That "Because you're so F***ing **_Predictible_** Was MUAH *Chefs kiss*
"You're not an outlier" is what Seldon said.
He should have predicted the punch also
He should have predicted the punch also
Terrible british acting
I have the hypothesis that seldon lied about psychohistory not being able to predict individuals.
I think he programmed a deterministic simulation of the universe in the prime radiant but he cant tell anyone, because that would not bring a desired future.
I mean, genius or what.
Saves the people, destroys a fleet, cripples and empire, gets a whole race as an ally and at the same time another version of himself starts work on a race of people with mind powers as his own.
Loose a settlement and planet and a big ship.
Big wins!
even more genius is that he gave the prime radiant to demerzel who, as a robot, is the most predictable being in the universe.
Now seldon knows exactly what path demerzel is gonna choose
The little love tap at the end there... weirdly comical.
Brutality was all he has left at that point. He was beaten completely. Day has literally nothing to gain from beating Mallow and Riose. He just had no other play.
"Violence is the last resort of the incompetent". That hasn't been as emphasized in this show as it should have been, but it is as exemplified in this scene.
@@herpderp159 Yet many defeaded rulers manage to fight theyr way from absolute loss just to destroy theyr enemies utterly.
FAILURE OF LERNING FROM HYSTORY is the bigest incompetence ever.
You never celebrate victory untill you have head of your enemy in your hands.
As much as he was trying to oppose the predictability point, the punch was ironically completely predictable. Brutality and sadism are all he had. They were his base instincts which he never tried to overcome.
Oh come on, don't overcomplicate it. What else was he supposed to do? Continue to let the guy talk shit after confessing to how he had trapped him to die? He punched him out of anger, plain and simple, the same that any of us would feel in this instance @@herpderp159
@@herpderp159 Even then he still lost. Got tossed out of the ship in the end.
I loved this scene so much. Everyone sticking it to Day, revealing to him what he was too shallow to grasp for himself. So very powerful. The series is amazing! Can’t wait for the next season.
Hober Mallow may not have had long, but goddamn if he didn't shine with the time he had
The way that spacer says "its a price" omg solid delivery. She understood and took her life. Amazing.
I think this time the Empire will collapse, losing its entire fleet and his spacer is a catastrophe.
this with dawn going out of his own will cause at least a civil war in the next 30 years, plus without the boot that the spacers provided, empire will lose most of their terretory outside of the center in the next 100 years, some empire probably will remain for the mull to fight over in the next season, but most of the empire will be warring states
The empire is no longer capable of FTL flight, they only got a very small amount of spacers in control that cannot be replace and their fleet is destroyed they can rebuild the ships but they can’t go to FTL I expect the empire to turn in defensive status keeping fleets on defense of planets that are strategic
@@AgentK-im8ke Empire can still absolutely do Faster Than Light Travel. If you remember the Deliverance, the original ship that carried the Foundation exiles, it took 5 years to travel from Trantor to Terminus, but the distance was actually 50000 light years.
That's way way faster than light speed and it's a very common form of transport. It still would be a severe disadvantage tho compared to the jump drives which were essentially instantaneous teleportation.
@@chinguunerdenebadrakh7022 it was not jump drive it was hyper space only the invictus was capable of jumping
Man we need more Lee Pace projects. He has more definitely been underused. Marvel did a underwhelming job giving him Ronan in MCU. Such an underrated actor.
I knew Day was going to smack someone.
And that someone even told him how predictable he was
he also happen to smack the most smackable person in the room!
@@scanamana the more he tried to show how original he was, the more he showed how predictable he was.
Knew the Deal got through. And I love that - seemingly - everyone onboard the ship was...uhm....onboard with the fleet getting "swallowed" by itself bit by bit.
I mean, they weren't in on it, only the spacers were and they collectively agreed to sacrifice themselves to save the rest of their species.
Cant wait for season 3
In one fell swoop, Empire's fleet is wiped out, that will create one hell of a Vacuum in the inner galaxy
Hober Mallow is the Han Solo of The Foundation.
Empire: “Someone shut him up. No. I’ll do it myself.” 👊🏻
The emperor was pissed off. 😂
Ronan the Accuser Post-Guardians of the Galaxy
that voice ..... makes sense now didnt relize before.
@@COMMANDERHAWK22 Probably cuz he doesn’t sound too aggressive.
Can't wait for season 3!
A scooby doo moment.
Violence is the last resort of the weak
Wait he brought every ship in his navy?
The Cleon Dynasty never did believe in subtlety. After what they did to Thespis and Anacraeon, I’m not surprised.
with there entire fleet destroyed and the lack of spacers, they are fucked, they can't hold an empire togethers that is already breaking apart
@@koenwaalde very true.
Because this Cleon/Day in particular is an impetuous idiot.
Yes. Its called bad writing
They could also have tested the coordinates? Empire also had a bunch of engineers onboard who could blast away the door for him? They had some time you know..
god i hate the quippy writing
They are all pretty relaxed, considering they are about to die ...
