    I have a Evoke 125 fishing yak and I can stand from bow to stern, no problem and casting, I am 5'7 140 soaking wet though. Done all of this to test my yak in shallow water before I went out and encountered the same problems, just like you. :) Love my Kayak! She passed all the test, except with the same problem you dealt with, water in the cargo and hold. But like you said, "Not enough to sink your ship" or maybe you didn't say it, you said, (if you have water in your boat, get it out!)Thanks, I, and others, really appreciate your love for fishing and helping other anglers.

    Could you do a stability video with differently weighted, differently rigged from bare to tournament level?
    I’m pretty sure a lot of people would like to see this with common rigging.

    Best way to flip it back upright is to push yourself down in the water, then launch yourself up across the hull, or on from the stern if you prefer. You can lie there whilst you get your breath back if necessary. Then reach your hands down to grab the side rail and pull the kayak back over. EVERYBODY should practice re-entry on ANY craft in all conditions as the FIRST safety lesson ! Well, OK, maybe not on the Queen Elizabeth, but you get my point. 🤣

    I Tie a 6'rope to H-rail and leave in side pouch. When you flip bring rope over hull put your feet on hull and hold rope and spring back to right your Pa!.

    • @thebrandonrussell
      @thebrandonrussell 3 года назад

      Speaking of rope… I was thinking how well would a “step rope “ be on the back of the boat to help you climb on the kayak in deeper water.
      Oh, and good suggestion for flipping the yak back over.

    Hahahaha! Dude I flipped my PA 14 360 as a test in the pool at home and I was surprised how much water that front hatch took in quickly. Had to use the sponge. Its stable as hell though. I love it.

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  4 года назад +1

      I was a little surprised by the water... but I guess it makes sense. Still stable and definitely not worried about it sinking, but it might get wet lol.

    Since you are an avid Ned fisher, any tips or tricks to stop snags in the rocks on a river bed? Or is that just something that comes with the technique?

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  4 года назад +1

      I get less snags with an ewg ned head than an open hook. Typically I use those on rivers. Lifted Jigs, owner hooks and a few other brands make them. WOO! should have a tungsten one out soon.

    Capsized mine several years ago. Hot my head and shoulders outside the center of gravity and over I went. Capsizing wasn’t a big deal. What I didn’t expect was the front hatch filling with water. If I hadn’t been 20 yards from the shoreline, I would have floated there till help arrived. Stable but once it goes, it can fill with water. I put extra hatch locks on to help maintain the seal when flipped. I also do not carry much in the front hatch any more. Don’t get me wrong, I love my PA14, but don’t trust the stability especially if you are a bigger person. All the guys in these videos look like they font weigh more than a buck seventy five. Just my opinion and opinions vary.

      I plan on buying one here in the next few months but im only about 125lbs so I imagine I could stand anywhere on that kayak and it wouldn't tip. If I got hit by a wave or I got unbalanced sure, I'd go over, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to swamp it unless I try. I also don't plan to weigh it down a ton, at least not for awhile, ill eventually put a graph and trolling motor, but when I get it, all I'll have with me is a couple rods, my tackle box and pfd and maybe a small cooler for my lunch

    Hey man. I’m currently looking at the PA 14 as well. I’m 6’1 280lbs. In your opinion, do you think I would be okay standing on it as well? I can currently stand on a Teton pro 116 but it’s definitely not a safe feeling being on it.

    So had my first accidental flip. When removing the drive move forward with identical points of contact. THIS TIME I did not. Had toes on the deck with one leg and knee with the other. When I returned to the chair I unbalanced to the left and put all the weight on one rail. As it tipped I instinctively pushed away… that compounded the tilt. Other than equal points of contact what did I learn? KEEP THINGS SECURE!! Keep the leash on your drive( had to dive for it and luckily got it back) lost a $1000 phone. Had my pole in hand another$300
