Once again I find myself heading east to lake St. Clair, Michigan. This wasn’t just
another muskie KO adventure... no this trip had a mission, a goal a purpose. Our
mission was to fish a new bait by Musky Innovation called the Quad Dawg. A four
-tailed rubber bait that was all ready having great success amongst Innovations
pro-staff. Now it was our turn.

So happy to have the 10-50 and 10-40oz rods innovations makes to be able to rip rubber. If you truly want to fish rubber the way Spencer does which a lot of times is the way you need to in order to get fish to eat having the right equipment is paramount. You've also got to be willing to put yourself through the shit! Man I wish Mike would just figure out how to figure 8 properly it's hard to watch at times 😂 you'd think he'd get it by now but i think it's actually getting worse 😅

on paper, having a 10-40oz and a 10-50oz rod seems a bit redundant, no?
how do both rods compare with each other, and what lures do you use each of them for?
      cheers for info 👍

@@zilla11547 it might sound redundant but there's a ten oz difference in the rods. I also throw giant rubber up to or over 22oz so that's where the 50oz comes into play. It's also great for ripping pounders ultras and quads aggressively. The 40 oz is gonna be more for reg n husky dussas mags n pounders. It's really no different than having a 1-6oz rod and a 2-8oz rod, I fish a lot of rubber and these rods help do that more efficiently

There is truth to the age factor. As you get older, you simply cannot whip jack those big rubber baits all day without repercussions. You can literally mess up your shoulder, rotator cuff, etc. We troll more now that we are older and cast during key windows like moon overhead/underfoot to keep the casting total times lower. We get a ton trolling as well as some nice ones casting.

Ask Spencer if he knows a Neil that’s my cousin, and they do tournaments together, it’s cool to see someone a family member knows come out with a new bait, love the content keep it out

Is Spencer throwing the Cracked Ice Pumpkinseed show color? I just got mine delivered and now so stoked to throw it!

Looking again, it's the BL Special color...which is one of the normal ones you can get. Very similar to the show color from this year.

Great show Mike! Is that a trip anyone can do, or do you really need a local to show you the ropes?

It's giant water, you'll need a guide a time or two to show you the ropes. Spencer is great for casting, Matt Firestein is one of the best trolling guides, he casts too. Been going out with Matt for 20 years. We got 16 in 3 days our last trip over there in Sept. '23. 12 trolling, 4 casting. 12 of 16 were 45.5" to 53.5".

No question that hiring a guide to help break down giant water is a no brainer.

Hi Jason, it's a big drink of water. Hiring a guide is a really good idea at least it will get you started.
