@@TaroMurata were you on the American side or Canadian side? I've caught some huge muskies at the mouth of the Thames. But I'm on the American side and I love ice fishing the lake we sight fish them big jumbos and there's nothing like it. Also we use a hard bead aka slab grabber never have to use live bait

No reason to ever keep one like that with the way replicas are these days, girth and measure let her go. Sometimes they die and it happens that would be the only excuse. Based on the way he scurried out of there that fish was still plenty alive.

@@TaroMurata yeah couldn’t agree more, that’s about the only reason I ever hear people getting skin mounts anymore anyway. All you have to do is walk into any bar in northern Wisco and you can see why people avoid skin mounts.

For the last one caught on shore. I would rather see them let it go but I know it's in his right but why would you want to eat a fish that old. And if your not eating it what a waste. If you want a replica then take pictures and measurements no need to take that fish.

That fish wasn’t even measured properly. I think it closer to 54.5 or even a double nickel to be honest…. Tronner was the there measuring it before it got taken off in the bag.

Sad sad sad for anyone that loves that fishery when a 53 gets taken home. Unfortunately it is legal and if they only have 1 in their possession there is nothing to be done UNLESS the size limits are increased to represent the Class A fishery that St Clair is! Hurts to see a trophy fish that has the potential to be someone's fish of a life time to be carved up and eaten.
Definitely should be protected. Such a rare fishery! A gem of a place! No wonder all my boys are all moving there!

@@TaroMurata yo man I have the same honda 150 as you. It's a pretty awesome motor. Have you aver experienced any "prop chatter"? Km running a 3 blade stainless. It's will occasionally rattle at low idle speed.

Two man torpedo. But you got to feel how the fish is too. But when the water is cold… they’re a lot easier to release fast.

I have caught 40 inch pike on old school Zebco crap reels and rods. They don`t fight all that hard. It only took me 2 minuets to land them using crap tackle and 12 pound line. So why does everyone feel like they need super gear to land these fish? It boggles my mind.
Sometimes they want giant 1lb baits. You can cast those on light line. You’ll cast em right off your line unless you have “rope” to cast em on.

There’s other less rare fish in the sea… I’ve never ate and never will. Do you know anyone that has? If so are they any good? Just curious…

No idea. But it’s the law! He’s allowed.
I don`t know what test line you use but many use 80 lb test to catch musky. I think that is cheating. I have landed 50 inch musky on 20 lb line thanks to the reel tech and drag systems of today. I released them and they were fine. They were tired but fine. A 20 minuet fight is more fun than a 2 minuet fight using 80 lb test line. Anglers today just want to land the fish fast. Where is the fun in that? 50/50 is a fair fight in fishing. That is why I only use 20 lb test line for musky.
Sometimes when you’re casting giant 1lb baits you need heavy rods… if the line was 20lb test for example, you could possibly snap off a $40 lure. But when we were trolling in this vid we were using only 30lb big game mono. I think it depends on how you’re fishing them imo
Please just make it illegal to keep those fish too many idiots out there keeping them what is he going to keep that fish for to save himself a few bucks on the mount

This is the law. So he is allowed to keep one. To me the fish is just so rare and awesome at that size. So I would get a replica mount if that’s the reason he was keeping it. And not kill it.
If I see that I'll be releasing him, what he's doing is legal but not ethical, what I would do to him wouldn't be very legal
