Flatland flying is so mysterious at times :D I dont think it was you finaly syncing up with the clouds as much as it was the conditions getting stronger. Look at those beautiful little cumulus clouds. 🥰 I love the final part. All the things you wished for but not right now.
It was strange - quite a few other pilots found it really difficult to start with, yet others cruised on by... who knows? But yes, it could have just go better, and the pilots who had an easier time to start with just had a bit more luck on their side perhaps? Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic flight Tim. I did exactly what you recommended. Beer, 4k Tv and watched you fly across the lovely Uk countryside. Managed a little 43km flight a couple of weeks ago but weather here in Ireland has been crap too. Love the videos, you do a great job of narating and editing. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Gerry👍
Thanks for the comments Gerry, glad you enjoyed it! Funny that you're the second person from Ireland (Derek from NI) commenting on the bad weather... don't think it's been much better here either...
Hey Tim, really appreciate another great video, first 100 looked ropey. Loved the comment after the early collapse about wanting to get something to eat, no way am I letting go of those toggles. It's great to see how hard you had to fly to get the 200km, Us mere mortal pilots always think you guys just take off, point it and 6 hrs later 200km plus.
Fantastic flight Tim and great commentary. You certainly had to work hard for the that one especially early on. How frustrating when you get more lift at the end of the flight when you don’t need it! Keep them coming. 👍
Thanks Edwin, glad you enjoyed it! And I can’t remember whether I mentioned it in the vid, but not only did he give me a ride to the station but they were collecting a couple of pizzas en route and he let me have a couple of slices 👏🏻👏🏻
Great Flight Tim. Frank in Kilkenny Ireland. Orville and Wilbur would have loved a flight like that. Imagine if they had the opportunity to fly a Paraglider. Its been raining all summer in the south of Ireland. Send some good xc weather this way. Thanks F.
Hi Frank, thanks for your comments... yeah, that's quite a thought isn't it (O&W) - what would they think of what we can do these days hanging under a bit of cloth and string... it really is amazing! You're now the third Irishman who's bemoaned the weather in Ireland (NI & ROI) this summer...! It must be bad... mind you it's not been much better over here - we get a good day then three weeks later another good day, although when I say good it's either v light wind, so not much good for less experienced pilots, or top end, so again not much good for less experienced pilots... frustrating for them... Maybe we'll have an Indian summer in Sept/Oct 🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@TimPentreath Learnt lots from your vids....A bit of a suggestion: Any chance of a map screenshot showing your launch and and declared goal before the flight footage?I don't know if there's others watching from outside the UK but it would be nice to know the general geographic location and challenge so to speak.I was on a boating weekend on the canal nearby that site a few years back... Adam Hill pointed it out to me... couldn't believe it was a viable flying site being so low and shallow...seems to work well 👍
Yeah, good point... must admit I normally link to the tracklog in the vid description but forgot to this time (now added), but here it is anyway www.xcontest.org/world/en/flights/detail:timpent/7.7.2023/10:19 It's a very thermic site so works really well... There's another site a bit like that - Liddington, near Swindon. You drive past it on the M4 motorway and you barely even notice the hill, but again, it works well...
Thanks Fabio, the button on my left hand is a push to talk for my radio. Then on the right riser is a button for Zello, but I must admit I rarely use it
That would be too easy 😂 Dunno really, the climbs were broken and it was very difficult to get all the way to base - well at least for the first couple of hours…
Congrats on staying focused and patient, too hilarious all the lift while setting up for and after the NOTAM.
Chees Dan, yeah, definitely a flight of two halves!
Good determination , I just love your self talk🤣Great flight AGAIN
Thanks Russell, glad you enjoyed it!!
I love these XC videos Tim! So fun to ride along! Such an accomplishment of endurance and perseverance, bravo!
Thanks Sandra, so glad you enjoy them!
Great video.. Commentary very useful for low time thermallers. You earnt every second of that flight. well done.
Much appreciated, glad you find it helpful... Cheers!
Excellent flight & really useful, lots to learn from. Thanks for sharing Tim.
Thanks Robin, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻👍🏻
Bloody brilliant!
Cheers Tony, glad you enjoyed it!
As always, you nailed it.
Thanks Dil, appreciate it... Hope you've had some good flights on the few and far between good days!

Cheers Mark, glad you enjoyed it! Yep, nothing’s ever completely plain sailing - I guess it’d be boring if it was!

Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed it... Yes, damn that Manchester airspace, I think another 50kms was easily possible, if not more, given the conditions!
Freaking awesome again man🤗 How nice of that man to offer you a ride like that.

@@TimPentreath You lucky man🤗 Haha.
I enjoy every nice video you put on youtube😉
Muchas gracias Tim por el video ,un gran vuelo y dificil ,un abrazo
Muchas gracias, me alegro de que te haya gustado verlo!
Amazing flight Tim, I love it when you say it's rediculous, like you've just had a really disappointing meal in a restaurant!
Haha thanks Ian, yeah it really did feel like that, it had everything! Brilliant fun!

Good to have you back on the big screen Tim love the vid
Thanks as always Tony!
Another great video Tim. Well done on a hard fought 200km. Peanut butter and Marmite, a man after my own heart!
Glad you enjoyed it Jeff! And I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who likes that combo 😂
great flight...
Thanks, glad you enjoyed coming along for the ride!

Congrats with your amazing flight Tim! What an adventure!!🤩👍😘 greetings from the Netherlands!
Thanks Johan, glad you enjoyed watching it, I appreciate your kind words!
very cool!
Thanks!
brilliant flight, and you worked hard for that at the beginning. Epic. Northern Ireland just hasnt had the weather this year for decent xc
Cheers Derek, glad you enjoyed it... Good days over this side of the pond so to speak have been few and far between this year too...
Enjoyed watching that. I still need to break 50!
Thanks, keep at it, I’m sure it’ll come soon!!
Great flight
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
That was a persistent survival!
Thanks! It certainly was for the first 80kms!
Breathtaking. Bravo ! Was wandering what are the button that are on your fingers and what do you use them for...

@@TimPentreath that's really handy thank you for the idea.
@@FabioGattini If you google “Zoot headset” it’ll come up with what I’ve got. It’s very well made and has lasted at least five years so far 👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing flight Tim!! First part nasty and tricky. Congrats for another 200 k. How many km/h of wind did you have during flight?
Thanks Marco, appreciate your comments…! 30kph at one point but most of the time maybe 25kph max, so not too strong
If would fly on the flats I would be able to fly at most 20 K. How is it possible 200 K ???? 😮😮😮. I should come to UK to study how you do... 😊
Cheers Maurizio, it’s simple, just stay up for 6 hours 😂
Why you dont Climb to the clouds??
That would be too easy 😂 Dunno really, the climbs were broken and it was very difficult to get all the way to base - well at least for the first couple of hours…
Great video as usual Tim....BUT shame about all the new housing estates raping the countryside were you landed at the end.
Cheers Billy, glad you enjoyed it… BUT people have to live somewhere you know… 😉
