My favorite DIY toys when I was a boy. I build so many of them. My father was glazier so I had access to small pieces of mirrors and the tools :-) They are very easy to build. Thanks to bringing back some old memories (50 years ago).
Tim is such a wonderful old man, he reminds me of a good friend of mine who is probably around the same age as Tim. They've both been to so many places and have seen so many things, and neither of them care about negatively affecting people's lives, they just want to share the joys and wonders of all the things and places they've see. I dread the day either of them pass, but atleast when they do they'll have left their wonderful, brightly colored mark on the world. Tim and my friend have no idea how much joy and happiness they bring to those who know them. Plus, kaleidoscopes have been and still are my favorite childhood toy, they're so complex and so simple at the same time. Thank you, Tim, for bringing back some of the simplest times of my life. I couldn't thank you enough for digging up some of the memories my brain has buried.
It's so funny how you can pull me back to my youth. I had a few of these growing up and I was absolutely fascinated by them. Thanks for sharing them and reminding me of good times.
A lovely little bit of high tech-kaleidoscopic fun I enjoy with my VR headset is opening up the window that shows what my VR headset is showing, so it just shows an infinite set of VR windows ever smaller and smaller in front of me, and by tilting my head or moving closer or farther, I get the most incredibly mesmerizing fractal imagery.
I am always amazed by the effect to be had from the simple kaleidoscope with the plastic bits in and trio of long mirrors inside.. Trouble with these of course is that the mirrors get a bit dirty with time, which dulls the effect.. These designs are interesting as they get round that in the main. Fascinating as ever! 👍
_Oh sure, Tim can have all these toys and doodads and it's fine and dandy, but when I get toys I'm "Immature"_ Just joking, I love all your videos and wholesome attitude, keep doing what you do, Tim 🙂
tim! you should go to Nellie Bly Kaleidoscopes! it's in St. Jerome Arizona - incredible store full of unique kaleidoscopes from many different artists.
I just checked my copy of " The Boy's Own Book of Indoor Games and Recreations". The Victorians were using magic lanterns to project kaleidoscope images in a couple of ways using both front and back projection. A.A. Wood writes in his article (The Magic-Lantern and all about it) how "Modifications of this experiment will suggest themselves to an ingenious lad". Apropos the magic lantern- instructions for making the limelight mechanism are provided and elsewhere in the book are full instructions for two ways of making your own hydrogen.
My dad build a few of these when I was a kid. He use them with the photocamera. The first one is particularly beautiful. I want to build one too...just for fun. I will look for a good tutorial
Hey Tim, Could you please upload here some hd resolution pictures of that kaleidescope at 6:47??? It will make an amazing wallpaper. Thanks in advance 😁
It may be April Fool's Day, but the only fool around here is he who fails to appreciate the wonderful experiences Tim shares with us! Happy April to you, everyone.
In fact, the light shows on some events are made with Kaleidoscopes projektors. They are simple to build and work great. Before big beamers on small shows often used such projectors for background lightning.
Tim has such an elegant way of sharing his collections with us, I hope he understands just how much joy he's giving us. Truly unique and special.
ikr?
He does give joy especially when I’m high or drunk, his slurs are such a trip

4:20 deep kaleidoscope. Very clever. I would like to see deep convolutional kaleidoscope and deep reinforcement kaleidoscope in the future.🤣
I haven't seen my grandfather but you are my secon grandfather
Tim take a look at ColorfulScopes “binocular teleidoscopes”. Teleidoscopes are interesting enough but one for both eyes is pretty spectacular
