Flat Train I’m coming back to San Diego this year for my vacation. I’m definitely going to ride the Blue Line. I can’t believe the great memories this video brought back for me. I use to ride the trolley from Palm Ave (Palm City) to City College every week day for a year. Thank you again for posting.
Last time I was on the Trolley, two men were fighting and screaming at one another. Then on the way back someone was screaming into their phone. Cool train but feels unsafe at times
I can't count how many times I took pieces of this trip during the time I was in San Diego (I left in 2008), particularly the portion between the Iris Ave. and 24th Street stations, whether it was for school, shopping, or emergency-type trips, such as when my grandfather died in 1987 or when I was having my legs operated on in 2001, when we took this to 5th Avenue and took the #3 bus to the UCSD Medical Center. And believe it or not, this was the very first modern light rail line in the USA, opening in July of 1981 as a way to commute between San Diego and the Mexican border.
No problem. What happened was that I was pulled out of school so we could pack up for our trip to Baltimore (where I am now), and the following day, the way we got to San Diego Airport (which is one of the absolute worst airports to try to get to, in terms of accessibility) was to take the Trolley after crossing the border (we lived in TJ at the time), and I believe we took an airport shuttle from the Santa Fe Depot, but it was so long ago that I can't remember that part of it. By the way, we took Amtrak back to San Diego, which included a 6-hour stopover in Chicago, during which we took a bus down Lakeshore Drive to kill some of the time (about 90 minutes to two hours on that round trip from Union Station in Chicago and back), and the Amtrak line we took from Chicago to Fullerton, CA, the Desert Wind, no longer even exists.
Not necessarily a railfan as much as someone who like to travel, especially on the ground where he could see things. It didn't matter whether it was by rail or by car or bus. On the rare times we could go on lengthy trips, I always enjoyed it. In fact, living on the east coast now, if I'm ever able to make trips to, say, New York or Walt Disney World and the other theme parks in Orlando, FL, I would prefer to go by bus or train. However, we made the mistake on our first cross-country train trip in 1986, when we went from San Diego to Baltimore (with stopovers in Los Angeles and Chicago), not to get a sleeper car. Needless to say that, on the return trip and that 1987 trip from Baltimore to DC to Chicago to Fullerton, we got a sleeper car. (Those were the only train trips we ever made, outside of the many trips on the San Diego Trolley.) But on that '87 trip on the Desert Wind, my dad wanted to take photos of the Mormon temple when we passed Salt Lake City, but it was during the overnight hours when we got to Salt Lake City, putting an end to that idea.
First I took the orange line from Massachusetts avenue to 12th imperial avenue and then I switched light rail trolley system then we were at American plaza we were approaching America plaza and then we were almost close to Santa Fe Depot so we went to America plaza to look at the boat

Yeah someone was yelling at the cops. I’m posting orange line today and you will hear him there.
Agreed. Maybe if transit agencies would hire private security that would be better

This line does attract some rough characters.

I hate how these trains have those awful horns instead of gongs.
The horn sounds ok. The buzzer takes the gongs place
