Your video reminds me of life long ago. I belong to a clan of farmers in Panay Island. I started to help working in the farm may be as young as five years old. The first stage really is preparing a seed bed for the rice seedlings. As a kid, I was assigned to watch this seed bed from sunrise to sunset to drive away chickens and wild birds from picking the seeds. After the seedlings have sprouted and long enough for the chickens to loose interest, I have to watch it to drive away cows, carabaos and goats that will attempt to graze on the seedlings. When the rice fields are ready for planting, with the guidance of my mother, help the adults pull and bundle the seedlings carefully. I was then tasked to bring these bundles to the paddies as the adults are busy planting these seedlings by hand. As I grow older, my task got heavier as shown by the rest of your video. I am now an American citizen and permanently residing in California. Rice is still my major staple. I revere every grain of rice in my table for each grain represents each drop sweat of farmers to bring this crop to our table.
+Willie Macawili Thank you for your comment, and it is so true, every single grain on the plate is usually eaten and never wasted as the people here know the work that was involved to produce it.
That’s awesome Thankyou. I’m sat here on a Saturday afternoon in the UK, you have answered many questions. It’s such a different way of life. Top Vlog thanks.
@@lateefayinla2412 I'm sorry I can't answer that question as the people who owned the bigger Rice fields use to hire the men and machines when they needed them, they didn't actually own any machines themselves
This reminded me of how it used to be in the farmlands out my front door. Now, with changing times, things have become more automated. Ford tractors are taking the place of the carabao. Rice planters are being used at planting time and at harvest time, they have reapers that come around. It takes a toll on the local labor that depended on the jobs that were provided during planting and harvesting. I wonder how long the area you are in Makoy will survive before technology takes over.
