Relaxing ambient music from the Moog Subharmonicon. This is the kind of patch that I can leave on in the background for hours. For moments we look up at the stars and wonder.
Processing - Stereo widening, Valhalla Shimmer reverb
Recorded in Logic Pro X

That's so lovely. I've been hoping to see videos like this of the Subharmonicon since it was launched. There's been too much blip blop. This was wonderful. Thank you.
Thanks for listening! I was searching for the same sort of stuff when I first heard about it's release. It's a very niche synth in my opinion so there isn't a lot of variety out there yet. I'm still trying to get used to it myself! Cheers :)
Great piece. I'm looking at getting a Subharmonicon soon. One thing that I wanted to say to others who really dig this ambient style is to check out "Panthalassa, The Music of Miles Davis 1969-1974" by Bill Laswell. Your piece has a similar sound to the track "He Loved Him Madly."
Me: Listens to this peacefully
RUclips 4 minutes later: DO YOU WANT DISNEY+?!?!?!?!
Hey I think I may have a solution for yer musical intrusions; I have spotty wifi in my place and I found that getting RUclips pro or premium allows you to download videos and I believe it eliminates ads on yer streams as well. Verify. Money well spent in my world.
get adblock
Hey, sorry for the ads, although they do help me out. I usually remove the mid-roll ads on my longer ambient videos but this one was missed. I've since removed the ad that plays in the middle so there shouldn't be any interruptions now. Thanks for listening!
@@SyllixMusic Ah it's fine dude. Keep up the good work!
When it comes to ambient music, do you prefer longer songs?
I definitely find it hard to keep ambient tracks short... 🙈
@@HolbeckStill truth!!
I'm late answering but yes, I find a decent ambient track should last 15 to 20 minutes.
Aye, longer! 8 minutes is the absolute bare minimum for an ambient soundscape :)
Yes, it actually kind of adds to the ambience, also a lot of people listen to ambient music because they want to relax or are try to sleep, it’s hard to do those thing when the song is short because then songs are changing more rapidly which can disturb your sleep/relaxation.
The sequencing is so fascinating to me and the random yet cohesive shifting of the ADSR really just makes this a mood....I want to learn how to do these things someday...keep it up 👍
Thanks for the kind words. Best way to learn is to get your hands on your first synth and start turning knobs :)
Hahaha....truuuue
Love this, beautiful 🙌
Had no idea this synth could be so chilled. Lovely ambience, thanks!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Didn’t know I needed this. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Really nicely done. Beautiful use of its musicality and tonal complexity while still being ambient. Way better than so many of the demos of this.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
What does this patch actually look like? It's amazing the kinds of sounds you can get out of the Subharmonicon.
Patching wise, I'm letting Sequence 1 modulate the VCF. As for the chords, well, that's a bit harder to explain. I basically sit down and tinker with the pitch and subharmonic VCOs until it sounds good.
@@SyllixMusic I’ve found the same thing with my subharmonicon. It’s a matter of trial and error until you hear the a sound that envelops you. Especially trying to program the rhythm knobs it’s all a matter of trying stuff out. definitely encourages one to try out new things, and then leave it on for a while and let it breathe when you’ve found the sweet spot.
I like the ambient sounds it makes.
I was going for the lyra8 but I do not think it is capable of playing music that I want it to play but it makes noises ( good ones) off its own accord.
I know the subharmonicon can go off on one but I think it is more of a musicians tool.
I think I want one!
Done the crave and monotribe so happy to go in with subharmonicon.
So beautiful. Thank you for sharing..
Thank you!
really nice lighting of the scene!
Thank you! I try my best to set the mood.
truly gorgeous patch
Rich and smooth and dreamy. Lovely💫👍.
This is fantastic. I recently got a SubH and though I am a rookie to synths I can tell it is a powerhouse place to lose oneself. This is a new type of sound I haven't yet heard from other videos, super cool.
Thanks for the kind words, Vincent. I really love letting the pads from the Subharmonicon go on their own journey.
beautiful.
Calming sounds. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really beautiful 👏
Amazing...thankyou for your music!!!
Thanks for listening!
Very nice !!!
I'm curious, how did you manage to randomize the attack on certain hits of the sequencer? Via the patchbay ? I feel like some notes have a long attack, and some have a short one!
I'm new to modulation. But maybe you patched VCO 1 and 2 outs to the VF enveloppe or something like that? I'd really appreciate your help on this for a better understanding of my subharmonicon !
Thanks for your comment! I believe this is due to the difference in durationbetween the VCF attack and release and the VCA attack and release (all 4 parameters are slow). The filter will slowly open and close. If the sequence happens to change to the next step while the filter is more open, and while the VCA has ramped up a bit, it will end up with more of an "attack" sound. I don't think it has to with the patching I have. I'm still trying to understand my Subharmonicon as well, so I might be wrong on why it's behaving this way. Try it yourself and see what results you get!
@@SyllixMusic brilliant response thanks a lot! I find the relationship between cutoff, vcf and VCA attack and delay is the most challenging to understand. The most fun also!
Your answer makes a lot of sense thanks again!
This is amazing!
suuper awesome!😍
Mine arrives tomorrow, and I’m already intrigued- how slow will this thing go? I had pondered clocking it from the SQ-64- 30bpm minimum- but this seems much more laid back!
It will go pretty darn slow. Subdivide the polyrhythm by 16 and turn the tempo down and time stops :D
Maravilloso 👏👏👏👏👏👏😊
Lovely!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Is that a minilogue xd in the background?
Close! It's the original minilogue!
Do you use Valhalla Shimmer on these patches?
I use it pretty much every time!
Oh... Is it only moog sounds? nothing else?
so the moog subharmicon can do basses??
Yes, absolutely!
Is this like a self generating kind Of a thing?
Technically it isn't. It's a pre-programmed polyrhythm moving at a very slow speed.
@@SyllixMusic ok, thanks!

We need a tutorial on this
I was thinking about doing an "ambient patch creation" sort of video. Stay tuned...
Subscribed just in case...
cheap sound
Yeah, that classic cheap Moog sound right? 😂
