Edric is learning illusions (light blue), potions (yellow) AND beastkeeping (orange). It's better shown in episode 14 but yeah I just wanted to clarify.
I absolutely love how Hunter showed “big bro” characteristics when he was trying to reach out to Gus. The whole clumsy attempt to show empathy and help is just so sweet. 🥹 And well, knowing that Philip’s older brother’s bones are part of him, it makes it so much more bittersweet.
He was forced to mature early. Probably never had a childhood. (can't help but thinking he's got a lot in common with Hordak, even if Hunter never opened a war, etc).
I’m sorry, but who’s Philip? And why’s he have an older brother?? I’m confused?? Edit: Checked the wiki, but how do you know Hunter has a part of Philip/Emperor Belos’s older brother in him? And how would that have an affect on how he acts ? Just DNA or...?
I think Gus' thing was that he feels like he should be the smart one, because everyone keeps telling him how smart he is, but at the same time he keeps making "stupid" mistakes. It's kind of a not living up to expectation thing or a perfectionist thing from my understanding
I related to Gus a lot. I’m academically inclined but gullible as well. It is kind of a perfectionist thing, cuz it’s like, when you could solve additional maths, why couldn’t you figure out that someone was lying to you? Like Gus could see through illusions but not lies, even though for most people it’s the other way around. You question whether these gifts of intelligence were wasted on you, and then overthink that all the time and money invested in your education was meaningless cuz you turned out like this. It took a while to understand that academic, discipline and social smarts were different, and to make peace with it.
@@Sharkie03 The problem is that society teaches that it's always the victim's fault. If you are deceived, you are the "sucker", "an idiot", because "the world belongs to the smart ones".If people don't want to be friends' to you, you're the only one to blame, and so it goes. I heard this kind of junk througout my whole life, so it's amazing that a cartoon finally teaches how wrong that is.
So Gus is so OP, when his self esteem insecurities trap him in a maze of bad thoughts. He not only literally manifests this around him. Based on his memories. He can cause others to become trapped by their own insecurities. Also Ed is in 3 covens. The sleeves are orange (Beastkeeping) and yellow (Potions).
Someone on another video made a comment that Illusion is treated as the weakest magic. For this, no one ever tried to improve it. Even the head witch uses an amplifier and has to rely on soldiers and lies. If Gus was able to control his powers that mean Illusion magic can create Labyrinths and trap you in your worst memories. Thats scary af.
God I just saw this episode. Feels great that Hunter is letting the students in on what the Emperor’s really doing. Belos better not get his hands on Hunter again cuz he’s suffered long enough.
Am I the only one that really likes Hunter’s fighting style it’s so fast and slick and he’s still learning how to use a normal staff but it still looks so cool
@@ZeezVovGee2 you just reminded me of Eda’s and Lilith’s fight and how cool it was now that I think about it Hunter and Eda’s magic looks quite similar at least when he’s using flapjack
19:52 I'm pretty sure what made Gus start laughing at Hunter was the way he was unintentionally whistling from the missing tooth when trying to copy the breathing trick. I also loved how Severine straight-up told the other guys "I QUIT," took off her mask, and left grumbling about staying in a different coven. Kinda funny how she just dropped them because she'd been getting so much shit from superiors and other guards.
Fun fact: Severine was voiced by Dana Terrace. What you wanna bet she might have been blowing some steam given how the episodes they were allowed to make were reduced by Disney?
@@stephanie5963 If that's the case, I sure as hell wouldn't blame her. Disney really needs to learn to leave their shows alone if they don't wanna be yelled at by producers and audiences alike.
have you noticed that, very subtly, characters are starting to use glyphs? mainly Luz’s friends, since she probably introduced the glyphs to them. first it was amity (plant glyph; helping luz pick flowers for her dad), then it was hunter (another plant glyph; helping her escape from belos), and now gus (fire glyph; helping hunter escape from the coven guards). it’s so cool seeing luz’s influence and stuff being used by her friends, even though they can do magic.
One thing I really enjoy about hunter and willow interactions is how he still calls her “captain” like she’s earned his respect and clearly acknowledges her strength and knowing hunter, ranks are very important to him so calling her that shows he really likes and respects her
About fake Willow not knowing Gus's nickname: I think Luz was the first person to give him that nickname, when she first snuck into Hexside in Season 1. It was presented as a special human realm thing! Of course Gus loved it and all the kids have just rolled with it since then. So the coven scouts may not just be unfamiliar with Gus's specific nickname, but the idea of nicknames in general.
