    .
Yesterday I had a new patient come see me because his “disc was out again.”
    This happens all the time.
I asked him when he had a disc injury, and he told me it was from high school football. He was 32 years old.
He hadn’t had an MRI or major injury since high school.
So, why did he think it was his disc?
Well, a lot of my patients think that disc herniations and bulges last forever. They think these are fairly severe injuries. It's understandable when you have severe low back pain or neck pain.
This is the point where I spend 30 minutes reassuring and educating him on the TRUTH about disc herniations.

I suffered from what I believe to be some sort of disc issue last year. It started in the beginning of the year and went away at last by the end of it.
There were weeks that would pass where I could barely move and other weeks I’d be back to normal.
I got an MRI and thankfully everything was normal but the pain was there and it was exactly the way you described it.
I’m a gym rat so naturally, I was terrified of the potential injury and how long it would last. I had to change my training, and while I didn’t shy away from bending, twisting, and what not, I was very careful. I also worked on strengthening my core and my spine mobility through different ranges of motions.
Now, a year later, I can thankfully say I’m way better. I’m deadlifting and squatting more than 1.5x my body weight without any pain.
There are days that pass where I feel tightness in my lower back (and it’s always on the left side) but I make sure to rest it and not overwork it.
Anyways that video was super helpful because it made me understand disc injuries so much better. Appreciate your content and the work you put into it

Herniated a 2nd time, much more painful this time. Went to the doctors this time. The put me on pain meds. Got even more painful. They were about to recommend surgery and I almost fell for it. Luckily I stay the course and bear through the pain. I stopped doing any heavy activity. It's gotten much better. Still tender and not ready for any heavy activity, but much better. Surgery should be the absolute last option. Glad I dodged a bullet.

Do you have or could you please make video how to fix kyphosis+lordosis (also scoliosis)??
Which excercises are helping and which are contraproductive? What to avoid?
Does active stretching/movement have a sense right before a postural strenght training ? Can primal movements help to unlock stiff muscles, tendons, fascias, joints etc. and make them strong? How does look effective workout unit for postural training with incorporating movement/twisting/stretching/strenghtening to not be boring?
Goal is to achieve right bodyposture and fix the spine first. Than after fixed spine and improved mobility start with resistance training/powerlifting with proper technique.

Hi! Thanks for the video! I’d like some advice: I have a disc herniation at L5-S1 compressing the traversing left S1 nerve root and mild to moderate central canal stenosis.
I am also an aerial acrobat. However I don’t have any leg pain or numbness or tingling. I only feel pain in my left glute mostly where my piriformis is. Stretching the left hamstring whilst forward bending is what generates the pain (positive straight leg test and slump test) is this pain due to the disc herniation? and will continuing to do aerial acrobatics make the herniation worse?

    • @h0b0768
      @h0b0768 4 месяца назад

Its almost definitely the disc not your piriformis. Luckily you have caught it before it gets worse. Stop doing acrobatics for now. You likely have a movement pattern that is stressing your discs and you need to correct it. Start by strengthening your core (look up elitefts mcgill big 3 on here). If you can manage to keep it from getting worse and even improving at this point you can save yourself an unbelievable amount of trouble down the road.

Can't sit for long because the sciatica down my calf bothers me. My vertebraes on the level above and below show modic changes type 2. So yeah, I wish it was all as if it never happened. The frustrating thing its that Im advised to go to PT again, they are comparing me to others who are worse but not realizing i'm already as active as I can be. Probably because we have to have more transparency on this topic. Look if you have a extrusion disc that rupture out of the walls there is no way around it and you need surgery. If you are telling people to wait and that it will heal it could be serious like it can affect bowels movement and then it will be a emergency surgery. By you telling this all is doing delaying surgery at one point

I dont care if it can heal, i care if i can return to running/tennis or normal activities 🥹

That's MUCH more important! Short answer: with the right plan, and a 4 pillars evidence-based approach, I've gotten my clients back into running and tennis (and much more difficult things like crossfit) time and time again.
