    Came to youtube for video showing me how to replace the weatherstripping for the trunk on my car. This was the first video on the list and this is the exact car I have! It was no brainer who I would order the new weatherstripping from. Thank you

    Thank you for the clear explanation. At 1:47 you mention using adhesive mold release. A link on the screen to the product at that point would be invaluable! Thank you again for a clear video.

      Actually, Matt (guy in the video) misspoke. Instead of mold release he was referring to 3M Adhesive Remover. Here's a link to it from our website: www.steelerubber.com/general-purpose-adhesive-cleaner-96-8987-96 I apologize for the mix up. Thanks for watching!

    Using a heat-gun helps remove both the old weather-stripping and the old adhesive.

    Great video...thanks. I replaced the weatherstrip on my 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 exactly per your instructions. Everything went fine and it looks just like your demo car. However, now I cannot close the trunk! Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks again.

    Nice car, mine got stolen and took down toward New Orleans back in 98. Why not use hot glue as it is a lot cheaper to install and quick. About a dollar vs. 10 dollar 3M black.

    The trouble I'm having is that the molding I'm working on removing has a double sided tape on it, when the molding comes off lines of the smooth surfaced tape still remain in long sections. Seems like no wheel, erasure or solvent can penetrate the leftover tape and get to the glue underneath. Other than a wire wheel, I have run out of ideas. Anyone?

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  2 года назад

      Hey Richard, we typically recommend using 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner as well as a tuck tool to remove leftover adhesive/pieces of rubber. If it is really stuck on, we recommend to apply that adhesive remover heavily and let it sit for at least 30 seconds and then use a razor blade to scrape it. If the space is narrow you could use a narrow razor scraper. I'm attaching two links for the adhesive remover and the tuck tool. Let us know if there is anything else we could help you with, good luck!
