Right?! It's all nice and cool to watch photographers grow with their channel over time and so on but with Will it's something different... You know how you can make people believe in everything if you say it right, it's not hard to sell yourself as an expert in front of bunch of newbies on YT but Will... I just genuinely trust this guy in what he says, it's even nicer to see expansion which is totally backed up with actual knowledge and practice. Plus, he just seem like a guy you could have really nice talk to.

I’d love to visit the Rockies sometime, they seem magical based on the amount of stuff I’ve seen in movies and videos and such. Florida also seems cool though, somewhat tropical! I'm very happy for you, William! The first of your videos I watched was the Mamiya RB67 Review that you just uploaded back then - and I was on the verge of buying one. You basically are the reason why I own this camera now and I'm very gratefull for that. Also I'm currently experimenting with 135 film in my 6x7 back and hopefully get some somehow panoramicish pictures out of it. Your work is very inspiring and your videos are so nice to watch - Thank you for putting out such great content! Keep it up!

Glad to have been able to give you an informed opinion of the RB before you picked it up too haha - as you've likely noticed it's pretty much my main camera these days lol! A couple of people have suggested I try a pano adapter, I might give it a go sometime but I've always kind of figured I could just crop 6x7 to that size if I wanted a pano image , guess it might be more fun and economical to use an adapter though. I'll keep it up for sure!

Hey William, congrats on 5k subs! I know the panoramic camera is the highlight of this video but I'm always happy you're consistently using your RB67. It is in almost all of your videos so far . It encourages me to get back out there and shoot with it. The RB speaks to me too.

The RB is just so versatile and I feel one with it at this point, whenever I get ready to take the Mamiya 7 out I wonder if I’m going to want to make a close-up of something or a portrait and I’m like “ ah might as well take the rb “ hahaha. I’m going to have to drop some cash on servicing sometime soon again though since things are getting a bit dicey again unfortunately. But I guess that comes with frequent use!

I love that you use your RB so much. Always puts me in the mood to get out and shoot with mine. Especially nice to see when most people on here put it down in favour of the RZ
I really do enjoy it in spite of it's downfalls, ironically this week I've been witness to no less than 3 spontaneously bricked RZ's haha! One died outright, one's advance lever stopped working and the final one would only fire in RB lens mode lool. There is an appeal to some of the RZ features, but I'm too scared of what might go wrong and am too familiar with the RB to give it up! - I also held a bricked Contax G2 this week actually, hasn't been a good week for electronic cameras around here ahah
@@willysheepskin ouch, that made me a wince a little RIP those bricks! I’m doing a few test shoots this coming week and I’ve bought a pro sd back for my pro s, mainly to have a second back to swap out but happy to have a back that doesn’t require foam seals. That’s my only “upgrade”. A friend of mine has been saying he wants an RZ over an rb of late and while there are nice features, hot shoe being one, he couldn’t really tell me anything other than “I just think it’s better”. I can’t afford a G2, if I could I’d think I’d be too scared that it died on me.

I get quite a bit of Cyan overall in the picture with Ektar here in Norway in the Northern hemisphere, and warmer tones with Portra. It's strange. South Africa definitely seems like the best landscape for Ektar. Thank you for your videos and work!
Oh that's so interesting! Gonna have to look at some of my older negatives from London sometime to see how they compare! The landscape definitely lends itself very well to Ektar, so lucky to be here!

If you want to get closer focus on the Horizon, you can add thin strips of tape to the metal bars that set the focal plane-highly recommended! I use the Horizon a lot for closer shots of people, and you can still get the landscape in focus if you stop down enough.
Infinity focus at f/2.8 was a very questionable decision on the designers part, in my opinion, but it could just be that landscapes aren't my favorite thing to shoot.
Phenom video as always might like to try shooting panoramic through your RB67 and compare the results
Thank you! I'm somewhat curious about that, but I feel like since the image will still be projected flat vs the warping pano look one gets in this camera it might just look like cropped 6x7. Shall have to give it a go sometime!

