I just scheduled a Titleist driver fitting for July 29th. I sure hope it’s with the GT line. Thanks for the video!
The gains strike me as coming off a misfit Cobra LTDx rather than a huge gain by going to Titileist GT models from a properly fit driver.
I’ve never been fit. Been playing for 40 years and around scratch since high school. I think after watching this I’m finally gonna go do it. Great video.
Thank you! It's definitely worth it. If you're in Chicago come see us at Mistwood!
I just did my first fitting after 20 years. It’s amazing. Went with TSR3 with Ventus blue velocore+ and a +4 grip to help with heavy draw. I’ve been nailing fairways.
@@zacharywilliams3136 That's a good setup to help with that ball flight! Glad to hear the fitting helped out!
Same thing scratch and just started getting fit the Titleist lineup is solid
Huge gains mate, congratulations!!
Thank you! I honestly wasn't expecting it, I typically would say driving is a strength of mine, but I'll take anything I can get!
Great Video. I just got the TSR2 in February and love it. The tightest dispersion I have ever had with a driver. I have it on the B3 setting with the 10 degree head, and Hzrdus Red CB shaft, stiff 50 g 6.0 shaft. Obviously you posted the best numbers you had with the TSR driver, how did the GT feel compared to the TSR? Loved the video though. Yes fittings are important.
The TSR2 is a really good driver, they feel and look very similar, and I think I cut it out, but we did talk about how TItleist's goal is for their drivers to look and feel the same from year to year, then people just enjoy the benefits of the new technology. I thought that was true, but my biggest thing was when I had mishits (and there was a lot) I just didn't see the ball speed drop or spin increase (misses were bottom heel usually) like I expected.
Excited for you. I got fitted for new irons but Driver is next.. I have a similar swing speed so looking forward to seeing what kind of gains I'll get..
It was impressive to see. I think in general, the driver tech has changed the last year or two and the ball speeds you get on less than perfect hits is crazy good.
I got a Titleist iron fitting a I really enjoyed the process. Ended up T350 irons and I love the feel and repeatability. Great video. I need a driver fitting now.
I did my irons about 6 weeks ago, ended up in T150's, similar reasons, they ball just consistently came out the same, but also my mishits were seeing very similar distances as well which was awesome.
I haven't been fit for a driver in 10 yrs. I was planning on waiting for the GT. Thanks for this helpful video!
Glad it was helpful! I would definitely recommend a fitting, it's crazy how many shaft options are out there and there are lots of great stock and after market options as well!
@@scotthogangolf did you also try their fairway woods and/or hybrids?
@@pgjc756 I did try the fairway woods, Ill do a separate video on those, I saw some gains but I also hit for over 2 hours and it was over 100 heat index on the day, so I would like to hit them again. Same idea though, they look and feel very similar but i noticed mis hits didn't have a huge drop off, I also was able to get the ball a little higher than my current 3w.
Your swing looked more comfortable and confident with the GT3; really nice swing; have been fit multiple times and if you think about how $ golf has become, it is absolutely worth investing in a fitting
100% fitting is important, I see it every day with our awesome fitters at Mistwood, they get people some great results. I don't think it made the cut, but at the start of hitting the GT3, it felt different and I almost was just trying to get it out of my hands. I think I had the thought going in that I was going to be in GT2, but then after hitting it a few times then going back and forth, I really started to like the weight on the bottom. While I wait for mine to come, I've been back on my Cobra and it's been bugging me not having the extra weight now lol.
What was the final verdict for head/shaft combo ? I'm considering a Titleist driver for the first time ever and would love to know .
GT3 with graphite deign vf7 shaft
2.23 - "We believe that the head is the most important component of the club." This is an interesting comment when you consider the variability in flex, torsion, and twist of every shaft attached to that head! #personalthought
The main contribution a shaft makes to a golf club is weight... People overhype shafts. The head is infinitely more important than the shaft. When people find a shaft that they swing well, it's 90% the weight that they are timing properly.
did you try the gt4 after findin the shaft that suited your swing?
I didn’t, just from the initial shots it was pretty clear it wasn’t going to be for me. ball came off too low and too right for me
Great Video, where was your fitting?
