Love how real your videos are. Showing how things can and do go wrong, instead of just curated, sanitized and unrealistic videos from so many other travel vloggers. Looking forward to more new videos and adventures!
Nothing tastes better than just plain water when you're borderline dehydrated. When someone says that they don't like water I think that they have never been really really thirsty. I've been backpacking the southwest for over 40 years and more than once have been thirsty enough to drink filtered stagnant, stinky cow pond water. It tasted marvelous. Thanks for the trip.
I've been hiking, backpacking and adventuring for nearly 50 years and here's what I've learned. Remaining open to possibilities, learning from my mistakes and my successes, and savoring the journey, good or bad, those are the keys to living this lifestyle for a long time. The best stories I have from the trail typically entail Type II fun or an emergency room visit. Love your videos.
Awwww I'm sooo sorry about the trip. That was not a good time for sure. I'm SORRY !!!!!! Thank heavens you got Fado up the canyon ! You were amazing keeping focused and coming up with solutions to get him back ! Then you ran out of water :( I feel so sorry !!!!! You are such a beautiful person !!! We Love You !!!!!!
Lake Powell is the best, I grew up there when it was full and had some incredible times. Spend the money on a Zpacks Duplex, Zpacks quilt and Neoair xtherm and you'll enjoy backpacking a lot more (and be able to carry more water 😜)
I love your videos I must be honest and let you know that I'm worried as a mother I pray that you're safe and your pup....❤ Keep on living the dream and God bless
Total chance that I found your channel but I like your spirit and I'll be glad to add my subscription. I was in a situation like this with my dog and it was stressful, to say the least. As much as we think they're mountain goats, they just can't do as much as we can (especially when you consider that we use our thumbs to grab and climb, not to mention the grip and protection from our shoes). I'm glad all ended well!
Nice trip, altough its gone wrong👍 but expiriences makes you live longer and stronger 💪 so this was a win Situation, go on, i like your adventure mode 😊
Hello new subscriber here! 👋🏽 love your videos you got me hooked! Its my dream to one day travel the US in a camper....ive been to lake powell before camping and by the lake before the water levels became low. Was so much fun! I live in Vegas not too far and i love the desert. Wish i can join an awesome trip! Even though things didnt work out Glad to see you in spirits and ok! stay safe! 😄
Oh no Rachel, not a great couple of days! Don’t get down about it not working out as planned, you live and learn and you’ll be better for it next time. You clearly have so much inner strength to get past that horrible fall, the water situation and the hike back but you did it, and you really stepped up looking after Fado even among all that stress! Really enjoying all your videos, thanks for taking us along with you! Hope your knees heal quick!
The desert is unforgiving. Good idea to turn around. The lake has been in a drought for a while so it definitely is a lot lower. Super jealous you get to travel and live out of your truck.
Well done for getting back safely and putting the welfare of your dog foremost. Sorry you got hurt in the process but hey "war wounds" always add to any story. 🤗
Now that was an adventure. They don’t call it slickrock for no reason. If you try it again, scope out another route. Meanwhile, read Edward Abbey’s Monkey Wrench Gang to get a new perspective on Lake Powell. Remember you’re in an area that’s under a multi year drought
Definitely could benefit as a 2 person trip with a good full harness for the pup, and some climbing rope to bring 'em up and down. I'm glad y'all are both safe though!
I admire how you kept your smile and your positive attitude in a stressful situation. That will take you a long way. The last scene was spectacular! What a gorgeous place to go for a swim. Love your videos 😄
Oi moça, Rachel. Hope this message finds you well. I'm sorry that you and Fado have not completed the trip as you have planned. But, I was glad that you didn't give up, you were prudent, smart, and strategic, considering your and Fado's safety. I don't know you, but I'm proud of you. In times of adversities, not giving up, and learning from the experiences, regroup, and prepare for a second round another time is in my winning book. You did just that... stay safe, stay healthy, and stay happy. Everything else is manageable. Tchau! Pops
So you took a tumble, but you were smart about turning back when your water ran low, good lessons and the best lesson is when you play it smart to you can live to do it all again.
So I have crazy ADHD and tend to do things before thinking. I've now rescued a puppy from a less than ideal situation in a rough neighborhood backyard. I want to travel and take care of this pup ! But my living situation in an apartment does not allow dogs! How did you do it in the beginning? I really don't want to get rid of this pup but I'm also needing an adventure to find myself. I've hit a dead end in my current career path and just don't know what to do , I do know I want to travel and see the world. Just looking around for help from people that have been doing it.
Also I can’t believe fado the goat couldn’t go UP in a spot where you could 😂 I think he got in his head or something cause he’s climbed vertical walls 😆 getting down may have been tough but still 🐐
Your saving lives by doing this. It will make people think before they go explore just any trails. One of the biggest problems in society & social media is people pretending everything is perfect. They don’t show the bad side of relationships, having kids, getting a dog, buying a house, hopefully in the future people can start showing the real realities of life more. Be careful going alone places like this make sure family & friends know where you are & maybe have a gps with a couple of them. Maybe get your dog one to if you don’t already have one. Certain trails you should go with a group of friends. Or at least have a few camp near by while others go off in the area.
A 4-year-old map in that area is a worthless map. Also, you hear/read about people every day in the desert falling prey to heat stroke. I have seen it happen and you should plan for a LOT more water than you actually need before starting out on a hike. Also, what is your fallback plan? What is your back up plan if you break a leg or arm along the way? Does anyone know where you are? Do you have a tracker on you so someone can find you? Do you have a Garmin inReach so you can radio for help, and they can find you using it? I think you are foolish going out like that. Yes, life is best when you live it, but when you take unnecessary chances and put your pet at risk too, then you are just being foolish and careless with your life. You need to be better prepared for these kinds of trips. I went for a climb in the deserts of Nevada and had issues but was prepared with too much water for the trip so when I took an extra day to get back, it was not an issue. The SAME day I was out there, someone else had issues too. I did not see her out there but, she did not survive. The authorities said it appeared she ran out of water. So yes, do the hikes and live your life, but do not take unnecessary chances. Be prepared for the worst hike in your life and enjoy it worry free if it is the best one.
I did bring more water than I needed, and when the first water resource was empty I turned around instead of hoping the next one wasn’t. I carry a satellite communicator. I get your sentiment, but I wasn’t being irresponsible here. 🫶
@@Sunnrayy I am glad you took precautions and thought to take the comms unit. I am sorry I was critical in my comments. I have seen others in these types of videos that were not so careful. With them, I simply unsubscribed, not wanting to support someone that would show risking life as a means to sell a video. So I am sorry I was so critical and thank you for responding and being responsible in the care for you and for Fido. I hope for you, some better times in your hikes. :)
You put Fado at risk WAY too often! Please quit letting him run loose near sheer cliffs and drop-offs! One of these days it's going to result in a catastrophic accident!

@@Sunnrayy It’s a very fun read and you’ll learn a lot about the area.

I tgink u should practice catching Fado. He stays in control, builds trust and it will be less risky for u.
that is a great idea!

You have to be careful out in these areas by yourself...putting yourself in bad situations. Thankfully it was not worse!
Damn you coulda died out there. Glad you made it out.
im intrigued to know if anyone knew where you were? should anything have gone seriously wrong...

First time watching your channel and let me say , girl you have huge balls ! . Please be safe er .

Wisdom is more needed at times...
Seeing you struggle lifting that little dog is maybe something you should be training for little moments like this. Eat more and get your strength up!
my dog is more than half my weight...
You need to start lifting weights and get a Fado backpack to carry his ass! Lop
