am pretty sure that the only reason that the head and rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced is that I actually ride my bike off the road. I am very happy with the reliability of the bike and didn't hesitate to take it on this solo trip.

      @dynamobang9226  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Antonio. I am about 180cms and the fit is great for me. It's obviously a very personal preference, but if you can manage to get a test ride on one, I would recommend it. Also, try to get a test ride for a couple of hours if you can, then you'll get a good idea of whether the position is right for you on long journeys. Also, you can pull the rubber inserts out of the pegs to give you just a little extra leg room if you need it.

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад

      Hi Gordon, glad you enjoyed the video. Most of the Scandinavian countries are great for free / wild camping. As long as you're not on farmed land or too close to houses, you're unlikely to get bothered at all. I understand that the right to wild camp in those countries is legally protected, but you may want to check that's correct! I didn't have any problems at all.

    • @-Mohog
      @-Mohog 5 лет назад

      Hi, I'm replying about 1 year after it seems, but just wanted to say, that you are right Dynamobang. It is indeed legally protected at least here in Finland and I'm pretty sure there are similar laws in Sweden and Norway as well. You can also pick berries and mushrooms etc. freely anywhere you want, as long as you don't go too close to houses and people's yards. Those rights are so called "every man's rights" in here.
      Nice video btw. I wish I can get a chance to do something similar in the future as well. First I need a bike though, as I don't own one yet. I'm really loving the Tiger 800 XC series after watching a lot of videos and reviews of it. Seems like an awesome bike with pretty much everything one can hope for an adventure bike.

    Great video, did you do it all with out a satNav, how do you rate the Triumpd suit?
    TIA

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад +2

      No SatNav, just an outline rough route plan and a road map. I enjoy the unpredictable nature of the 'follow your nose' method of navigation and the freedom it gives. Having said that, a SatNav would have been handy in some of the cities! Regarding the suit, I'm really happy with it. Once, it's worn in a bit it's very comfortable and it has proved to be both tough and waterproof. There's plenty of ventilation in the jacket for summer use, but with the liners in I've ridden in temperatures well below freezing point with no problems. I would buy the same again with no reservations.

    Hi Mate,Great Video, I have a 2016 Tiger 800 xcx, what a bike, most of my riding here in Australia is off road and it just eats it up, you mentioned you have done a bit of off road on your Tiger, just wondering what tyres you have or recommend and what suspension settings you have, WP suspension I must say makes a world of difference! Cheers Marcus

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Marcus, I completely agree - the XCx is a great bike. At the moment I'm running Michelin Anakee 3 tyres, which are good general purpose tyres and last really well. The current set have done about 12,000 miles (about 19,000 Km's), but will need replacing soon. They've been so good for the riding I do that I'll probably go for the same again. Regarding suspension settings, I set the suspension up the same way I've always done my mountain bikes, just go to a rough track, ride, tweak the adjustments, ride again and repeat until it feels right! I haven't taken any notes of the settings, I just get it how I like it and then adjust when necessary (such as when fully loaded). Once the WP suspension is set, it just gets even better.

    Hi m8 thinking of buying a 2015 800 XCX what is the pros n cons on the bike in your opinion? got any problems/issues with it so far? how many miles do u have on the ODO so far? Regards Roger in Sweden aiming for Nordkapp summer 2017

    • @dynamobang9226
      @dynamobang9226  7 лет назад

      Hi Roger, I have only had one problem with the bike, which was dealt with under warranty. The immobiliser failed, fortunately at home. My local dealer sorted it out with no difficulties. Apart from that, I've got nearly 22,000 miles on the clock and the bike has been great.
      In terms of pro's and con's, I enjoy riding the bike for any reason at all. Whether it's revving the engine as hard as possible and trying to get the pegs scraping, or riding down the highways, loaded with luggage and with cruise control on, it's all fun! Of course, it doesn't have the torque of a litre bike and I wouldn't attempt an enduro on it, but for touring, having fun and relatively easy going off road, I love it. Oh and it's not too difficult to pick it up on your own if you do drop it!I have got no plans to change it for anything else.
      Whatever bike you ride, have a great trip up to Nordkapp, Norway is amazing - as is north Sweden.

      That was my pretty much my thought process as well, although the Africa Twin didn't existwhen I got the Tiger and the BMW was the previous version. If I was buying again now, I think I would still go for the Tiger. It's a great blend of everything you need for adventure travel in comfort, and at a reasonable weight. I highly recommend it.