I don’t know, I mean it did seem that way, but we get nickname for other characters that of course had them long before Luz arrived at the Isles. Like Lilith being called “Sweet Flea” by her mom or “Lily” by Eda. Another ex. Is Eda’s nickname for Raine, Rainestorm. So I do believe nicknames did exist before Luz came, but I agree with your idea that it’s still unfamiliar as maybe it not common for most witches to have nicknames.
I honestly *loved* The development between Amity and Willow in this episode. It was about time our new and kindhearted Amity saw the real Willow! As much as I love Hollow Mind, I think this is my new favourite episode so far.
What I got from this epizode. Terra isn't the worst coven head. She atleast had respect for others. But Adrian is arrogant jerk. Hexide joining bad girl coven. Gus Is buld different. (I mean he can give others PTSD flashback)
I think that Gus may read others' emotions. He may give them what they fear most or what they want to see, like he did to that Glandus kid who wanted his dad's attention.
I'm happy that Hexide is giving students mixed coven classes that's a really great change to this crooked system that Belos established. I was honestly relieved that Hunter was safe but he was living a homeless lifestyle and now that he's telling the students an Principal Bump on what's to come on the Day of Unity, we might have a chance of a possible uprising against Belos and that would join Raine's Grouop along with Darius and Eberwolf. We're down to 3 episodes of this Season and my lord this episode was the last of any lighthearted episodes that we're ever going to see an we're heading into the unknown that is the Day of Unity. I'm scared guys.
Bump never agreed much with Belos' ways, he covered Eda when she asked him to let Luz enter school ("I'm a principal, not a stooge). And the fact that the Bat Queen trusted the palismans to him speaks volumes.
1:49 I’m pretty sure Willow is hiding there to get away from fellow abomination kids for picking on her for being “half a witch” and not being good at magic
I'm glad to see that Gus is getting out of the label of simple comic relief in order to become a more complex character. And this time without lumity in de middle as the last time. Also, I will wait the memes of blue eye Gus with megalovania at the background
This episode might be one of my favorites just because of how magic is used in it. It's been a while since we've seen a lot of good combat with coven magic, since the glyphs have been getting so much attention in season 2. And the Coven Scouts usually just use magic like guns, shooting fire or something out of their spell circles, but in this episode they're using construction, plants, illusions, etc. It's good to see that the continuity of the Emperor's Coven having access to all forms of magic isn't being sidelined. Also, did anyone else come up with their own names for each of the Coven Heads while we wait for them to be revealed?
I must admit it was an excellent episode. At last we could see a development of Amity and Willow's friendship, as well as Hunter and his redemption added to the great power that Gus has, that is really important because if the coven leader was defeated by him, Gus has everything to be a coven leader in the future. What a great episode, let's hope to see Hunter soon. Greetings to all!
Amity could become abomination coven leader and Hunter - the thing that the Emperor's coven becomes after Belos' defeat. They def won't keep the coven system as it is now, but maybe make it just about the magic the person prioritizes, and Emperor's coven could be like administrative and peacekeeping thing?
We got some hints in this episode that Hunter might have a crush on Willow. Like when Hunter first sees Willow he blush’s and he also blush’s during the group hug At the end of the episode. Now the group hug one could just be that Hunter had never had a hug before (I feel so bad for this child) but personally I think it’s a mixture of That and Willow being a part of it. Idk maybe I’m wrong but…I mean…..if the ship did end up happening….. I wouldn’t be complaining
Theres some blushing in Any Port in a Storm too, but could easily be from Genuine Friendship. But I think Hunter at least has a crush. I wonder if and how it will keep developing.
Edric joined the potion and beastkeeping tracks and Emira joined the healing track. This makes sense because in Reaching Out, Eda comments on how cool it is that Edric can do potions and beastkeeping (with his bat Batric) and Emira is seen healing Amity after one of the brawl fights.
I love how hunter is the one to spread the news, because who is seen as belos' right hand man. The golden guard, and for him to go against belos is something that sways the people more than luz and eda.
Also I also believe that the little mirror that Gus picked up will be used later in the series maybe like exposing Philip/Belos or like trapping him into his worst nightmare/memories (like the one where he kills his brother or the one where his brother betrayed him )
Hunter telling everyone about the day of Unity better than Luz cause, he was the Golden Guard and they would belive him more than Luz would as only Amity, Willow, Gus maybe the twin and Bump would believe her.
