Thank God for Jamey Johnson!! He is one of very few Nashville artists I'm listening to. Country music don't need artists like Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts etc. They ain't country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to newer artists like Jamey Johnson, Amber Digby, Danni Leigh, Dale Watson for knowing what country music is all about and for keeping it COUNTRY!! Long live REAL COUNTRY!!! IT'S THE BEST MUSIC ON THE PLANET!
Jamey Johnson sang this song in honor of Ronald "Pepper" Brown who is the KING OF SKID ROW. Pepper is featured on EVERLAST "Long at All". Everlast wrote the song for Pepper at the urging of 50 Cent. Pepper is also on Facebook at Ronald "Pepper" Brown and he loves to hear from his fans. Pepper is an Army Vet.
jamie johnson u have a voice that can't compare to this so call country on to radio.u have something they don't.it's called a passion and a soul for this.thank u for ur time
you could tell he really didn't want to do vern no disrespect. because that's what WE grew up listening to. HE grew up listening to vern too. JAMEY DONE AN EXCELLENT job. I LOVE VERN GOSDEN . awesome cover. especially when people need help. VERN HAD DONE THAT THROUGH JAMIE.with farm aid.AND JAMIE.i love it.YOU ARE AWESOME
Your correct about Everlast, I meant to say GG ALLIN and Pepper. As we know GG passed many years ago and Pepper is doing time in California. Thanks for pointing that out.
Awesome! Great that your doing done of the best "Real Country" thanks. I also like how you respect those guys like George Straight when you had guitar and pen ready for him to sign afternoon you just sang one one of his songs. First class man!
They got a vintage Victrola 1951 Full of my favorite records that I grew up on They got ole Hank and Lefty and there's B24 Set 'em up Joe, and play "Walking The Floor". to all you Yankee haters out there Im from NY and now live in dallas and I know more about country music then anyone in Dallas. You don't have to be from the south to like real country music. Stop acting like a bunch of blacks with slavery just because you lost the war
You must be some kind of music connoisseur and that’s good for you everybody has their opinions but I would have to say he did more than tried you either don’t have ears or just incredibly unaware of what real country music is. There’s no doubt Vern Goslin is one of the best that ever saying but if you don’t feel this guy is right up there pretty damn close unfortunately you must be out of it again everybody has their taste and has their own taste and opinion. No offense she just came off like you’re a person that has a very high expectation of country music. Let me know when you put up your version of that song or any other version. Thanks for your comment
I don't know who this "Ronald "Pepper" Brown person is or the Everlast person who you said wrote the song...The set em up Joe song is a Vern Gosdin song, He Co-Wrote the song with 3 other guy's! I am thinking the Everlast guy wasn't one of them!
I wasn't trying to down him, but the fact remains that the original is better. I love JJ's music, but that doesn't alter my view on his covers. His version wasn't bad, but at the same time -- as I said, not as good as the original. You can disagree if you like, but resorting to simplistic name calling doesn't help your cause. Good Day.
Jamey Johnson, THAT'S "who is gonna fill their shoes!!"
When you need some relief from today's 'Yuppy country', just find something by Jamey Johnson.
Got to see Vern Gosdin do this live just a few months before he passed away. Absolutely awesome. One of the great country songs of all time.
like this version...but always gotta play Vern Gosdin's version when it's done !!

Jamey Johnson sang this song in honor of Ronald "Pepper" Brown who is the KING OF SKID ROW. Pepper is featured on EVERLAST "Long at All". Everlast wrote the song for Pepper at the urging of 50 Cent. Vern Gosden blows this version out the water
@stevojeno My unknown friend you couldn't have put 6 better & simpler words together if you had tried for a year! love it!!!
👍×1000
Gotta love JJ -- But the original is by far the best, gotta have that steel guitar, but he tried and didn't do half bad. :)
You must be some kind of music connoisseur and that’s good for you everybody has their opinions but I would have to say he did more than tried you either don’t have ears or just incredibly unaware of what real country music is. Search for Jamey and "who's gonna fill their shoes" here on You Tube. I think you will like it. I tried to post a link but YT wouldn't let me.

Definitely like the Vern Gosdin version better.
