- In this video I share our Avocado mattress review. Learn all about the organic avocado green mattress and why we chose it for our family.
Some things I forgot to mention in the video that you might find helpful:
- My husband is a back/tummy sleeper and I am a side sleeper
- We have also tried the Purple Mattress and it really did not work for us at all
- How to set up the Avocado mattress: it comes in a large box and during checkout you have an option to add the delivery and installation service which we did. Basically they opened the box and it popped out, there was no set up really. It took 5 minutes or less. Like I said in the video there is no "off-gasing" period, since there are no chemicals to off-gas, so there was no smell.

@@TheDuvallHomestead we've have 2 separate guests in the past month use it. They both said they slept well on it. No complaints. I plan on trying it out next month when the bed is available! 😄
Really nice review, thanks! Do you or anyone know of any discount codes besides the ‘two free pillows’ that they’re currently offering in April of 2022? I don’t need pillows, but I sure could use a discount, considering their prices have increased substantially.

Thank you for your review! I am supposed to be receiving my mattress tomorrow and have already purchased the wool and latex topper. The topper was top notch so it pushed me to take the plunge and purchase the mattress, pillows, and once they are back in stock, the sheets as well. I see that you have the pillow that is adjustable. How do you like it and have you noticed any odor? The topper has a smell that to me smells like fresh wool or a little like a barn....some others commented that it was the latex. It is a strong enough to smell it on my clothes after sleeping but its not an offensive chemical smell and I have no negative reaction to it. However was wondering if in pillow form it may be an issue...Also, do you have the sheets and if so how do you like them?
Hi Karie, no the pillows have no smell to them. They are adjustable which is really cool you can add or take away the stuffing. It took us a week or so to get used to the pillows (I think we were sleeping on really bad pillows before lol) but now we love them and we think it really helped our alignment. Also yes we have tried coyuchi organic sheets and avocado, and I prefer the avocado ones personally. They’re super soft. I am writing up a blog post and video to talk about the bedding it should be put in a couple weeks if you can wait that long 😉
@@TheDuvallHomestead That's great about the pillows. I'm excited to get mine! And as with everything with my bedding I notice an adjustment period so I will stick through it if I have to! I received my mattress today and it really didn't smell as strong as the latex topper did. Tonight will be my first sleep on it so here's hoping its a good one! I'm so excited you are going to do your review on the sheets! I will stay tuned for sure 😊

I just purchased an Avocado mattress. I didn't know that I shouldn't use a box spring! Will I notice a big difference without it?
I didn’t notice a difference without a box spring! I dunno I think the mattress just does a great job by itself. But I’m sure on top of a no spring it would be fine too!

The mattress is great for back sleeping in my experience. I side sleep and back sleep.
I have the Avocado Green with the pillowtop but I wish I got it with the topper for adjustability. Everything else is great about the mattress.

Is your bed frame solid or slats or just a metal frame?
It’s wooden slats. If you go to 8 minutes 30 seconds you can see me showing the bed frame

Yes, and it is still our favorite of all time. We also just bought one for our kids
I’ve been researching for a bed for my toddler to transfer to from her crib. I am on the fence between the Avocado kids mattress and the MyGreen Mattress Kiwi. Have you looked into that one by any chance?
Oops sorry for the late reply! No I haven’t, I would just check all the materials used and make sure they’re organic if that’s what you’re going for. Sometimes it’s only one fiber or something that’s actually organic! I will say I love the avocado for us and will probably purchase it once our kids get older.
I am interested in buying this matress. Thank you for the review. Would this matress be safe for co sleaping? I am looking for a matress firm enogh for my baby but comfertable for me as a side sleaper.
We coslept for a year on this, and loved it. And still do sometimes ;) very comfortable for side sleeping.

@@sarahslobodnik1617 well I definitely recommend this one, and we’ve tried many! You do have to rotate it every few months but it’s great.
AVOID AVOCADO MATTRESS!!! This overpriced mattress was a nightmare. Took few months to receive it, then within a year, it started sinking, and we started getting body pain. The warranty process was long and complicated, we ended up just donating the mattress. What a waste of $3,000. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. It's very unfortunate because I had high hopes for this so called organic mattress company! Biggest wasteful purchase of our lives!
@@alwaysinsearch so sorry you had a bad experience. Were you rotating it every few months? We’ve had ours over a year and still love it.
If anyone is skeptical about off gassing just go into a mattress store. You'll think you're in a chemical factory. Our Avocado has been one of our best investments.

Yes! It’s been over a year now and yes I really like it for side sleeping. You do want to make sure you rotate it every 6 months or so.

@@reginaquadir8438 so it took about a month, but the company they used to ship it (XPO) they no longer work with. So I’m not sure who would be the shipping agent if you bought the mattress now or how long it would take.
I will also note that Avocado was incredibly helpful and gracious when we had shipping delays (it was not their fault). They were responsive to us every day until we got our mattress delivered.
We have the one with built in topper and it’s so firm! It’s the worst mattress we have ever slept on. Do not buy this if you like cozy comfort, this isn’t it.

Avoid Avacado! Their customer service is horrific. They refused to give us a return. It's like a rock!! Horrible.
Yikes!! Sorry you had that. They were great to us - they even sent us a second mattress when the shipping carrier messed up our delivery timing. The person who helped us was great.
