It would be very cool to see you as a guest on Andertons and also TPS. Your channel may be relatively new, but the combination of your playing, presentation, style and production quality are so far ahead of most other demo channels - on a level with Demos in the Dark and Mark Hermmans - that you deserve introducing to a wider audience.
Another amp to consider is the Bluguitar Amp1. I gig and it even often beats out very nice tube amps in the studio to make it on our MAJIK BAND recordings. It is a fantastic Amp.
I have the V140 (a few weeks now) and I've had the Milkman The Amp 100 for probably a year. First, the 100-watt Milkman has a different character from the 50. It's kinda Deluxe Reverb to Twin Reverb to my ears. As such the 100-watt Milkman I think gets a bit closer to the V140 in that they both have an open and airy quality with a punch that just seems to require the higher wattage. The V140 is definitely superior, but I'm not sure it should be an apples-to-apples comparison. If I view the Milkman as a more pure pedal platform, it's REALLY good, but that also means it's not as good as the V140 at being a plug your guitar straight in and it's enough amp. The V140 has the character and the power and can be a pedal platform amp if you set it that way, but I think that would be missing the point of a 100-watt all-tube head. Different tools for different jobs! The V4 sounds really good as well but not fair for me to judge too much given the hands-on experience with the other two. I definitely do think the 100-watt Milkman is WAY better than the 50-watt version and especially in a head-to-head with the V140. I could play with the 100-watt Milkman into my JBL 1x12 (circa ~1990) and pedals and be just fine, but I'd definitely prefer the V140, unless I have to carry it too much! :)
Hello Sasha! I'm a little late here but would be thankful if you could help me with that question: Which one (V4 Duchess // Milkman the Amp) do you think it would be a better pedal platform?? I'm stuck between these two Thanks in advance! Edit: In the video, to me, all the pedals sounded kinda "muddy" with the Milkman (at least compared with the V4), but it could be just a settings thing, am I trippin?
Can the difference between the solid state poweramp of the V4 and the valve poweramp of the V140 be heard? I still have to decide between them. What is your suggestion?
I am sure that in a mix the small amps would sound great, but I was listening to this without looking and every time I heard a sound go from good to great it was when you switched to the V140.
Bit late to the party here, but how would you compare the V4 and the Milkman to the Blackstar St James considering similar functionality and price range? Hope you can clarify this to me, as I know you like the Blackstar St James, thanks! Great playing and review as always.
I'm even later to the party! Did you find your answer elsewhere? I'm very interested in the V4 as my band is going fully amp less and straight into the PA moving forward
Don’t know why this has just dawned on me.. seeing you with the Dane, how is it you don’t have a signature pedal??! (maybe you do but I haven’t seen it) - Ivana Fuzz ✌️
Fantastic video sir. Everytime I hear that victory it brings up the James Bay feels a fantastic sound. V4 IS DEFINITELY on my wish list pending a few sales.....
The milkman sounds so much more alive and creamy sweet. I though you must have the gain a little higher on the Milkman compare to the V4. I don't own either but I very much preferred the Milkman tone... I've played an actual Milkman creamer in person and it was reminiscent of that experience... just a real sweetness I really prefer. The V4 sounds good, just a bit more transparent and lacking it's own character as much as the Milkman. That's probably a good thing for trying to get a wide range of tones with different pedals, but if I were doing like Blues and Blues Rock vintage rock tones I'd probably go with the Milkman.
I agree with you. The milkman had a real nice low end with that creamy tone... I wonder if the 100w version would be a better choice. Have you tried the two before? cheers
Thank you for this. I always find it frustrating when listening to pedal amps as there are always tradeoffs. The Duchess seems balanced but a bit anemic in cleanish tone, projection and personality. The Milkman is full and rich sounding but put the gain above slightly pushed and it gets dark and muddy (s**t for chords, rakes and expressive range). They’re getting closer but my tube amps are still the go to despite bulk and weight.
Really helpful vid. There's a V4 pedal near me for $500 and I was going to take a chance on it but hearing this I'm not a huge fan of it in this shootout. The Milkman sounded pretty damn good and seemed to take the pedal better. Maybe better is the wrong word. More naturally? I don't know. The biggest test would be hearing them in context with a band although I do appreciate that's not something you can feasibly do. I learned my lesson with a Tech 21 modeling amp. Sounded okay in the store by itself but on stage, especially next to an actual tube amp, it was absolutely crushed. Sold it after one gig. I play a vibroking, sometimes with an attenuator, and even though it's 70 gd pounds it sounds so flipping good I haven't bothered to really look at other options.
They all sound AMAZING! I wish I could afford the Dutchess head. That amp sounds perfect for what I want from an amp. Definitely going to save up and try the Dutchess V4 to get in that same ball park at a much more attainable price. Awesome playing and u demonstrated those amps very well
This was really helpful, thanks! However, I’m wondering why they sound so much better going through the Boss TAE compared to going direct at the end? Is the only difference really the cab sim?
@@SashaIvantic Man, the difference is crazy. I’m thinking of getting the new Ox Stomp to go with the Duchess v4. Do you think that would give me a similar sound to what you got here with the TAE?
Great video! I have the v40 deluxe, and have been looking for a single channel light weight portable amp for the gigs where you don’t want to take a head and cab. I think the milkman sounds better when paired with the boss cab sim, but the main killer is it doesn’t have a built in cab sim, and no fx loop. I like to run the strymon deco, delay, and modulation pedals through an fx loop on my tube amps and the whole thought process of purchasing an amp like these is to make it so I could grab a very small amp, guitar, board, and load in at the gig in one go. To my ear the milkman sounds more tube amp-like but I’ve already got tube amps that sound more tubey than the milkman. I think I’ll snag a v4 just for the cab sim I could throw in my monitor mix and the fx loop so I wouldn’t need to build another board. I’m also pretty sure in a full band mix I won’t notice too much of a difference, and I’m positive nobody in the audience will notice either lol
I think duchless v4 should better be considered as a preamp instead of a amp with sweety sounds of electron tube . Although it is called “small duchless v40 ”,the sounds are definitely thinner than the big one. However, the price is equal to its sounds ,that is enough.
The Milkman sounds dull with these compared to the other two in this demo. I hope it isn’t tilted toward Victory. And then there’s the chummy email from Mr Anderton, a shareholder in Victory amps. Maybe I’m just imagining it all
The V4 definitely outperforms the Milkman with its Two Notes cab sim built in. Through a cab and cranked the Victory can’t touch the Milkman. But I wasn’t able to show that in my video. It’s been a while since I shot this but if I remember correctly I also mention that in the video
@@SashaIvantic thanks for taking the time to reply. I didn’t watch every second. I was watching through, and then I got a bit fed up for reasons outlined above and skipped around

