He wanted to avoid paper cuts after nearly losing his finger, so he cut the paper instead of tearing it. Don't pay any attention to the paradox or the universe will collapse in on itself.
I'll always remember where I was when I saw Matt heroically soldier on through unimaginable pain and shock to maintain the presentation standards of SSAARCASFPAA.
These are by far my favorite videos on RUclips. I don't care that there's only been eight of them uploaded in the past three years. These videos are definitely worth the wait.
There would have been something to see, too, because those machines are terrible at mixing multiplication and addition. I had to use one at a retail counter for years. So many accounting errors came about because of not clearing between tax and total.
At 5:30 when he gets 496, this was actually a highlight in Matt's career where he proved the mathematics of the Yang Mills mass gap and subsequently won a Millennium Prize from the Clay Institute!
after testing calculators how about testing computercalculators. windows has one by default and you could also do a test with exel and a lot of other programs that do calculations. just an idea. and you could also test SIRI, Cortana and how ever googles names it software tool for that on their capabilities of math. I wonder who of them would win in a competition.
+Lasse Nicolajsen He mentioned that he wouldn't score it because this was an exhibition piece, but... It endured being shown its own errors, so that's a 10. For cred, it gets the upsidedown answer to life, the universe, and everything: 58008.
also serves as a cash register - used one of those for many years at a little cycle shop. You have to be careful when mixing multiplication and addition. I was trained to completely clear out before switching between the two. I think it's technically an adding machine, which is slightly different than a calculator.
Spoiler alert! As usual, WONDERFUL humor! I loved the warning at the beginning, the pixellated wound (except when it wasn't), the "bandage," feed, pixellated paper cuts, and the SS&ARCASfP&A. And more ... Also interesting to see there was no welded transparent aluminium packaging in those days.
What, no sqrt(2) * sqrt(2) test? I know the injury you sustained in the line of duty was very traumatic but you must press on (buttons) and bravely print what no calculator has printed before!
And risk dulling the edges for when he needs to do some high stakes calculations later on?? You never want to put yourself in a position when you're trying to do fast-paced maths and then RIP your calculation history gets all torn up. It's just not worth it, even for a demonstration.
Matt, I feel confident to say that the paper feeder most likely comes with a cutting edge to make it easier to tear off the paper. This would therefore eliminate the need for scissors. Thanks for the video, I always look forward to your unboxing videos.
People get "triggered" by anything these days. Soon someone will get triggered by a calculator being unboxed (high school trauma or something) and he will have to censor the entire video.
You don't need to stop and wait for it to print between each calculation. You can continue punching in your numbers, and the printer will catch up. In my opinion, there are few things more satisfying than hearing the calculator hard at work printing after you've finished entering in a long series of calculations. In fact, the ability to perform a long series of calculations quickly, and then easily go back and double check them afterwards is one of the main benefits of such a calculator.
The added blur effects are hilarious. Prior to calculators, there were adding machines. While I barely remember the situation, as a kid I got my fingers stuck in my uncle's electric adding machine. There were bits that went up and down to print the numbers on the paper and I got tangled in that while trying to get a closer look at what was happening.
Mr Parker, you didn't need to cut the paper, it has serrations above the feed so you can tear the paper. I think that bit of advanced engineering deserves some plus points.
is it normal to get ridiculously excited about new calculator unboxing videos? because i get incredibly excited about every new calculator unboxing video :'^)
The only scenes I found upsetting were the ones where Matt cut off the paper instead of tearing using the dedicated hardware.
He wanted to avoid paper cuts after nearly losing his finger, so he cut the paper instead of tearing it. Don't pay any attention to the paradox or the universe will collapse in on itself.
Keeping the dedicated cutter sharp i̶n̶c̶r̶e̶a̶s̶e̶s̶ retains your calculator's resale value though.
That paradox is just an attention seeker