True n it also strays away from the hero being the one to break the ice first. While Luz is the spark to this uproar, it's nice to see the people of the boiling isles grew on their own seeing through Belos facade creating their own rebellion from the coven masters to the school n youths. That way, Belos can't come up with some lie about them being led astray by a human when it's really just people catching on to his bullshit. It just builds up their own resolution before the day of unity without having the carpet ripped from under their feet
I LOVED that part oh my gosh! I did talk about it too but my audio corrupted at the end so it didn't make it in the video. That joke was so funny it got me good too haha.
It was such an in-character joke too, sometimes show writers try to force a joke in that it doesn’t come across as something the character would organically say, but this one was spot on!
I just want to know what did Belos tell the emperors coven exactly? The Scouts say Belos sent out a search party so what is his reason for The Golden Guard being missing?, also did he really think Hunter would just go with the guards back to the palace, and not fight them? Also is his plan to literally just bring him back to the palace then what? Kill him, “brainwash” him like Raine, petrify him? I need answers. Also I wonder what his reaction will be to finding out what that Hunter is not with the Hexside students basically plotting a rebellion, and that his coven head and scouts were beat by a bunch of teens.
It's likely that Belos will just kill him, since we aren't sure how significant a Grimwalker is exactly, they're basically clones. If one doesn't work or doesn't obey him, he can just make another one. We know there were dozens of other Golden Guards before Hunter but my question is can Belos make another Grimwalker?
@@erynnmurphy2996 yes but from what the episode told us he's missing a galderstone, it's kinda needed to power a grimwalker, i feel every-time he killed a grimwalker he just reused materials from the dead one to create the new one
@@mikhailabraham421 my question is can’t Belos just brainwash him? Like he “brainwashed” Raine. The brainwashing was supposed to make Raine not rebel and obey the emperor, luckily Raine is smart and had great magical skills. But Hunter doesn’t he’s powerless on his own. Also Hunter has the coven sigil so can’t he be trapped like Raine was from the bark sigil. So if Belos brainwashed him he would still be obedient. Or maybe Grimwalkers can’t be brainwashed and that’s it, but theirs no in show explanation or answer so we’ll have to wait and see.
it's probably too much a hassle to keep doing that day in day out for years upon years, Raine only needed to be hypnotised for a week or so, and simply starting from scratch seems to be belos's general go to move since the first grimwalker doubt he'd suddenly change tactics
Now that I think about it, we haven’t seen Belos’s physical body since Hunting Palisman. He didn’t get any more in that episode so I wonder what his body was looking like. I suppose that the palisman souls have been destroyed so he’s probably back to normal now. I think I’d like it if he’s been hiding away and that’s why he’s not going for Luz and Hunter himself.
@@Skrill99 Ah, you right he was there in a flashback to eclipse lake and a projection in the parade. I could see the projection being an illusion, but that’s more thought than I think is reasonable.
A couple of things i saw in hollow mind and in this episode, in hollow mind when Luz uses the walkie talkie, Hunter doesn't know how to use it, so the first time he grabs it, he doesn't press the button. He then watches Luz use it, so the next time he takes it he actually presses the button, and then tries to turn it off after by clicking the button, i find it so funny. Another thing I've noticed, nobody in the show has seemed to actually be able to talk to their palisman, other than Hunter, and I'm guessing this is because he's literally partially made of palisterm wood! Last thing in this episode, and i could be wrong and this wasn't intended, but when he does the breathing thing to try to help gus, i kinda imagined he wasn't whistling, it was just the air going through the gap in his teeth, if it was intended i love that part. I've also theorized since Hunter can (supposedly) speak to Flapjack because he's part palisterm wood, maybe he can enhance others powers because he's part galderstone? Just a theory though lol, but it'd be neat.
@@Skrill99 aww really? I know she understands her palismans mannerisms, but maybe I'm forgetting a time where she actually talked to Owlbert. Ill definitely check it out, see if I can find it! Thanks! :)
@@marixmoon9960 in the episode where Luz spent the day with owlbert later Eda asked Owlbert what happened. (I think) (in that episode king has his squeal of terror)
@@Skrill99 ah your right! It could be because she's part owl or because she's had Owlbert so long, but I'm probably just grasping at straws at this point haha XD nice catch!
