  • So your looking to start your kart racing career, but have no idea what category you should jump into.
    I've tried to give an explanation of the kart classes from Cadet (7-12) Juniors (11-16) and Seniors (16 & above) so that when you're searching for a package you can be guided into the right one.
    A lot of newcomers to the sport of kart racing don't realise the speeds they're able to achieve and how much the differ from hire karts they may have got a taste of to begin with.
    If you have any questions about the type of kart class you might fall into, feel free to leave a comment and I'll help guide you where I can.
    Also, we have a FREE Facebook karting community that we encourage drivers and newcomers to join so that you're able to be guided by experienced people in the sport.

    Hey mate do you use the same chassis in the junior class for all different types of junior categories e.g junior heavy, junior light. And also what chassis do you use for the junior categories?

    Hi mate. I used to race karts early 2000s, clubman heavy, thinking about getting back into it again . What would be the equivalent kart these days ? And maybe even going up a notch ? I’m now 55 yrs. Just want to be pointed in the right direction I guess. Thanks 👍🏻

      Go a KA100 IAME.
      User friendly not too hard on the body

    Great Video. The KA needs to promote this type of information more on their website. Been away from racing for some time and thinking of getting back into 125cc raced everything in-between and above. I've raced Rotax with that painful Dellorto before the X30s were around. My question is what's the best package these days. ie. Rotax or X30 (unrestricted ) for pure outright pace as I understand they run together these days? and is there a weight difference for them (I'd be running light and hate a heavy/leaded kart)? Thanks in advance, I remember racing you in Clubby Light a few times back in the day. You beat me, of course. Cheers

      Hey mate,
      So X30 has a weight advantage currently so is best suited to TAG / Restricted competition. Also straight out of the box the package is very strong!

    Hey, I’ve been doing a lot of indoor tracks for a while now and started doing outdoor ones but still a bit confused on what kart I should get I am 15 now but still wouldn’t mind waiting until I’m 16, right now I stand at 5 feet 10 inches so should be able to fit in most karts.
    Also one more question what karting championships should I look for in England, it’s taken me a while to find places to race at out doors, if you have any ideas where to look for them that would be lovely help.

    • @KartClass
      @KartClass  Год назад

      You’ll fit into a senior chassis. So then deciding if Rotax or X30 is what you want.

    As a 17 year old wanting to get started in category racing, is it better to get the 125cc for the TAG restricted or go for the 100cc (the one at the end) for that category ? thanks

    • @KartClass
      @KartClass  2 года назад

      Stick with 125cc as it gives you more room to grow into the unrestricted categories down the track.
      100cc class is good, but down the track you want to go faster so it’s best to start with 125cc and you have all the equipment then

    As a 22 year old, who’s always been interested in motorsport, looking down the KA3 or 4ss class, unsure of a starting point in terms of budget or what to look for when looking at used karts

    • @KartClass
      @KartClass  3 года назад

      Hey James,
      There’s plenty of good second hand packages available for KA3 as this class has been around longer and the junior kids also race this class to so it’s likely they have engines & karts that are suitable too. When looking at 4SS, not all clubs have them at their races just yet as it’s building momentum. So need to take that into account. I would guess $4,000 should get you something competitive for Ka3.

      @@KartClass Given an X30 costs $4k new, how exactly is $4000-$5000 going to cut it. Are they giving chassis and tyres away for free? Where do I sign up?
      Don't forget tools, spares, trailer etc etc. It's more than just the kart or you'll be packing up halfway through your first training laps as something is bound to go wrong.
      Still, it's amazing fun, well worth doing it, but I don't think you can get into it for anywhere near $4000
