Sony A6700 has a Problem that locks the camera up

- In this video I show how my Sony a6700 has a problem in that the camera will lock up for seconds at a time.
This happened to me on the job using the a6700 and off camera flash the camera would at random quit working.
See the video for more information and to see it happen as I can reproduce this over and over with different flash systems.
This needs to be fixed. It makes it impossible to use on portrait session jobs using flash.
Hi. I've mentioned your video in a couple of my videos now. I have viewers that have had the same issue as well as the same result using older Sigma lenses. Sigma recently released a firmware update to resolve the issue with their 56mm f1.4 (not sure about the other lenses). I've ben shooting with old Sigma lenses, the X2 Godox trigger, their V1 flash, and the TT350 mini speedlights without any issues so far. Have you managed some resolution?

I got in a second one and it is worse then the first one locking up when looking at the preview images. And this is with no flash or trigger used. Can not go from one image to the next as it will lock up , shows a black screen with I first press the preview image button for many seconds till it shows the image and then may lock up after the image comes up or I might get to see a few image and then it locks up. I have yet to be able to see all my images going from on to the next without it locking up. Some times I need to turn the camera off and one to get it back to normal. Another video on the way. With flash and a new Sony version trigger it gets even worse with locking up and outright not recording images/photos it triggers the flash but dose not take the photo at times but sometimes it will.
Ok after more testing I think I had a card and camera settings problem I now have this newer one working. I think i was having a problem as I used a card that had camera settings from the one i sent back on it and that was messing it up for some reason. After removing the camera setting saved t the card and taking the card in and out it is now working with flash . The new Sony trigger I got in and the other triggers as well all work now and the on camera manual flash is working as well now to.
Sigma has updates for it's lenses addressing this problem now. I got this issue with the 56mm and 30mm.

What SD card are you using? I hear these lock ups don't happen on v60 or v90 cards.
I am using V60 cards.. Everything is all working now that i got replacement camer. I have two of them now.
👍🤔🤔🤔🤔 some news about the problem? Did you try the flash controleler with other a6700 or 6600 or other brands?
I just bought the A6700 and have been using it for weeks now. Overall I love the camera but I have the same problem when I am filming. The screen locks up. I turn the camera off, and the screen is still on and locked up. I have to pull the battery. It only happens at odd times. I will be contacting Sony about a replacement.
Good luck they world not replace mine I had to send it back and then buy another to replace it. Sony wanted me to send it in for repair that would take around 30 days for it all.
Sigma 16, 30 and 56 f1.4 causes a 1- to 15 second frreze every 20 or so shots. I dont have the issue on Tamron 17-70 or sigma 18-50.
I have the same problem. It started when I started attaching Canon lenses to it. It behaves exactly as you are describing.
I've had the same issue a few times with no flash, Sony and Sigma lenses
You need to update the firmware of your sigma lenses
What godox model are you using on this video?
Have the same problem with Tokina 23 1.4 and (old) SELP1650!! No problem with 18-135
Mine is still freezing even after 1.02 firmware
Seems it is more prevalent with sigma lenses.
It appears to be happening for me on my Sigma 16mm lens only. I have Sony and Tamron lenses also but have no issue with them. Both the camera and lens are on the latest firmware.
@@StephenGreenCrowthorne after I updated to the latest firmware on my Tamron lenses it fixed the issue.. That however can't be said about sigma 16mm, still freezing. From my testing it is freezing less with electronic shutter and never froze on me in video mode.
I have a A6700 also, I am getting warning messages from the camera when using non-Sony batteries, I would not be surprised if Sony was trying to limit the camera to Sony flashes.

Is you SD card a v90? What Sd card are you using?
This was all fixed after I sent it back and got a replacement. I have two of them now with no problems.
what's the cameras firmware?
Hearing more and moreabout this issue. A bit concerning to say the least.

It happen to me too, when im shooting off camera flash using Trigger from Godox. I have to release the battery.

Mine freezing even without flash, totally random, with random lesnes, including sony lenses.
My replacement so far is working right.

I sent it back and got another one and it's all working great . I have two of them now all working with all my flash systems. It was just a problem with just that one camera it seems.
Minecraft during video had to take the battery out to restart it. I did a firmware update and it took care of the problem
make sure all firmwares are updated
I did and talked to Sony they wanted me to send it in to be fixed but that would take around a month with all the shipping.
I sent it back and ordered another one I just got in. I have not had time to test it yet it is charging right now..

@@Patrick-vi9xr I send the first one back. The send one so far is working right, I tested with all my flash and triggers and it works. I just shot a job with it yesterday and everything worked right no lock ups or problems and I use off camera flash. Will be shooting another job with it later today. I also now have a second a6700 on the way should be here tomorrow so looks like the next batch is out.
I will try mine, got it for video but I’ll try my Godox 200’s when I get home tonight, thanks
@@KenToney I had sent it back and got a replacement and it works and then I picked up a second one that also works with flash. I have been using them a few times a week on jobs now and all is good. That first one had a problem.