Talking palaismans is definitely not a Hunter only thing, it seems to be only possible when you have a deep connection/bond to your pal. Eda, Lilith and most likely Bump aswell probably can also speak to theirs. We've seen owlbert and Eda talk and it seemed like Owlbert literally told Lilith to come help Eda last episode but maybe I understand her wording wrong. As for Bump, I'm just assuming since his literally helps him see they must have a very strong bond.
19:13 The problem is that Gus is intelligent, yet nieave. He's desperate to find someone he can trust because of those bullies, but this makes Gus shortsighted and gullible. Gus reminds me of Silver from the Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 game in that way. Both are characters who need someone to trust and be trusted by, both are insecure about themselves/their abilities, and both need to realize that they already have a person who they can trust. Gus has the Bad Girls Coven and Silver had Blaze. (or he did for a while, but 06 isn't even cannon to the storyline so it doesn't matter...) The point is that I see some similarities between the two.
I think Gus' whole thing in this episode was supposed to be a representation on what being identified and treated as a "Gifted kid" might do to the one under that label. When you're treated your whole life as a genius and someone who does nothing but good and amazing stuff, you feel like that's who you are. So when you make a mistake, that "perfect prodigy" part falls apart and you don't know who you are anymore. PS: I heard in another video that it's probably a conscious irony of the crew to make the strongest illusion witch to always be deceived and manipulated by others (aka, to fall under others illusions). It doesn't necessarily have something to do with what I said before, but I just wanted to share it with you
When Willow went to Gus as kids she said she was usually the only one to use that area as a hiding spot, so she was already there and saw him run in and heard him panicking
🤔 19:36 I believe the word you're looking for to describe young Augustus is naive he's too naive and trusting of the world/people because well he's a child and he's the youngest of his class it seems yet one of the most academically gifted that brings a lot of stress been there done that.
You’re definitely right that “book smarts” and “people smarts” are two different things and it’s common for really intelligent/talented kids to be underdeveloped in their social skills, especially if they have Aspergers/Autism which is often the reason why they have a high IQ but they don’t develop communication/social/interpersonal relationship skills naturally like neurotypical people and need to be directly taught them, sometimes as much as needing help identifying the correct emotion associated with expressions and body language. Not being able to learn it naturally like others means you’d definitely end up naive like Gus is. I know I’ve seen psychologists online say that being a child prodigy is a tell tale sign of Aspergers/Autism.
Great episode, Hunter is going to tell Luz's friends, the students, and the teachers what Belos's true intentions of the Day of Unity. They are going to help Eda, Luz, King, and the others later on the series.
This episode hit really close to home, I connect with Gus since I know what it is like for people to befriend you just to use you. I also connect to Hunter and him confronting his trauma from Hallow Mind.
with hunter touching the memory field/circle/sphere thing, not only did he get memories of hollow mind, you also see him having memories of previous episodes too i caught the ones of like, belos being pissed off at him, and the other one of belos snapping at hunter and almost hitting him with a vine (was this from hunting palisman-) and just yall, we find out that everything belos does to hunter is *traumatizing for him-* so wOOOH-
It's super cool seeing Edric checking out more of interests; He chose the Potions and Beastkeeping tracks after he attempted to make a truth potion with Eda
Not even 30 minutes after watching the episode I got hit with a sudden wave of anxiety and ended up trying the breathing exercise they did and it calmed me right down. Other exercises I learned about were written so I never completely grasped it or did them right and so they didn’t really help, but seeing it in action Is what I needed instead apparently. Very glad they included this in the episode cause it actually ended up being extremely helpful!
That's what happened when I brought 5 gum or hot Cheetos then in class even if they barely know you they'll be asking for some👋🏻🤦🏻♂️ omg. Also jolly ranchers and Skittles too lol.😅
They had small Gatorades in the vending machines that cost like a $1.50 so instead we went to a cool teacher who secretly would sell Arizona's an candy bars an told us to hide them in our backpacks when we left his class lol
The eyes in that scene where gus is looking into multiple mirrors....looks like the eyes of Darcy and whatever those eyes were called I mean also looks like the eye in the TOH door to the Hyman realm
This episode was so fun, like the extensive cast, so many characters under the spotlight and this army beign raised against the day of unity at the very last moment i love itttt, one of my favorites of the whole series for sure. And im kinda shipping gunther
After everything in recent episodes, I have so many questions about sigils. What happens if you get two? They block off every other type of magic, so how would that work? If you got an abomination sigil and an illusion sigil, would you have any powers at all? Would they cancel each other out, or would you gain access to both types of magic? What would happen if a human or a grimwalker got one? Hunter already has the Emperors Coven sigil, but that doesn't limit your magic. If he had another sigil forced onto him, would it do anything to him? Would it limit how he can use Flapjack? What happens if there's no bile sack to infect? Would the draining spell try to drain them when they have no magic? Depending on the rules, I can see Hunter jumping into the way to stop someone from having a sigil forced onto them by letting himself get infected. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!