You can reach a point when death do not scare you anymore.
Again, not in the books. Nearly this entire series is unrelated to the books, except for the names, and the idea of psychohistory.
I think that is in the books?
Fuck off book supremacist, this is better.
I think some of the themes are there too, or at least, you can see what they're trying to put out there. My issue with virtually every "not the books" argument is that it comes across as they didn't watch the show for itself. Rather hoping for a visualization of a book series that, in my opinion, lacks the characterization and serialization for the typical tv show. The show has writing and portrayal flaws in of itself, but these are rarely the focal point of "not the book" arguments, which is my point.
For someone who hasn’t read the books, I could care less, it’s a great show
You do know Asimov himself was like, entirely opposed to 1-1 adaptations of his works right?
Original version in of 1940s "Astounding" had hyper atomic or hyper nuclear motor motivator drives and is closer to "Star Wars" so spacers are closer to "Meltrandi of Macross Robotech", "Hayakawa SF", Huxley's "rocket plane engineers", etc.
Am i still predictable?
Is a frogs ass watertight?
Jesus that dialogue is horrendous.
Jejejejejebaited, Jejejejejebaited, Jejejejejebaited, Jejejejejebaited
Interesting, none of that happened in the books.
I never read the books so the show is good to me
"My nonappearance on the screen has not bothered me. I am strictly a print person. I write material that is intended to appear on a printed page, and not on a screen, either large or small. I have been invited on numerous occasions to write a screenplay for motion picture or television, either original, or as an adaptation of my own story or someone else's, and I have refused every time. Whatever talents I may have, writing for the eye is not one of them, and I am lucky enough to know what I can't do.
On the other hand, if someone else -- someone who has the particular talent of writing for the eye that I do not have -- were to adapt one of my stories for the screen, I would not expect that the screen version be 'faithful' to the print version."
Isaac Asimov
God "book puritans" don't even know that the guy who wrote the fucking thing would hate them
Apple TV lied to us by naming this series "Foundation" - This show was the biggest "bait and switch" in TV history....It might have been almost interesting if they called it something else and hadn't tried to pretend it had anything to do with the stories Asimov wrote.
But then Apple would have been criticised for using Foundation concept such as Foundation, the psychic, the mule, Asimov three laws.
Always your kind of book supremacist. God damn, the series itself is what made me read Asimovs Foundation series at the first place. Even if it werent as perfect similar, it still serves the grand idea of the rise and fall of any empire in human history, and still tell the same story even it has different details such as character, plot and timeline. I dont think there will be any better adaptation at all if it wasnt for Apple. So respectfully stfu .
@@wahyuagengrahinoDisrespectfully, go float in a barrel down the Niagra Falls. This SHOW literally opposes the main themes of the original books by making it a story about two heroes saving the damned day in one fell swoop. That's... the opposite of plot/story/details of Foundation. Oh well. Enjoy your pretty pictures and flashy lights chump.
@@wahyuagengrahino”book supremacist” lmao what a twat
It’s always one😂 those stories were boring the show would have flopped season 1 folks must like it 2 seasons so far
Why did they do this to day there was no escape killing a cleon means nothing when there's alredy bakcups ready
Remember he was with the robot and she left meaning if she stayed that would have been the end of the empire.
@@josephmanu2740That's true, they almost destroyed the Empire. Dawn would have had his new baby, and he would have refused to wake up another Day. Dusk would have been the grumpy grandpa that would eventually embrace the new heritage, and would live a happy life with the asian chick
It wasn't about killing Day. It was about decimating his war fleet. Sure, he has a backup, but without a fleet what can his backup do ? Shout harsh words ?
the goal was wiping out the fleet and freeing the freeing the spacers at the same time, with the spacers part beiing the most important, they need them to be able to use there fleet without them they have just big slow moving ships, now they can only use the ships the foundation used to travel to terminus a hunder years ago, they are to slow to hold most of the outer teratories for long, so they will brake away and the empire will desintergrate faster because of it
the last episode was too rushed
Wow these people are in charge of an intergalatic empire and they are dumb enough to send every ship in their fleet at once despite the possibility of such an event occuring? Also, why are they all so weirdly calm and humorous when they are about to die?
Well, that was the point, Cleon predictably liked to make examples and dramatic gestures in instilling his will. They have been around for 573 (12,000 if you include the entire galactic empire and not just the genetic dynasty) years and have grown comfortable with their dominion over the galaxy. They other guys are calm because they have nothing left to lose, they literally just watched everyone they knew and love die. Being able to strike back as a one last fuck you to the emperor is a surprise.
decadence. Look at what Russia did in the russo-japanese war, sent their entire Baltic (?) fleet around europe, whole africa (suez was closed) then asia to fight japan and they got decimated
@@Solaxe Look at Russia in Ukraine today. Absolute dictatorships are a flawed way to run an empire.
