Kelly, you are a very courageous person. I am a 69 years old Asian male and have chronic stuffy nose caused by allergy of pollens. I got Meniere’s disease about a year ago. My symptoms were very similar to yours 15 years ago but without migraines. Few months ago, I searched the web for treatment and noticed a popular folk recipe from Hong Kong. A vast majority in those blogs said it to be effective. Some claims that it cures them while very few said it has no effects. I started trying it two months ago and found my Meniere attacks became much milder right after a few drinks. I still feel weak and have some anxiety during the attack but did not have vertigo, deep fatigue, and nausea. For now, I still have these attacks about once a week but much less frequent than before. If it happens, I am able to recover after 2 or 3 hours of bed rest instead of ~24 hours. I feel I continue to improve. My head feels more relaxed and tinnitus is much reduced. Live is much more livable under this treatment for me. I have not tried to change my diet with respect to salt, wheat, and milk during this time. The recipe is very simple: 250 gm of raw Chinese black soybean (such as Wei-Chuan Organic Black Soybean 14 oz, available in Asian market or online) 250 gm of raw white rice 400 gm of fresh ginger before peeling (I think more is more effective but the taste degrades.) Water to fill ~¾ of a 8-quart pot. Few dashes of turmeric powder on each cup (such as TRADER JOE'S ORGANIC GROUND TURMERIC-2 OZ) While preparing a pot of boiling water, I rinse the soybeans under water and then stir fry them (without oil) in a stainless-steel pan under medium heat until most of the peels split and the meat turns slightly yellow. (The beans will stain the pan.) The beans are then poured into the pot of water. Next step is to stir fry the rice without washing and without oil until they turn slightly yellowish. This step needs to be more careful because the rice is easier to burn. They are also put into the pot. The ginger is peeled and diced coarsely and added the pot. The water is then brought to a boil and simmered for two hours with the pot mostly covered. The pot should be maintained ¾ full by adding water. After the bean soup is cooled for ~half hour, it is pureed into smoothie and kept refrigerated. I drink a cup of this bean soup once in the morning and once in the evening. Before drinking, I warm it up in a microwave for 1 minute and add few dashes of turmeric powder and mix. It has a present taste. I have not tried to stop this treatment.
Oh wow, thank you so much for sharing. I love that you shared teh recipe too. I am *thrilled* that eating this bean soup has helped the meniere's symptoms. What we put in our mouth 100% affects our body.
Kelly your story always encourages. I have been watching your videos but unable to properly comment as I am experiencing ‘autistic burnout’. I found what you were saying about how life may be today encouraging as tomorrow doesn’t exist till we get there and then it becomes a new day. Sometimes when we feel stuck in our world of swirl we seem to lose some much needed hope. Thank you for sharing your story and experiences because it does bring back that much needed hope in times when it seems lost.🙏🙏
I looked up autistic burnout. That sounds really rough and wearing. No worries at all about not commenting. I appreciate that you are there and watching. It is so true that we can get lost in our world of swirl and lose hope. Its somethign I go back to every day - to live today , not tomorrow, today. We go through so much today, it's actually the most compassionate thing we can do for ourselves, to stay in today and not burden ourselves with tomorrow! Sending a hug your way.
@ Kelly autistic burnout is terrible but it is okay. What we go through in life is to help others and you are helping more than you know. Somehow in the midst of everything there is that quiet voice that cares and helps us along the way and we may at times feel alone physically but we definitely are not. It takes a lot of strength to show what you show and never give up. If you can help me you can help everyone. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Finding someone who empathizes with balance and/or vestibular disorders patients is rare but very welcome. Going to appointments can be very debilitating and have someone who is aware of it makes it better if only a bit. I'm glad you are doing better now, allegies are so annoying. Vestibular compensations takes its time but I'm sure you will get there soon, your attitude and strenght are remarkable and inspiring. "Living today", thanks again for sharing Kelly. 💯
I remember when you told me about that vertigo attack in privat back then. I whas thinking to myselve that i hoped it whasnt the other ear having meniers to. I remember not telling you my thought to not freak you out even more. Oh lol that laughing spell with your mom whas funny. I can imagine allergys being strong enough to give sutch severe reactions. Big hugs Marloes ❤❤❤
Hey there! I just found out i have a PFO a small hole in the upper chamber of my heart. Its causes Migraine and dizziness. They go un diagnosed all the time. I needed a echocardiogram for another reason and they added a bubble test to my echocardiogram and found the small hole. I am 52. I thought my vertigo and dizziness was perimenopause related. It is not. They now can close the hole and said it should stop my vertigo and migraines as little air bubbles can push through and go up to the brain triggering migraines, vertigo and dizziness and balance issues. Thought id share. These little hole should close at birth, in some of us they dont. Anyways maybe a solution for you also. 😊
I'm so happy to see you commenting! How wonderful that you discovered the reason behind the Migraine & dizziness! That is fantastic that you are going to be able to get it fixed once teh close the PFO. Thank you for sharing. I've been aware of PFO adn how it relates to Migraine. I've had an echocardiogram, so I'm guessing I don't have one, but I'll mention it to my cardiologist the next time I see him. i've never had a bubble test. Please keep me updated. When are you gogni to have it closed?
I do not have bilateral meniere's. I have it in my right ear only. The symptoms of bilateral meniere's would be to have meniere's symptoms in both ears: vertigo, hearing loss (starts in the low frequencies), ear pain, ear fullness, tinnitus ect. (I do not have any hearing loss, ear pain, ear fullness, tinnitus in my left ear.)

I have to return to the "living today" every single day or otherwise I can easily start spiraling.
That is so wild. I’m so glad it went away though. Praise the lord. Is this something you’ve gotta be concerned about each spring season
Me too. I'm not going to anticipate it, but if it happens next spring, I'll know what is happening.
Laughter is good for the soul. ❤❤
yes! soooo good.
I remember wiping all that green “tree pollen” off of the outdoor furniture at that time. Good to be reminded of that hysterical laughing. 😂
the laughing is the best.