they block off every type of magic that isn't the sigil, if you got two im sure you'd only be able to use those two magics hunter can't use magic, so im sure the sigil if he was given (another*) one wouldn't do anything but put him at more risk on the day of unity
@@fedoriij9897 The one he threw onto the ground, in the "Hollow minds" Episode. Atleast thats the one that reminded me the most of that cape he is wearing now.
I’m so glad Hunter’s back I missed him so much last episode. I’m actually glad that Darius and the others didn’t find him off screen because it’s cool seeing him slowly have to work through his problems with the help of the main cast. It breaks my heart seeing him break down into his panic attacks though. But this episode is great. I love all of the character development going on. The expressions and moments of starting but halting dialogue. Rambling aside this is just a really great episode and I’m super excited.
I love how Gus just gives Hunter a sandwich and Hunter decides he would like die for him, it’s so awesome. I love some Gus action and Hunter action! Edit- ALSO BARKUS AND THE DETENTION KIDS, AND THE BLIGHTS AND THE EMERALD ENTRAILS, I’m in love!
Its nice how hunter truly knows how willow is and calling out that deception And also been here since them's the breaks kids and these vids are amazing pls keep making these they make the episodes better
I wonder if they've done this to other schools, I mean, putting the mark on them before even graduating. Or of they haven't, apart from Hexside they can get more people from other schools. ALSO I love the Theatre Director type they put on the Illusions coven head, HE LIVES FOR THE DRAMA!
To sum it up. Luz is the best thing that’s happened to many of the residents that live on the boiling isles. Willow changed tracks, actually many people changed tracks/mixed tracks, hunter got to see beloss true colors and got to choose for himself, eda and lily reunited and learned kindness and selflessness, king got to learn his heritage, amity became kinder and gets along with her siblings and dad… aaah there’s so much more but those are the things at the surface for me
there's alot to unpack in the episode. Hunter first is basically a homeless runaway teen who took refuge at a school and is likely using the library to research what grimwalkers are because Hexside is the only other safe place he's known and is where the flyer derby are, and Hunter mentions all the time how he's read about things to probably learn but likely a way to try to desperately try to help his uncle or find approval or match his work status. He's also changed out of his golden guard uni for the flyer derby uniform. You can also see him shaking when the scouts are talking to him about taking him back. The kid is terrified. Yet Like you said he has two personas he switches back and forth from Golden Guard/soldier and a stubborn, curious awkward Teen. But we are starting to see how he's starting to balance both sides of himself and experiences, especially when he outed the Willow imposter. He's certain about Willow and her character and values his friendship with her, and his training of being a soldier and trusting his actions leads him to be very observant and able to spring to action when he realises it's not her. He knows the reality of Willow is and therefore can see the illusion. Gus on the other hand, his wide range illusion is a metaphor of anxiety, and how someone spirals into all the insecurities and see nothing but those lies and illusions and replays them as truths. you end up believing this lie and it becomes your whole world and its very hard to pull out. Both boys showed how they handle threat with their flight, fright and freeze response. And regarding Gus. I think the reason why he's so OP is because his personality his heavily dependent on his desire to find truth and project the best part and the truthful part of something or someone. As Gus said "my best self!" when he was looking for the artifact in the castle. Illusionists create untruths and make them seem like reality, but the best illusionists can be so because they know the truth of the subject matter. Hence the scouts and Adrian failed. The giant field Gus creates is so effective, primarily because it takes a truth, which are memories, and replays them to attack ones insecurities and the lies one tells themselves. And the B plot is also about finding the current truth and clarity of someone else who you once knew and getting to know again. Then we end with Hunter with the school recognizing him as Hunter not just the Golden Guard, but Hunter ready to reveal the truth behind Belo's lies and illusions of peace and unity. the theme of the whole episode is great.
I want to point out that when Hunter is having his emotional breakdown, he is on the right, and Gus is on the left using the chillow strat, but when Gus is having his memory weirdness deal, he is on the right, and hunter is on the left comforting him. I just really love those small details that the TOH crew puts in. Anyway great video!
