What are the trains that are lettered in the 3000’s??? They sound much different than the SD70 cars

They're S70's too. 3000 series are the full length 90ft model while the 4000 series are the streetcar length model. Mechanically they're identical and they make the same sound.

3000's are only used on the Green Line due to C st not being able to accommodate them. Also the seats are going vinyl on the S70's.