The Victory V140 so good at cranked settings. Feels satisfying to hear the amp giving up on itself. It’s the sound of love.

Very good review, thanks a lot.
Is there 2 voicings on the V4 like on the V40?
Just came for the playing. Wasn’t disappointed.

I appreciate the simplicty of the Milkman amp. the V140 looks seems like it would frustrate me more than anything else.

True, and the audio frequency range of V4 sounds much less than v40 and milkman.
I’d be super interested in what you think of Quilter’s stuff. They Tone Block series would be (price wise) a competition for these.
Those look very interesting!
Really love your channel, subbed!

Dig the Milkman, dark and lovely. Duchess was too scooped for my tastes, and I'd probably fiddle too much with the software and get annoyed.

Hey man, great demo! Have you tried the Mesa Fillmore? If so, how would that compare to the duchess (either the super, or the pedal)?
Filmore great. but a Mark 1 SOB is more comparable to the milkman. 4 G's.

Finally someone demoing The Amp with a strat instead of a twangy tele. I have the amp and I love it!
Usually I get "could you please demo it with something other than a Strat?" so this was refreshing, thank you.
Is the sound good if sending to digital interface to come out from monitors? Instead of using a normal cab?

I believe the Milkman has a cab sim, at least the current versions do. Also, since it's a clean amp, you could easily run all pedals in front.
How is the headphones out?🎧 Could use the v4 dutchess as a practice amp if the phones out provides a cab sim!
It does and it’s great! I always have the V4 with me on trips.
Would you need an extra cab sim with IRs device to use the V4 live if you don’t wanna use a real cab ?
No you can just go straight to FOH with the xlr!

Biggest letdown is, that the Victory V4 sounded very thin and bad witj fuzz :-O. Where Milkman sounded full and awesome
Really Nice but I need stereo input with my Godin A6 ultra :(
How does the boss katana compare to milkman the amp?
I think they don’t. Totally different devices. But the Katana is a fantastic amp for the money if that’s what you’d like to know 😁