My guess is at the beginning of the episode, when willow meets guss, it's she's starting to get bullied by Amity, who used to be her friend and that's why she's hiding there too. I LOVED how they addressed panic attacks and how it felt genuine and how to help manage it.
This was an amazing episode with Badass Fight sequences, lots of trickery, more backstory for Gus, more of Hexside, more Hunter, and just a wholesome episode at that.
the scenes where hunter gets hugged/high fived and then does a weird face are 10 times funnier when you remember that hugging ad high fiveing arent a thing in the boiling isles ad hunter doesnt know what theyre doing
Edric joined both the potions track and the beastkeeping track. This is the second time in less than a year's time that Disney has featured a magic-less character who has to relive their own trauma in order to help a younger, magical member of their circle. Mirabel also did it for Antonio so he could receive his gift.
Get on the Hunter hype train! This episode was amazing, it's so great to see how powerful all the students of Hexside have gotten and seeing them fight the emperor's coven with principal Bump leading them is awesome! :D With this episode Hexside becomes the third (and biggest) party that will try to stop the Day of Unity, alongisde of The owl gang (Luz, Eda, Lilith, Hooty and King) and the coven leaders gang (Raine, Darius and Eberwolf). :)
It was super quiet but at the beginning of the episode when Willow comes over to Gus she does say that she thought she was the only one who hid there. This episode felt like a nice break from trauma. A lot still happened but I didnt leave feeling like death this week. XD Also Hinter's realistic PTSD absolutely kills me but I appreciate it. I'm very glad that you caught on to the fact that the fake called Gus Augustus because I missed it both times I watched the episode. I just called her out on being a fake because Amity was missing and her personality was wrong. I literally went something is wrong like 2 seconds before Hunter called her out. XD Illusion Belso panicked all of us for a second. Hunter, baby, no! Then relief. I'm glad he's starting to actively fight back now. Bump and eveyone's fight together is one of my new favorite shots. So cool. And Hunters development going to help Gus was on point. The worst trauma in this episode was given to Adrian and there's something super poetic and relieving about that. Hunter's confusion at what a hug is killed me too though because that just proves that this poor child is completely touch starved. I love Bump. Favorite background side character. I watch the episode with my friends every week. This week one of them pointed out that hack side is basically creating the Owl House equivalent of Dumbledore's Army. To which I replied yes but this one is actually organized. But I think you're right in the whole Child Soldier front but also at least this show is self aware enough to point out that children really shouldn't be involved here they just don't have a choice. Overall though I did appreciate this episode it felt like a slight break from whatever is going to happen in the next three because it can't be anything good. This mama is not ready for trauma.
Hunter is definitely one of those people that tries to be cool and act like he doesn’t care but everyone just knows he’s a teddy bear. I know this because I am that type of person😅
what i love about this episode is both Gus's centricism and development for Hunter. Hunter was characterized by his fullness of security and it fucking broke into these shattered pieces and then this episode brought a character, Gus, whose strength is within doubt to show him how to find the pieces of his new reality and forge ahead. Then, Gus's struggle with insecurity and then to continue on his strength within his self when someone shows him what he looks like. Theyre matching pods that came from opposite ends to pair. Gus rose with security early like hunter and just like hunter kept it and achieved, however, Gus dealt with the social issues naturally unlike hunter who was sheltered. they have very similar backstories (however in different fields/genres) that quickly strayed but pair perfectly
There's a little blue bow on hunter's bag for this episode, and if you look it up it actually is a symbol of child abuse awareness, like the green ribbon is for mental health awareness. Just a fun fact :)
the scene where hunter had his first panic attack was so important to me and the representation of it was just spot on. our scenarios were so similar in a sense (obviously i didn’t discover i was a grim walker just something changed my world). it made me love him even more because we were able to things below the surface of his Golden Guard persona
Okay okay okay I know it’s a small section to focus on but ever since the flying derbbie game at the end I feel like hunter likes willow because when she walks away after saying that hunter won’t be able to play for another 52 weeks he blushes and in this when Gus says willow hunter looks up and blushes and then when Gus mentioned willow when he was talking about the breathing thing Hunter looked Gus in his eyes as he was before avoiding eye contact
7:45 - When Amity downplays Willow's strength here, I love how the coven scouts - you know, their enemies here - are always so supportive, lol. Like the one here encourages Willow with "hey don't listen to her, you _totally_ got me". Same with the flyer derby episode, where Steve the guard was so forgiving for being punched in the head because he could relate to how they felt. The guards may be the bad guys here, but they're not bad _guys._
This episode was my fave with everyone joining forces. Knocking down the epic lumity dance scene and knocking on hootys door down a floor. Mind you all of the “HIIIIIS, byeeeees”, and other drawn out words in a funny face category of its own. Although I bet when both sides combine might be a close one to this. Darius getting to be on the same side as Hunter. Eeeek the excitement
I love your raw reactions on these episodes, it really gives a feeling of connection and hype that some of these more analysis-type videos just don’t give. (no shame on them, I love deciphering the lore) but your videos just really bring that hype into the show and the episodes, it’s awesome, keep up the great work!!!
