Hi, i bought a RPM from America, it was the short draw model, i had the same issues with the let off but after speaking to Josh we came up with a solution that fixed the problem. I took the modules completely out of the cams, this solved the problem and sorted the draw length with the stops under the limbs. Josh the CEO of RPM assured me that there is no probs with not using the modules and i have been shooting it now for about 6 months with no problems

I totally agree with you about the color scheme and edges along the riser. The hard edges in particular really cheapen the look of this bow. Also, Junxing actually makes this bow.

As a complete ignorant to this style of bow the one thing that seems to shine through in these videos is how much people love them! Almost everything has been re thought and redesigned I love the fact that it comes with a whole pack of modules and other companies make u buy them for not small prices 🤣 . These cam/lever bows seem to be a bit of a style cult like a classic car!

I have the Oneida Aroforce X80 from 1995 . Great bow , I still use is occasionally for 3D

16:00 they both hit, they both cant not both hit. 37:32
It looks like the bow is pulling back more on the button arm than the top arm, that is what is giving you the kick, the lower arm is moving faster than the upper one.

Another tip for your draw length changing with this bow, or any bow. I also shoot back tension, and I anchor the knuckles of my release hand to the back of my jaw bone. Bone on bone anchor. Nothing to move or vary from shot to shot. I noticed a few videos ago, that you did not seem to have a release hand anchor. You let the now decide that for you, which is wrong. Anchor that hand the same place for every shot on all compounds.

    Hi Steven!
I have two question. I am shooting in "Bowhunter Compound" category (fingershooting, without sight) with a regular cam coumpound bow (Mathews Q2XL) and I'm thinking of switching to a lever action bow.
First question: Is it worth it to switch to a a lever bow, if I can shoot with a cam bow? (In europe I haver realy limited opportunities to even try a lever bow)
Sevond question: Which lever bow is better: Oneida Osprey, RPM Nitro or RPM Nitro XX (if they are in the same price)?
    Thanks!

  • @TheEndlessquest4k

apparently the bow in the video is actually produced by the well knows Chinese Factory JUNXING, then eventually re-branded for marketing purpose... the original model name is "Junxing M181", can be found on Aliexpress but it's "not cheap", even there.
btw, Junxing is pronounced "choonseeng" (or "joonsheeng", something in between...)
but definitely NOT JUNK KSING! :-D

Is the riser for that center shot? I noticed on the Oneidas that the Kestrel and the Phoenix that replaced it are Center shot while the Oneida Osprey (they only seem to sell Osprey and Phoenix models now) is cut past center much like a recurve. Just wondering if it makes a difference to the rest you mount on it. I have an Oneida Osprey myself and it didn't seem right putting a whisker biscuit on it as the whole circle of bristles didn't clear the riser if the center of it was lined up to the middle of riser.

Incorrect about Oneida. While Claude Pollington did sell the company and transfer all the ownership rights to John Paul Morris - the son of Johnny Morris of Bass Pro Shops fame - Oneida remains to this day an entirely private and seperate entity from Bass Pro Shops and any related affiliates. Oneida Eagle Bows is a privately owned and operated "incorporated" company and remains unaffiliated with the Bass Pro brand in any way whatsoever... So I'm not sure why you believe what you do or why you would make the insinuation that they're somehow "unscrupulous" when compared to a company like RPM. Not only are the two companies structured the same way on paper, but I would be more wary of a company like RPM who outsources all of their manufacturing to China (not that I have a problem with Asian made products specifically, but more so the fact that they could keep the manufacturing here in the states and create more jobs and economic growth for their local community), but they also DIRECTLY copied a few Oneida designs without any sort of legal precedent to do so or offered any financial royalties to the current design rights/patent holders. For example, the RPM Nitro cam is a 1:1 copy of the Oneida "Medium" type K-Cam, the only key differences being a hex-slot for the axle rather than a "star" design and a weight reduction cutout in the end of the lobe. Otherwise, it's basically nothing more than a slightly altered clone. You can stack them on top of one another and they line up perfectly.
The point is you're using your personal experience with the two companies as entirely anecdotal evidence to judge their overall individual merit as a brand, as well as their honesty and respectability. Now don't get me wrong here, I'm certainly no hardcore Oneida "fanboy" and I actually have my own personal list of grievances with them, and a number of reasons why I'm not a huge fan. However I can promise you that none of these reasons are due to their being a "disreputable" company... Now I get it, you didn't necessarily outright say so much and you tried to kind of "cover your tracks" there at the end, but anyone with a brain cell in their skull could read from your body language, tone of voice, and word choice that you were WISHING you could openly bad mouth Oneida on a public platform like this without professional reprucussions. Viewers will take this as confirmation in their minds that Oneida is somehow a shit company or otherwise disreputable and a company to avoid. I would think that as a business owner yourself that you would know better than to do something like that. Very uncool man, seriously.
Also, what the hell do you mean you can't get an Oneida for less than $2,000 AUD in Australia??? I mean, a brand new Osprey retails at $799 USD, and you can find a used Black Eagle or Stealth for $550 to $600 all day long... Hell, even secondhand Kestrels fetch $600 to $700 on the open market these days, and you don't HAVE to get an Oneida sent to you assembled... Just have the bows sent to you taken down so the packages aren't over the size limit or whatever. Personally I find that information sketchy at best, since I've sent assembled bows overseas quite a few times now and while the shipping may be slightly more expensive, it's certainly not THAT much more expensive and I've never had issues with the packaging being "over the size limit" or anything like that. Sounds to me like Australian lever bow enthusiasts are just getting boned by their ridiculous taxes and import tariffs put in place by their laughably ineffectual and impotent government, but that's another topic entirely.
Doesn't make sense to me that a slightly larger item being shipped fetches more than $700 to $1000 over retail solely due to this reason and some arbitrary packaging limit. If they really do go for that much over there, you should just buy a few Black Eagles and Kestrels secondhand and have them shipped to you taken down (I have all my bows shipped to me taken down honestly. It's ultimately safer...). Then you can avoid the astronomical shipping costs and just assemble them yourself when they arrive. You could make a bloody fortune off each individual sale. Think about it...

The RPM was initially designed to compete with the oneida osprey. 99% of real bowfishers don't use a sight. Ski the sight being kicked out is irrelevant. Another pointer is, since the bow is a center shot bow, your grip is below the center giving it a kick out toward the bottom. To minimize this use the throat of your hand between your thumb and index finger. This will give you a much better review
