Oh, how I wish I could listen to the whole performance of this opera with Scotto as Vitellia and Troyanos as Sesto! I feel like it would definitely be my favourite recording ever. Pity Scotto didn't do more Mozart. I'd love to hear her entire Vitellia, Elettra or Fiordiligi. Oh, btw who was the conductor? The tempo is painfully slow, especially in the beginning. To me it's the biggest disservice one can do to Mozart, taking things too slow.
Interesting performance. Thank you for this! Even late I found her sound very striking and her interpretive skills undimmed. The role works for her but I do wish she’d done it earlier and maybe at a smaller house and that she’d done some other Mozart. I love hearing Italians in this music though.
I absolutely adore this. Could you please post more from this performance? I woud love to hear all of Scotto's bits... is this from opening night, where Ann Murray stepped in for Troyanos?

I think it’s James Levine at the Met.

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately I only have this aria. I agree that it would be very interesting to listen to the full performance!
