It's enough to make you laugh and cry at the same time when you read back at how some of these guys ate and trained and still looked as otherworldly as they did
I SAW GUNNER ROSBO WHEN I COMPETED IN EGYPT AND I CAN TELL YOU HE WAS NOTHING LIKE ARNOLD, BUT EVERYONE CALLED HIM ELEPHANT ARMS I HAD BREAKFAST WITH TIM BELKNAP, HAD A STARE OFF WITH KEN PASARILLO WHO WAS IN MY CLASS, I MUST SAY THE ORGANISERS OF THAT COMP REALLY MADE US FEEL SPECIAL. BILLY NIGHT WAS THE TEAM CAPTAIN OF THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM . HE EVEN HAD POSING TRUNKS FOR ALL OF US THAT WE HAD TO GIVE BACK, IT WAS GREAT POSING NEAR THE SPHINX. GARY LEWER ENDED UP IN HOSPITAL BECAUSE HE DRIED OUT TOO MUCH ,I ALMOST MISSED MY TIME ON STAGE BECAUSE I WAS HAVING A BEER WITH THE MIDDLE WEIGHT OF OUR TEAM. ALL IN ALL IT WAS FUN FOR ALL OF US , GREAT MEMORIES IN A TIME THAT WILL NEVER BE REPEATED. THANKS TO YOU THESE TIMES WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND YOUR CHANNEL.
Thank you! I'm really enjoying making them, so I'm glad there's a small audience for my content that's receptive and values what I'm doing. Love the feedback!
Seems very much like a father figure to those he looked out for. Again Daddy issues and Bodybuilders. Nasser was a cerebral bodybuilder who would have made a great Mr Olympia. His is a tale of woe and towards the end he was embittered towards the Industry. Philosophical and an intense worker.
He mentioned in the book it was a very common thread between many of the bodybuilders - absent/abusive fathers, low self esteem, financially poor backgrounds etc Yes, Nasser would make a good topic for a video if/when I can work out an angle. I'm working on Flex Wheeler right now among 20 other things lol. Stind, just want to thank you also for the coffees you donated and signing up as my first monthly supporter. Really mate, you have no idea how much this means to me. Very much appreciated and I hope I continue to deliver
I appreciate quality work as I'm sure many more will. Just as an aside to get greater traction I noticed that Carl Weathers died recently. A tremendous physique and actor from what I know he worked with Vince Gironda as did a number of Hollywood luminaries. I remember his picture with Vince in 'The Wild Physique'. It may be an idea to look into such an iconic figure to sort of open you up to a more mainstream youtube audience. Not to capitalise on his sad passing but a tribute. He was definitely a training influence on many Rocky fans and far better shape than Stallone in the earlier films.
I use to own the muscle and fitness issue with Gunnar and Lou posing in Egypt. That guy had some serious forearms. The rest of him was pretty impressive too. J can't believe the guy looked that good and was a full blown whisky drinker. I drank my fare share of whisky a few years back and I think it damaged my heart. Stay away from alcohol kids.
Good worlds of advice Stefan. 😂 I love that photo shoot ot Lou and Gunnar - and yes it'd amazing how those guys could do everything wrong with their training, eating, binge drinking etc and still create timeless physiques
After watching many times the video by M Martinez “Dream Big,” I was interested in this info so got the Audible version of Three Muscleteers. I don’t think I got very far. I didn’t think Ed’s voice narration generated much enthusiasm and also some of his claims - like aggregating the revenue of many Golds Gyms which licensed the trademark logo and claiming it was generated by the 3 Muscleteers - was misleading. I was underwhelmed enough straight away from the start that I have not finished listening to the book. But at least I bought it when choosing how to use 1 credit from Amazon Audible app. 😊Pete Grymkowski could probably tell the story better. I find sponsors of bodybuilders to be a little suspect in their motives but at least like Joe Weider it made Ed’s fortune. That’s why maybe Grymkowski would be better, from my perspective, to tell the story.
I have no doubt that Pete's stories would be more colorful, but I could only tell my own. Narrating the book took 7 days to read 7 hours, and the trick is to strike an even tone throughout the read, something which was totally new to me. I think one good, maybe unusual, aspect of my book is that it can be read out of order. It's not chronological. I hope you'll dive in and randomly listen to one of the chapters. As regards the aggregate revenue of all the Gold's Gym locations in 2004, I'm estimating gross revenue of over $1BN: 704 locations x $1.5M per club (average, the Venice Gold's Gym, for example, did $6M a year).
@@carvedouttastone I came back to apologize for this comment. I don’t know what was going on with me when I wrote this but it was off cuff and uncalled for. I’m ashamed I said this and hope Ed Connors forgives me. I must’ve been taking on dark energy. He seems like a sound business man and I am sure his partners at Golds Gym and in the future know it for a fact. Maybe it was a snide remark or gesture by Lee Priest on Rx Muscle that began negative ideas. I wish I hadn’t said it and can’t delete without apologizing first.

1:06 Is that John Cena?
Yes - Ed has a chapter how he discovered Cena in the carpark of Gold's
1:23 that’s not Piana

Can you expand on what you mean when you say "suspect" in Ed's case. He clears those accusations up in the book

Nasser is a Arabic bosnia .
Wikipedia page - Sonbaty was born in the German city of Stuttgart to an Egyptian father and a Yugoslav mother from Novi Pazar, Serbia.