Notice that Hunter's blushing always comes when he's around Willow. First time he saw the fake, he blushed a bit before noticing she was a fake. Then, he acts sort of flaverghasted and possitively to her defending him. Then, he goes red (even to his ears) as she hugs him. I think dude's got a crush.
Two analysis videos so far, and no one even mentions the poor guard who straight up rage quits at the end of the episode. The Tiny Cat Coven has truly gained a great asset this day.

He really is a protective big brother, same with Luz at the end of Hollow Mind.
He was forced to mature early. Probably never had a childhood. (can't help but thinking he's got a lot in common with Hordak, even if Hunter never opened a war, etc).
Luz acts like a little sister to Hunter too, again making me think of the fact that Philip's older brother is a part of him.
@@gpettus9508 Have you watched hollow mind?
That’s a really cool interpretation
@@Sharkie03 The problem is that society teaches that it's always the victim's fault. If you are deceived, you are the "sucker", "an idiot", because "the world belongs to the smart ones".If people don't want to be friends' to you, you're the only one to blame, and so it goes. I heard this kind of junk througout my whole life, so it's amazing that a cartoon finally teaches how wrong that is.
He's smart academically but gullible and overtrusting.
don't tell me im a gus kinnie AND a hunter kinnie 👺

I also loved how Severine straight-up told the other guys "I QUIT," took off her mask, and left grumbling about staying in a different coven. Kinda funny how she just dropped them because she'd been getting so much shit from superiors and other guards.

have you noticed that, very subtly, characters are starting to use glyphs? mainly Luz’s friends, since she probably introduced the glyphs to them. first it was amity (plant glyph; helping luz pick flowers for her dad), then it was hunter (another plant glyph; helping her escape from belos), and now gus (fire glyph; helping hunter escape from the coven guards). it’s so cool seeing luz’s influence and stuff being used by her friends, even though they can do magic.
Me too! I was hoping for something more positive, after so much pain.
What I got from this epizode.
Terra isn't the worst coven head. She atleast had respect for others. But Adrian is arrogant jerk.
Hexide joining bad girl coven.
Gus Is buld different. (I mean he can give others PTSD flashback)
My dream is that he uses this power on belos but like they do something so belos would be trapped forever reliving all the awful things he did
@@birdperson7974 when you realize he have about 400 years.
Terra May or may not be the worst coven head but she is the most horrifying
And now Adrian is scarred for life. Hope he'll run away screaming whenever he'll see Gus.
Was coming here to say that!!
I'm glad to see that Gus is getting out of the label of simple comic relief in order to become a more complex character. And this time without lumity in de middle as the last time.
Also, I will wait the memes of blue eye Gus with megalovania at the background
gray will definitely be hearing this song every time he now sees gus for sure
I loved to see that Edric started studying potions and beastkeeping
Same here! I'm happy to see him studying things he enjoys. Hopefully he won't feel useless from now on.
All thanks to Mama Eda recognizing and encouraging his talents
If covens are still around Willow and Gus would most definitely be coven leaders
I didn’t think it was excellent especially compared to a lot of the other episodes this season but I thought it was good
Amity could become abomination coven leader and Hunter - the thing that the Emperor's coven becomes after Belos' defeat. They def won't keep the coven system as it is now, but maybe make it just about the magic the person prioritizes, and Emperor's coven could be like administrative and peacekeeping thing?
honestly even if hunter didn’t get a redemption i would still love him
We got some hints in this episode that Hunter might have a crush on Willow.
YUHHH
In Hunter’s place you can see that Hunter was reading about the Grimwalkers that’s making me sad
True and plus he’s been in the coven his whole life, so of course he seen or knows stuff that outsiders wouldn’t know.