I'll always remember where I was when I saw Matt heroically soldier on through unimaginable pain and shock to maintain the presentation standards of SSAARCASFPAA.
Thank you. I take my line of work seriously.
It was almost as intense as Lancel Lannister trying to put out candles under the sept of Baelor...
I don't know how he found the strength to carry on!
What does SSAARCASFPAA stand for? :-D
South Surrey and associated regions calculator appreciation society for professionals and amateurs.
Disclaimer: A mathematician was hurt in the making of this video.
I'm calling PETH
also paper violence.
You mean PETM?
In that case, I'll watch it
Tis But a Scratch !
Thought you were gonna blur 58008 too.
I AM FURIOUS! I was promised TWO COLOUR PRINTING! The blood loss clearly got to Matt. I demand a 2nd Part for the numbers of colour.
We may never know what the second color is. 😔
idk if it was Matt's or Brady's idea, but the REACT(tm) cracked me up :D
That was Brady's idea. Which is good, you know, just in case anyone gets sued.
Just make a 'Sorry Guys' video if that happens. I'm sure CGP Grey can help out with that.
+standupmaths the fine bros are gonna be pissed
+iLLixer404 or even better they can REACT (tm) to it.
"We Even Trademarked It!™"
Ah, Casio, the brand that tries to be Gaxio.
ha ha - Gaxio wannabes
Sick burn :D
TI for life.
Gaxio 4eva.
Gaxio gx will always be more powerful, change my mind
It's good, I'll admit but it's no Gaxio...
There is nothing like a Gaxio. Other than a Casio; they're quite similar.
58,000 + 8 ha! classic
Truly and with this highly professional printing technique the joke gets ever more convenient!
+Bippah now you can bring your calculation to the toilet and after you finished, get rid of the evidence. Convenient! Smartphone ARE expensive.
i dont get it
If you turn it upside down that is
isn't that easier to add 5 to 80080?
Calculators REACT™ to 1 ÷ 0 OMG lol
The meta is strong with this one, Tim.
+Mønkey It's a reference to the whole Fine Bros React World thing that happened a few months ago

??
so if we send matt weird calculators from around the world, we'll get more calculator unboxing videos. hmmm. I shall do this.
That is exactly the way it works.
We already have a pile unopened that were sent via the www.ssaarcasfpaa.com/ website!
Has anyone sent you an abacus yet?
+KasabianFan44 I wonder how Matt will do sqrt(2)
Yoppy Halilintar lol
So, what's the second color? :O
Red for negative numbers
White.
It's RED. But he didn't show it printing with his blood ...
It prints in red for about 4 out of every 28 days.
+
Wew, good thing you censored the paper being cut in half. That would've been too much for me.
i dint even know that this corner of the internet existed
The ssaarcasfpaa is the best corner of the internet.
It's not just a corner any longer. It's the south and associated regions.
This isn't sarcasm. As sarcastic calculator video would be funny though.
These are by far my favorite videos on RUclips. I don't care that there's only been eight of them uploaded in the past three years. These videos are definitely worth the wait.
"Freedom voltage", really?
'Murica!
'Murica!
Well I guess it's easier to remember than 120VAC 60Hz.
Make 120V Great Again!
D duck squad when you respond to a three year old comment
It's so weird that I get super excited whenever I see a new calculator unboxing video in my subscription box.
+Henex that's not weird
Only if you are an English Major
Welcome to the SSAARCASFPAA
false.
What a Parker Square. He forgot the order of operations test! How can you forget that!?
There would have been something to see, too, because those machines are terrible at mixing multiplication and addition. I had to use one at a retail counter for years. So many accounting errors came about because of not clearing between tax and total.

I want these viseos back. Top notch calculator reviewing.
Adapter squared. I died!
This is fantastic.

Petition to resurrect the calculator unboxing videos
matt i am begging you please make more of these
+1 only just discovered the series
Pure comedy gold
after testing calculators how about testing computercalculators. windows has one by default and you could also do a test with exel and a lot of other programs that do calculations.