Bad writing
Foundation in name only
I have read and loved the complete foundation series of books. It is a pity that this series has almost nothing to do with it. The foundation was just meant to stay quiet and survive.
Yeah, I don't mind TV shows making changes to books when adapting, sometimes they're damn great (like the genetic dynasty) but the show has more or less replaced the core of the Foundation story and made it just another scifi where galactic events revolve around the success or failure of a couple "heroes", instead of being moved forward by human nature and the sheer weight of human mass and galactic history.
Yeah its a pity we have a good tv show to watch. You know the books are still there to enjoy but now we have something new and fresh to watch on tv.
it is a great show, dont get me wrong on that account. But if you are going to base a show on something then stay true to that story line.@@Ryan-zv3os
that genietic thing was cleaver, and I think Asimov would have liked it.@@Luthies
@@Ryan-zv3os They could have made a good tv show without completely abandoning the source material, see The Expanse for example. No one here is saying adaptations need to follow source material word for word, but imo in general they should at least maintain the core premise.
The stilted dialogue and the staging of the scenes feel like these old dusty BBC theatre plays. It gets tiring after a while.
so much explaining in excruciating details and in a monotone voice while they all wait to die
this is so bad
this show does not trust his viewers
What is this?!? I've read Foundation when I was 12,and multiple times since. What is this?!?
It's called 'Naming a show something fans will recognize, then not giving them the show they expected.' You know, typical Hollywood these days.
the best scifi show on tv.
Cleon I the last galactic emperor of the Entun Dynasty was in the book. This is something original for the TV series that was actually needed because the book could be quite boring at times.
It's called a fucking ADAPTATION. The books as written would not translate well to TV.
@@DavidKnowles0It's a great science fiction show. But it's a terrible adaptation.
The hell is with this dialogue? Aasimov's work deserves better.
OK, each ship jumps to the position of the neighboring ship. The neighboring ship and the jumping ship are destroyed. The neighboring ship can then no longer jump... End... Recursion doesn't work if the neighboring ship jumps beforehand.
God this show is terrible… the acting and script and story 🤮 Lee Pace is a GOD and the only thing holding it together
Totally Disagree, what syfy shows do u think are good?
@@woozy607 on now? None. Zero. Everything is trash. Star Trek (except discovery) is rhe hood standard. Or battlestar season 1 and 2 and half of 3, Orville 1 and 2 were brilliant. Season 3 was eye cancer
@@Arcadia1701 100% Orville season 3 was horrible, I think all the new star treks off shoots are good. I couldn’t get threw battlestar, I’ve tried several times, I guess I just don’t like the plot that some humans are robots, to me it’s not that interesting, maybe I will try a 4th or 5th time. Halo is decent, westworld season one was good, the last of us was good, The Peripheral on Amazon was real good, stranger things, altered carbon season one was amazing, mandolorian and the off shoots, See is good, The boys is my #1 then peacemaker.. all I gotta say is ur missing out on some really good shows
I can't tell whats more insufferable. These characters or the writing.
I've read the foundation series a dozen or more times and I have no idea what the hell this series is supposed to be. Other than the name there isn't any of the book here it's all just something the writers made up..... None of this scene exists in the books. Zero.
Relieved to hear that I'm not the only one who didn't recognize this scene from the books.
@@guerrillascholar It's a foundation themed series from what I have seen from other clips that is injecting modern tropes and social issues into the story and simply erasing the actual story. There was very little actual conflict in the series especially open warfare. Just a few hints of it in some chapters.
isn’t that better this way?
@@carlosandleon How? What is the point of making a series based on the foundation novels if you are not even going to use the source material. Thats how far out this series is. There isn't anything in it past some terms and names that have anything to do with the original story in the slightest. I'm not saying its a bad show its not but its certainly not foundation.
@@nonaurbizniz7440 then read the books and accept that the TV show isn’t scene for scene.
Are the books of Asimov as woke as this series?
I loved the books, but haven't seen this series. How is it "woke"?
@@DavidLS1 I think Daniel meant gay relationships.
@@mardus_ee That makes sense. People who use the word 'woke' as an insult tend to be either racist or homophobic or both.
Not only that, it has a lot of black people, people with asian ethnicity, women and one gay couple, so of course "those" people scream "woke" all the time when they have the opportunity to do so.
Unwatchably BAD.
What a terrible scene. Asimov deserved so much beter. It's so sad.
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. Got completely thrown out in this show.
I thought it was epic!
I absolutely loved it.
Asimov deserves people who can spell to defend him.
This scene is remarkably bland. All the actors sound bored, detached.
Like, ok shouldn't the saboteur be at least a little be excited? Adrenaline pumping a bit knowing they're about to get vaporized AND have their revenge at the same time? Like, who so calmly says "Yo bro, I like blew up all your spacer ships. Good trick ya?"
Oh look, a book reader commented.
The writing on this show is so terrible
