No you can't print directly on a black shirt without pre treat or underbase (the white underbase is how you see the colored image on a black shirt and the pretreat is what prevents the white from basically seeping into the shirt fibers) ..however you could print the DTF transfer instead and apply to a black shirt which would require no pre treat.
Sorry - I will have to test that, but yes usually if the ink color is darker than the shirt, it's fine. It works that way on my BT-12 where there is no white ink

Where can you get one for $10k, I’ll probably buy it today, especially if they still have the 2-year warranty. ...do they say how much it cost in ink per shirt?
It can be expensive. I replace my white about every month to month and a half at about $450 for both. You usually have to replace both one right after the other. Most dark shirts at a level 4 or 5 (out of 6) cost about 2-2.50 of ink. That plus a economic shirt that costs 2.50, Pretreat, and labor. Look at charging a minimum of $15 a shirt to make some money. The color inks last a long time but the white runs out pretty fast.

Hi melissa, I'mcan you help me with this decision? I am considering getting the Prestige l2 with the l16 shaker, but I can't need help finding reviews on it. I have been watching your videos and am considering going the Epson f2100 route because of your opinions. However, I would do less DTG printing. Any advice or anything that you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Hi - They're really two totally different machines. The Prestige l2 is a 16" DTF printer that can connect to an inline system and will allow you to print gang sheets and more DTF faster. I do not have the Prestige l2 so it's impossible to say much about that one other than what I know about it which is requires on site install, prints pretty fast, prints off a roll and can print gang sheets. The Epson F2100's max size for DTF sheet is 16x19 with the largest platen. I LOVE the F2100 for its ease of use, intuitive software (that works on a mac too) and the quality of both the printer and the shirts/transfers. I have a lot more videos coming. @@SilhouetteSchool but All Black Ink on a light colored Shirt (I.e. pink 👚) would show up without pretreatment though right?