How do you unbox those, though?
I wish there was more calculator unboxing!! It is hands down my favourite series here in RUclips.
Electrical tape and a brown napkin, the real man's band-aid.
Also, 58,008 turned upside down? You are my kind of man.
Didn't know a calculator review can be so fun to watch!
What did Matt say to Brady after finishing this video
Calculater
I'll show myself out
TED! TED! GET IN HERE! TED!
+Chase Gilley ooh, that's a rare parks and rec reference!
+TheLionTurtle Yeaa boy, I've seen every episode TWICE
Chase Gilley Lol same. And I've seen certain episodes upwards of like, 5 times. Every episode with the accounting office is one of those :)
I love the subtle touch of having completely unnecessary tools surrounding the unboxing. Quality stuff.
I'm sort of afraid to ask, but... Is Matt alright?
I made it. Just.
The show must go on!
Matt would bleed out before walking out on a shoot.
Thanks Matt, for giving a full calculator unboxing analysis while on the verge of death. A truly heroic deed that not many people can accomplish.
I only saw one color! Hilarious as always.
Amazing production value. I'm gonna give it 9.99999999/10
3:44 The Fine Brothers are coming for you Brady.
I'm always delighted by the wonderful amount of sarcasm in the unboxing videos, the should make more
I liked just for Matt, even before I saw the video.
I like your style.
You should make a Calculator unboxing channel. Would be a fun time all around.
matt's the casio of the calculator unboxing world. quality assured
I feel like we kind of have made one - you're watching it....
you got us there
These calculator videos are always spectacular, they give me life.
Freedom voltage!!? LMAO
This was the best calculator unboxing yet! I loved it.
Cut. Censor.
Thank god for that, my eyes weren't ready
+Broseff G 😂😂😂
So much violence
TRIGGERED
hahahahahaha so funny
This is one of my favorite series on all of RUclips
Nothing like a good calculator unboxing.
Please do more calculator unboxings. Matt Parker rocks!
I approve that bandage skill
Papercut fatality averted…
(Yes, I know it wasn't a papercut.)
I recently bought a Casio myself and narrated the opening like Matt. It was fun I suggest everyone do this (behind closed doors of course).
Tag this as NSFL immediately!
This is my first calculator unboxing. I can tell you I'll be watching all the others shortly. This is fantastic, well done.
But what about the second color? Don't say that it is black and the other one is white xD
Of all the things he thought to test, producing a negative number wasn't one of them. (Red)
I smell followup video. Plus no durability test either..
+
+Lasse Nicolajsen He mentioned that he wouldn't score it because this was an exhibition piece, but... It endured being shown its own errors, so that's a 10. For cred, it gets the upsidedown answer to life, the universe, and everything: 58008.

He really Parker squared up those battery placements
I just love the sarcasm in these videos. I wonder if they'll un-box a calculator I give them.
These are entirely serious videos.
Rishav Koirala
I actually have a TI30 from the 70's. Including the nerd belt loop carrier.
I used to have a calculator just like that many years ago, this brings back some memories
3:47 "REACT (trade mark)"
LMAO, shots at The Fine Bros?
This was actually my favorite unboxing video so far.
This calculator even pays your taxes for you. Amazing.
Please do more calculator unboxings, they are my favorite
@standupmaths I'm upset that you didn't mess with the Tax + and Tax - buttons! Do you represent the establishment?
he totally did - there was editing for time reasons! :)
I guess we'll have to see it in the director's "cut".
I was waiting for those as well!
I hope for an extended cut also!
also serves as a cash register - used one of those for many years at a little cycle shop.
You have to be careful when mixing multiplication and addition. I was trained to completely clear out before switching between the two. I think it's technically an adding machine, which is slightly different than a calculator.

