I asked my 11 year old daughter who she wanted to marry when she when she marries, and she said “I want to marry a black man.” I said why? Her response, “because I feel they would understand me.” It was such a beautiful moment. I know she gets that from my relationship with her mother (wife of 12 years). She sees that I understand her mother on a mental, emotional, physical and spiritual way, where she at 11 years old can see that no one is better suited for a black woman than a black man. I sensed that he was initially enthralled of who she was but once she encountered some health issues...he was kind of turned off. I don't think he was in love. That statement you made about black men understanding black women the best is so true. I asked my 11 year old daughter who she wanted to marry when she when she marries, and she said “I want to marry a black man.” I said why? Her response, “because I feel they would understand me.”
It was such a beautiful moment. I know she gets that from my relationship with her mother (wife of 12 years). She sees that I understand her mother on a mental, emotional, physical and spiritual way, where she at 11 years old can see that no one is better suited for a black woman than a black man.
