Such concerned comment from a future government official demonstrates how unique is Dubai. Looking at your concern is (while you are still studying) extremely impressive and should be an example for many government / city officials worldwide. Laurent , an happy 🇫🇷 cyclist 🎉🚵♂🎉
From every aspect Dubai looks like Disneyland for rich enough adults on cars. To get to any lets call it "landmark" you need to take an inevitable car ride.
Yeah I found that out. Even in the zoo it was unusual to walk around and they made a train to ride from area to area (which was not that far and a 15min que to get in. We walked in a few minutes haha)
Little tip for first time users of “wet waxx”. When adding it for the first time on a clean chain. Put the chain in an ikea ziplock bag. Pour 100ml of the waxx in the bag and shake it around to work it into the chain. After that just take the chain out of the bag and let it dry.
Sounds like an alternative to hot waxing haha. It would be waisting a lot of wax this way so I would t recommend it actually… dripping it on the chain worked well for me. Otherwise use the hotwax if you want the best performance
Yup. Driving to/from the cycling track for several years... Lots of people ride basic cycles. I used a 2008 Specialized 10 gear Ultegra Mech w/50mm wheels with tubes. Also, my rides where 99% in the evenings after sunset.
I stayed in town square back in January and couldn’t believe you had to ride into traffic to get back. I also had to run across the road the first day as I thought there must be a road or path i can take to cross the road. Crazy that there’s no safe way to get back from Al Qudra.
Watching this video on the last day of Jasper’s CF camp. Amazing, great fun. That said, I can attest to the fact that this man does not do coffee stops.
Dubai cycling looks really good as have seen a few people I know do the long loop around the desert and seems great. Glad you showed the whole getting back to town part, as not seen that previously. Cycling in to fast moving traffic seems mental, but the drivers have respect over in Dubai so not an issue it seems
Yeah man the whole loop is pretty cool. Next video I will go all over all tarmac of Al Qudra. Indeed the last part was a bit weird and no information about it. I was truly flabbergasted that first night 😫 The drivers are not that safe but I think they are getting used to cyclists riding into traffic on that ramp…
14:02 Sounds just like Germany: between the town I live and the next town where I work there's a main road and a quiet road. However the quiet road is missing a few hundred meters of tarmac so whatever you do you end up on the main road (or you mountainbike on a dirt track). Since all locals drive nobody seems to mind...or even notice!
I was staying in Al Jaffaf in August. I know what you mean about having cross major 6 lane roads just to get home. So frustrating. Still enjoyed riding with the Dubai Roadsters on the Sunday.
Nice vlog Jasper ! I never tried riding on the Al Quadra track but will definitely try it after watching your video. Also, I believe as per Dubai law it is illegal to ride on motorways. You are only allowed to ride on the designated cycling tracks. Although they are super friendly, just be vary of the Po Po. 👮🚓
Ha-ha, was the same time the same place - just after rains. Found that 100m in opposite direction is the only good solution. But, water made it much harder - it was necessary to ride opposite direction in the middle of the road, but just for two days
Funny to see some serious traffic offenses in well-groomed Dubai. I used to think that only in Cambodia, Thailand and Viet Nam could cyclists ride against the oncoming traffic. Thank you for sharing a true experience of cycling in the desert.
Nice vid! Thanks! Your cycling adventures in Dubai reminded me of.... Zwift lol. As if you're riding in a fantasy world. The geometry of this bike seems a bit odd with the low seatpost. Did you consider a size smaller and how is the drop on this bike for you?
It’s as much Zwift as Flevoland for me. Straight and flat haha. Yeah I thought about smaller size but needed the reach so had to size up. Smaller size would fit me better but there was no Yoeleo handle bar with a 130mm stem… The drop is not as low as I like it because of the large stack on this frame size Good spot 🤙🏻
This is definitely the best place. Check my 2nd video from Dubai. To get on and off the track is a bit shit but townsquare is a really good spot for training
Jasper, I am about to buy the product, but let me ask, did you only use the package that's on the left hand side at 16:06? Does that contain the hexagons shapes too or do I have to buy the hexagons separately if I want to apply the same care on my bikes as you on your bikes? Also why does the link under your description lead me to the german version of the site?
