I cant even begin to comprehend how a mod implements half life source physics and movements to a racing game especially nfs, got me watching the whole thing in amazement lmao
Half Life 2's movement code is basically public domain at this point so people have figured out how movement works in that game long ago. So I imagine translating it into literally any game wouldn't be too hard with access to the game's movement code through modding.
@@queuedjar4578 that's true but figuring out how to reverse engineer and modify core character movement, physics, input and all the logic inbetween to any degree let alone this all presumably without any official mod tools (don't believe MW has anyway) is really impressive though, and hell like you said HL2 and source engine games are basically completely figured out but transposing any part of it onto a completely different engine and framework isn't super simple either. Regardless though think we can all agree modders are amazing :)

And Quake 1 to 3 are open-source, which is probably why it is easier to implement in other games! And in case anyone reading this is curious, QPhysics works alongside VPhysics, which stands for Ipion Virtual Physics. Later acquired by Havok, who were acquired by Microsoft. VPhysics gives all the props their realistic movement!

Half Life 2's movement code has been solved for years now so as long as you have literally any access to a game's movement code it wouldn't be hard to implement it.
Just wanted to say that seeing this video (thank you RUclips reccs) has now inspired me to do a GTA IV playthrough with it. Not *quite* as fun since there are times you do have to actually drive around, and the roads probably aren't as fun to move around on, but I'm absolutely loving it. I wish the older NFS games were easier to get a copy of, would love to try it in those games too. Also, appreciate the on-screen keyboard inputs, even though I knew about ABH and bhopping from seeing source-engine speedruns ages ago, I had no idea about ASH until watching this and trying your inputs myself in the GTA IV version of the mod.