This episode was great. I don’t know why. But every episode in Toh is just insaneeeeeeee
Season 2 is truly popping off
The fight scenes in this show have always been S tier in terms of animation quality and choreography
Willow has confidence in her abilities; which gives her great strength. A true sign of personal growth.
Idk why but Edric asking Hunter if he’s ever sneezed with his mask on had my friend and I literally rolling on the floor with laughter😂
@@mikhailabraham421 yeah I get the feeling that to make a new one he needs to “recycle” parts from the old one.
? Yes we have? Eclipse lake? coven day parade(maybe)?
@@Skrill99 Ah, you right he was there in a flashback to eclipse lake and a projection in the parade. I could see the projection being an illusion, but that’s more thought than I think is reasonable.
I love Mattfalumul's reaction at the assembly as he rips off and tosses his sleeves on the floor.
I think eda has talked to owlbert before (but hunter does talk to his the most)
@@Skrill99 aww really? I know she understands her palismans mannerisms, but maybe I'm forgetting a time where she actually talked to Owlbert. Ill definitely check it out, see if I can find it! Thanks! :)
@@marixmoon9960 in the episode where Luz spent the day with owlbert later Eda asked Owlbert what happened. (I think) (in that episode king has his squeal of terror)

The problem is that Gus is intelligent, yet nieave.

I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME ABOUT HUNTER! I LITTERALLY ALMOST SCREAMED, but my parents were sleeping so...

Edric is Potions, beastkeeping, and Illusions
Emira is healing and illusions
Matt is illusions and I think construction
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!
they block off every type of magic that isn't the sigil, if you got two im sure you'd only be able to use those two magics
hunter can't use magic, so im sure the sigil if he was given (another*) one wouldn't do anything but put him at more risk on the day of unity

To sum it up. Luz is the best thing that’s happened to many of the residents that live on the boiling isles. Willow changed tracks, actually many people changed tracks/mixed tracks, hunter got to see beloss true colors and got to choose for himself, eda and lily reunited and learned kindness and selflessness, king got to learn his heritage, amity became kinder and gets along with her siblings and dad… aaah there’s so much more but those are the things at the surface for me
I love the anxiety detail with Hunter how he flinches whenever someone mentions Belos its a great touch .
there's alot to unpack in the episode.
This was a nice breakdown!
I loveeeeeed this. I missed a Gus and Willow episode

This episode was a very nice episode for character development
20:54 Oh, my gosh, I JUST noticed that when Hunter blushes here, his ears also turn red. That's so cute!
The absolute TERROR I felt when “Belos” appeared
Ikr-
The lil mirror was to read memories and the labyrinth got weird cuz it hurt gus making him stress even more :(
Edric joined both the potions track and the beastkeeping track.
This is the second time in less than a year's time that Disney has featured a magic-less character who has to relive their own trauma in order to help a younger, magical member of their circle. Mirabel also did it for Antonio so he could receive his gift.
When Belos Showed up I Had a heart attack Too XD 😂 I was like W T F 😱 Run The other way , Run the other way 😂
This episode was amazing!!!!!!!
Amity and Willow reminded me of Anne and Marcy because of the "I just got you back and I don't want to lose you" line
Edd joined the potions and beast keeping coven while his sister joined the heling coven in addition to illusions.
If you pay close attention to hunters memories you'll see willow in there
It was super quiet but at the beginning of the episode when Willow comes over to Gus she does say that she thought she was the only one who hid there.
XD
Illusion Belso panicked all of us for a second.
Also like Gus mensions something like ,,Why cant I learn" or something, so my first though was, that he could have a learning problem
beast keeper/ healing flyer derby is Viney. She is going to be the first Veterinarian for the boiling aisles.
what i love about this episode is both Gus's centricism and development for Hunter.
I love how Hunter is wearing his flyer derby uniform.
Eeeek the excitement
i love this episode so much. literally my 2 favorite characters
Hunter wearing part of his emerald entrails uniform gives me life
I love your raw reactions on these episodes, it really gives a feeling of connection and hype that some of these more analysis-type videos just don’t give. (no shame on them, I love deciphering the lore) but your videos just really bring that hype into the show and the episodes, it’s awesome, keep up the great work!!!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the videos, I definitely get a bit too hyper when recording these haha.
Bartholomew joined the illusion track, but when the reveal of the illusion coven head appears, he rips off his sleeves.
You WERE Hunter in that second
