This scene is so great. It shows the frustrations and plights shared by both sides of the epidemic. The junkies that seriously do try to get help like society and the government tells them to have to backflip and twirl through fucking hoops to actually get the help they truly need because of red tape. But at the same time, the guy behind the desk also was in the right because he's only doing his job and Roth's character was unjustly taking it out on him. I feel like applauding both of them.

As a junkie myself, I can tell you it is not that hard. The more times you fail, the harder it is. First time I tried when I was 17 the doctor said he would get me in that day! The thing is, as the guy says, they decided that day they want to kick right now, it is impossible and supremely arrogant. There will be scores or hundreds ahead of you and plus, to detox you need examination, you need to be checked to ensure your body can handle the pressure of opiate withdrawl without giving you pancreatitis or pneumonia

    • @robertmeadowfield4346

@k-blue, i disagree. The guy behind the desk is right, because rules are rules. You don't bend the world and adjust it to you, you adjust yourself to it, otherwise it's dictatorship and anarchy. You want help, you apply and stay in line as every other of your fellow American.

Same. You start out working in your profession oriented in community medical care while thinking that everyone is on the same page wanting to truly make a difference . However yet you soon come to realize they are simply overworked and overburdened with a limited staff within a system of limiting rules and thus really incapable of totally meeting the demands thrown upon them. Result = you quickly become tired , jaded and frustrated yourself just as the rest already were when you began .

I 'member seein' this scene, my favourite part of the movie. I laughed so hard I nearly pissed myself. I ain't never laughed that hard since "Coming to America".

I used to be the guy at the other side of the glass. It's a hard job. Everyone come to ask for help, but not everyone get what they expect. So frequently You became the target of their anger.

Hell yeah, this scene lol Pac was on his way , not only phenomenal poet and artist but on his way movie star. He had natural presence on the screen..he made it look easy, just like his songs.

I gotta start taking off my glasses when I’m being serious. That’s a power move. Gotta make sure I’m sitting though so I don’t walk into shit.