Oak brook golf club!
Are you able to express your decision for the 3 vs the 2 por favor?
I will talk more about that in a future video, so stay tuned!
Good fitting. My only problem with trying all 3 models is that first you hit your gamer, then you hit the Titleist, then you've got to narrow down shaft, then loft and surefit and with the GT3 possibly the weight. By the end, that's a lot of balls hit and fatigue comes into play.
GT3. You know my trigger word.
Haha it's mine now too
Feels like a difference in weight. Just like every other brand and every other model. Wow
No embargo?`
Embargo?
Interesting. I have never been fitted for a driver. What'd it cost ya.
This was free. For us at Mistwood where we fit all brands we charge $125 (very worth it in my opinion) but you can also look for events from Titleist where it's usually less and you can fit.
Is GT1 coming?
They didn't say, in the TSR lineup I believe that came later
What’s your swing speed?
106-108 in this video
@@scotthogangolf 162 ball speed is very impressive at 106. I guess I need to get a lot more efficient
Problem with this type of fitting that the focus is on the best shots. I think for amateurs it’s more important to focus on the average shots.
I tried to voice it but a lot of these shots were not great strikes. But also just looking at the end stats too, that would include all the shots no matter how it was hit. That was what I was most excited, I saw some crazy gains on shots that were not struck that well in my opinion.
@@scotthogangolf no problem! Congrats with the improvement!
@@albertroyen7799 I do think you're right and I'd love to have a video one day with a more "average" player and see what we can do with equipment to help them out.
One thing all of these "I GAINED XX NUMBER OF YARDS FROM A NEW DRIVER" have in common is their previous driver didnt fit them well. Its not that this driver is sooo fast or whatever these manufacturers want you to think, you just are spinning it less. 2800 to 2000 will gain anyone a decent chunk of distance, but you could have gained that distance with any brand out there, with their old or new drivers. This is all ignoring the fact that he lowered your spin with lower loft, which also will gain you ball speed. If more people understood how all this works, they wouldnt get so hyped on this stuff...
Without responding to all of this, I'll just say, he went up in loft 1.75 degrees and lowered spin. So you are not correct.
@@scotthogangolf Not according to the video, but lets even say that's true for arguments sake, you were hitting down on your cobra and up on the Titleist, a difference of just under 2 degrees. Also, you had an average 6° open face with your cobra, and a basically square face with the Titleist. Square face and more up will both equate to more club speed and less spin, which obviously result in more distance. Let's quit pretending new drivers are any faster. The answer is always in the numbers, whether that be the club spec numbers or swing numbers.
I don't understand how you've got this online, if it's embargoed until August 1, 2024. You're over a month early - did you get some kind of special permission from Titleist? Definitely not trying to yuck your yum, but if everyone else online has to abide by the same rules, how'd you get around that?
I talked with Titleist before hand to get permission to film and we had a discussion about what is allowed and what isn't. There is plenty that I have that I'm not allowed to show. I've seen others with videos or content showing the exact same thing as I've done here.
Dude, if you are getting 40 yards from a driver fitting these days, your old driver was really not fitted well
40? More like 23. Also things change.
lol lawsuit on the way. But everyone is looking for this content
What do you mean lawsuit?
@@scotthogangolf titleist has an embargo (can’t release footage) until just before release date in Aug. everyone that has had a GT video has gotten taken down. Be careful
@@MABirkeland Interesting, they invited me and asked me to film the video, so I will have to see.
@@MABirkeland I will say, there is stuff I was not allowed to show in the video so maybe those people had that.
Not allowed to show numbers. Best take it down and be safe. Put it back up August 1st.
Why do you think you're one of the only reviews online right now?
Please stop putting labour political broardcast advert lies
What now?
If you had been correctly fit for any top driver , you would have achieved the same. Limits of driver are maxed out off centre hits. They're all good. Just get one that you like the look of .
Maybe that's true, that's why people should go get fit and get correctly fit and see what works for them. But there is a lot of room in getting fit for a proper shaft still, and then dialing in all of the weight settings etc...