I'm quite keen to shoot some of that, I've been having really bad luck with slide film at the moment though for some reason so want to just try figure out what's causing issues before I end up with disappointing results. I shot some expired Ektachrome 100G a few years ago though and that was lovely
That Horizon 202 looks very interesting as most of the pano cameras are so very expensive. The light leaks are a bitch but that is why I have a roll of gaffers tape in my bag to seal the edges of the backs or camera if I think there is a leak. I have one RB67 back that I know has a seal issue but I always forget to redo the foam until I have reloaded the back. Back to the Horizon, it rather reminds me of a Holga, fun to use but you never know what you are going to get. It is nice that you do respond to most comments but honestly I rarely expect an answer and it could eventually be way more than you can do. Still the answers are nice.
Just looked on eBay for the Horizon and they are all from sellers in the Russian Federation so maybe they are a Holga after all. Still I may have to take a chance and get one as it does look like fun.
I should have taped it to be honest! I tape anything I'm dubious of but didn't think to do it in this case for some reason. My roll of gaffer tape is among my most valuable possessions I reckon. It's quite expensive here but I keep managing to misplace it for a month or two at a time so it has lasted well haha! I understand the forgetting to sort seals before reloading the camera scenario veery well too unfortunately. In my case it's normally because I put the offending back away and forget about it for a year then find it again and try it out to see why I haven't used it - and learning the hard way why I put it away haha! That's also a great way to describe the Horizon from my brief and limited experience with it. Funny that all the listings are from Russian sellers, makes me really wonder how this one found it's way down here!

@@willysheepskin gaffer tape is a great thing to have in your bag but I have also used black electrical or is it electricians tape. A bit stickier and can leave a residue but it works in a pinch. The residue does come off very easily using isopropyl alcohol. Use the black as it is the only one that really blocks the light. The colored ones don’t especially the red and yellow ones.
@@roberttangen2942 I actually have a roll of electrical tape permanently inside a pouch on my camera bag! Actually quite convenient because of the small rolls, can't always have a big roll of gaffer tape on hand but the electrical stuff can go anywhere for sure!
I did some work and discovered the Horizon 202 was built in Russia between 1991 and 2001. There are several other models that were built from 2002 to 2005. I went ahead and ordered a Horizon S3 Pro that was last build in 2005. It cost under $200USD with shipping and I should get it before November of this year. I'll let you know how I like it.

Responding to every comment sure will get difficult when you inevitably blow up. Great video as always, and interesting camera/subject matter combination. One wonders if you could get better panoramic results if you jerry rigged some 35mm film into one of your medium format cameras, without having to shell out for an xpan.
Ahh we'll have to see! I'm definitely curious about 35mm in the RB, gonna ask around to see if I know someone with the adapter or that can 3d print it haha!

It is indeed a lomo feeling camera, although I loaded it incorrectly apparently as I suspected so that impacted the sharpness on the right side of the frame. I was so hoping to learn some South African slang curses when you loaded the Horizon but you are too nice 😂. You might able to fix the light seals on the camera and maybe test it on a tripod to see if the sharpness was a camera shake issue. Cool stuff as usual…
Aahah the Afrikaans swear words pop up very rarely around here, if I injure myself doing something in a video the language will definitely get colorful lol! The tripod images I made with it were indeed sharper than the handheld ones, kind of figured that would be the case - should've shot everything on the tripod haha! The camera actually doesn't have seals just light traps, but one could probably add foam to them fore more sealing!

Thank you kindly! I’ve considered making a grading video before but I don’t really do anything differently to a million other videos out there and wouldn’t want to make something that’s repetitive- if I ever come up with some rad new technique I’ll consider again though haha!

Even here in Germany, you have to travel to Russia to get one. 😅 When loading you waste almost half the roll. 15:00 was creepy because I was wondering what that is and you really said in the exact moment in the video " if you're just wondering what that is in front of the camera?"