That first example of the calculator's printing ability was... perfect. :P
What, no sqrt(2) * sqrt(2) test? I know the injury you sustained in the line of duty was very traumatic but you must press on (buttons) and bravely print what no calculator has printed before!
I must have passed-out from blood loss and missed that one.
Actually this calculator doesn't seem to have a square root button.
That must be the root of his problem
This is genuinely really funny.
Why is hé using scissors to cut it of? It had rough edges to cut it without them
It's called comedy. He deliberately does things the long way to make viewers laugh.
4 teh lulz bruh
so you would use the rough edges?! that's cruel mate! poor paper, the scissor alternative is much more humane.
Are you kidding? You saw what just the battery hatch did to his finger. That serrated paper cutter could decapitate an amateur if used carelessly.
I love how you censored the paper cutting. ;d
People get "triggered" by anything these days. Soon someone will get triggered by a calculator being unboxed (high school trauma or something) and he will have to censor the entire video.
Yay! New unboxing!
I thought calculators unboxings would be retired after the"millionaire" video. hard to get better than that.
wait to see what else we have coming!!!
+Numberphile oooooooo foreshadowing
you got me so excited now
What's the millionaire video?
+
Those calculator unboxing are always a sunshine in my day :D
Freedom voltage. Where do you get it all from ?? 😃
You don't need to stop and wait for it to print between each calculation. You can continue punching in your numbers, and the printer will catch up.

black is kind of the parker-colour of the 2 colour printer
The added blur effects are hilarious. Prior to calculators, there were adding machines. While I barely remember the situation, as a kid I got my fingers stuck in my uncle's electric adding machine. There were bits that went up and down to print the numbers on the paper and I got tangled in that while trying to get a closer look at what was happening.
Wait... Under what conditions is the second color used? We only saw one.
When writing negative numbers
Ah, I'm guessing the second color is red then. Thanks.
Red is used when you cut your finger.
@@oqibidipo Ah, that's what the sharp edge is for after all. Thanks.
I never expected that a calculater unboxing can be so fun to watch! :D
Where is the second printing colour?
Funnily enough apart from being the most hilarious thing on youtube, these calculator unboxing videos actually give me ASMR.
but matt! we all know that 0.(9) = 1 so it got the 1/9 equation right
Only if you write infinitely many nines, though.
Please bring these back!! So funny!
Freedom voltage!
You caught me totally off guard with that 58,000 + 8, I am laughing so much right now :D
*Human > AI*. So, I like to smash these digital calculator things with a sledgehammer. My mind is better than them.
that's why you shouldn't use those gimmicky calculators and should use a REAL calculator.
The No True Calculator is a logical phallusy.
Is it strange that I enjoy these videos unironically?
Hahaha Freedom voltage :D
At the end of each of these videos I wonder why I watch them. Then I remember : Matt made unboxing fun.
If you had an adaptor adaptor that didn't quite work properly, would it be called an adapter Parker squared?
Mr Parker, you didn't need to cut the paper, it has serrations above the feed so you can tear the paper. I think that bit of advanced engineering deserves some plus points.
Lol freedom voltage
The blurring is gold. Nice job Brady!
typo at 5:06. difficult is spelt wrong
"mistakes are difficlut to fix"
I didn't notice this "mistake" when I watched the video, but knowing Matt's humor, it was completely intentional.
+Numberphile that's just the Parker spelling
thatsthejoke.gif
Looks like mans34 made a real Parker Square of himself!
These are basically my favorite numberphile videos
[2^(1/2)]^2 test?
as i remember ,
=2^((1/2)*2) = 2^(2/2) = 2 ? , maybe
+noredine Yeah but does it work on the calculator?
There's no square roots or power buttons on the calculator.
sure there is marimbaguy715 , just chose Scientific mode , and there you'll find every button
Abandoned due to life-threatening injuries
the 58008 trick always a fan favorite
How would people be offended by this ??
that's the joke
Time for the durability test!!!
he cut the paper with scissors. how can you not be offended :(
It's the internet!
Everybody is offended by something these days.
Because 58,008
This might be my favorite series of videos
The cutting with the scissors, you're killing me!
is it normal to get ridiculously excited about new calculator unboxing videos? because i get incredibly excited about every new calculator unboxing video :'^)
Love the humour both of Matt and your editing!
These are literally the best videos on the internet
"Freedom Power" Can't say I have heard it called that. Love the gore warning and blur!
Hurray! My favourite type of numberphile video!