Hey, the hexagon shapes are the “hotwax”. There are 2 options, hot wax and cold wax (drip wax). I’ve used only drip wax on my road bike and used hotwax on the Mtb. Both have good results, nevertheless The hotwax is a bit more work and should get a little bit better result. Either way you use, degreasing is probably the most important step. The link should bring you to the correct website according to your location. Maybe it’s a hiccup. I think you should land on the English website. Anyway the code is the same: jasper10
Not sure what you mean. No need to wipe anything after applying. Just let it dry and ride. Any wax that’s too much will fall off the chain during riding.

Also being mostly flat I don't think I would enjoy riding in Dubai. You made the day seem light and enjoyable though. Keep up the good work.
All the guys in the group where nice guys! Obviously I can’t show you everything on the video. We had some good nice chats before and after the ride 👍🏻👍🏻 they also helped me out with tips about the Qudra track and riding in Dubai etc during the week etc so that was great.
Better in what way? Better would be if they construct that last 200m of cycling lane to get to the other side. IMO driving somewhere to go cycling is ridiculous (especially when it’s that close), in Dubai it’s normal.. shows the different perspectives.
Why you complaining. You chose to be there. And you saw there were rain floods. You should have gone back the way you came instead of cutting across the highway. there are far worse traffic situations in the western world. I was on a boulevard in Pontiac, Michigan with 30 mph speed limit, and all of a sudden it turns into 55 mph highway without warning and I start seeing turnoffs from the highway. I had to take the first one. That was crazy. You probably wouldn’t have complained about that situation because its in the west. Sorry but it just seemed like a bash.
Theres literally two ways back, walk across the highway or cycle into oncoming traffic. It is pretty crazy, i was there in January. I would go back there but they do need to sort that out as its literally only 1k from the start of the track and the far end of town square finishes at the roundabout but theres a big metal fence around it. Ideally they could put a gate in here and that would work perfectly as no need to make anymore paths.
@@joeskipper91 youve been there so you understand. (Y) I can imagine for people that have not been there its difficult to understand the situation. I was just so surprised on that first ride....

Man, you came in a wrong time. Bad experience.
Come again! Official invitation :) Just reply for details.
Details please ;) send me a DM on instagram or an email. thanks
People have all kinds of money and choose to ride in desert. And No connecting bike lanes
🤷🏼♂️
Dubai - the country that is unable to plan and execute infrastructure projects correctly.
Turns out you can have more money than sense
🤦🏼♂️ yeah looks a bit like it. When you use the car you can get everywhere but walking or cycling 🛑
Given how unbelievably strict Dubai is on its' dress code for women, where do foreign women stand when cycling in Dubai?
Women just ride in short tight Lycra just like in the rest of the world!
Better to drive to the start of the track
Better in what way?
Better would be if they construct that last 200m of cycling lane to get to the other side.
IMO driving somewhere to go cycling is ridiculous (especially when it’s that close), in Dubai it’s normal.. shows the different perspectives.
Legs not shaved? 😱😜
But it’s winter 😂
the Brand of bike does not make the rider. personally I hate guys that rider high end bikes. funny to see their face when you beat them. lol
😆 I’ll smoke most guys on 15k bikes but hey, everyone their own hobby and money pit right 😜
Lots of money, not a lot of smarts.
😅😅 you can’t buy IQ
Why you complaining. You chose to be there. And you saw there were rain floods. You should have gone back the way you came instead of cutting across the highway. there are far worse traffic situations in the western world. I was on a boulevard in Pontiac, Michigan with 30 mph speed limit, and all of a sudden it turns into 55 mph highway without warning and I start seeing turnoffs from the highway. I had to take the first one. That was crazy. You probably wouldn’t have complained about that situation because its in the west. Sorry but it just seemed like a bash.
Sorry I don’t watch the flood forecast every day. 😂 It’s the desert. Maybe happens once in 2 years…
Theres literally two ways back, walk across the highway or cycle into oncoming traffic.
So boring .
I didn’t find it boring mate. It’s a new environment!
