drayshort cut 3sec +plus run energy, u guys always forget run energy
Why is the ad link c engineer's sponsor link..?
@@landlordwizard True, but with how common Staminas and pool's are in a POH, I really don't think run energy is as relevant as it used to be.
@@SoupRS true but low level ironmans ;) love u soup - mrtradelimit
raycons are garbage lmao
I've heard a myth that you get more nests from trees by using a lower tier axe with a less likely cut chance. I believe this stems from some ambiguous wording on the Bird's Nest wiki page, but would love to have this disproven.
For me, the biggest gain of the draynor wall shortcut is the run energy saved, which only really plays out on longer journeys than the examples here. For future shortcut testing it would be interesting to see what your run energy is at the end of the two methods as well :)
on top of that, the cabbage patch tile is an extra click some people would not want to bother doing
@@Edzter Aside from there being a teleport closer to the patch than the shortcut would service anyways
I came here to say this, but I knew in my heart it had already been said
@@HunterVook suffice*
Members out here thinking run is the default speed of runesvape. I'll stick to my f2p IM walking and grinding, you can keep your zoomer skilling minigames, powercrept rates, and daily/hourly farming obligations.
My myth - the goblins are sitting on a massive horde of unknown metal to Glienor: Zinc.
Bronze is an alloy made from Copper and Tin.
Brass is made from Copper and Zinc.
Goblins are the only creature in the game to drop anything made of brass - a brass necklace.
How could they have made the necklace without Zinc? Clearly, they have a depot of the stuff that us humans are completely unaware of
I think the pet rock is actually a baby rock crab which checks out because you get it in fremnic which is where rock crabs are located.
It’s a rock.
That would actually be pretty dope
@@alexpowell1184 nice spongebob reference
Coincidence? I think not!
Rock Lobster!
I genuinely though the pet rock moving thing was common knowledge. I’ve always kept 25 multicolored pet rocks in my RS3 POH because o love how they move everytime I go in and out.
its time to do a tier list of all agility shortcuts in the game brother
think if we're talking time the hydra one DOES lose time. (With the benefit of taking 0 damage tho)
@@ProfCube That one in the kourend catacombs near the metal dragons where you have to manually click on every rock is a close contender, legit takes like 15+ seconds to cross
The cosmic altar shortcuts are abysmal
All wilderness shorcuts save a lot of time
You shouldn't give away S tier ideas like that for free my man
Another fun fact about the pet rock. If you out it in your POH in the menagerie, and delete the room, the pet rock will stay on the ground forever. Even after Building another room where the menagerie used to be, or when moving rooms around. It also never despawns. Truly amazing!
Does it stay on the ground in one spot or does it move around like in the video after deleting the menagerie?
@@heymrhimr it stays in the same place, and doesn't move
@@heymrhimr Fun fact. you don't even need a menagerie for it. You can genuinely just :place the pet rock down: not in the menagerie, and it stays on the ground in your poh. If you have ground items enabled on runelite. The pet rock you "place" on the ground, instead of in the menagerie, is treated as an item and not a pet.
I'm not subbed to Soup, I could be swayed, but I'm damn on the fence. Is he worth it!?!? I stay up all night in a cold sweat trying to decide. I go back and forth every 20 minutes.
Back in the day of rs2, me and my friend always believed that getting an uncut sapphire drop "reset" the potential drops in the drop table and oddly enough, we would get unique drops during the next kill or very close after receiving the uncut sapphires. This happened very commonly during our DKS trips. It felt very coincidental but we always believed it after a while.
There is a hidden benefit With the Draynor shortcut in such cases. Not only is it 3 seconds faster in your tests, It consumes less run energy. about 6-7 energy i think based on what you showed
The hydra shortcut is slower than just running. Just protects you from now getting attacked
its the same speed. which is intentional, it wasnt meant to be a "short"cut, it was meant to be a "i cba to click through these annoying aggressive monsters"cut
@@MGX93dot If you die and have to get back to reclaim your items, you'd better be able to use that short cut, or at least be careful running past those minions. I almost died and lost my items like that one time.
"I'd like to submit this myth secretly"
"EXJMOD WOLF IS SUBMITTING A MYTH SECRETLY"
💀💀💀
Yeah, that also felt weird to me. Didn't seem like the rock moving in POH was what wolf meant
Haha, I meant I didn't want to post it in response to his public tweet - secretly as in via DM. I can see how it can be interpreted differently!
@@Wolfiiee I did actually assume that, but phrasing it this way gave me a giggle ;) glad you’re still involved in the community of osrs :)
Myth: Mage Training Arena actually trains my patience, not my mage
In regards to the fence shortcut, if your destination tile was one more tile north (or north-east even) there would have been no difference in the ticks taken. Character runs at 2t/s and walks as 1t/s. Using the shortcut you were running as you hit the tile, but when going through the gate, you were walking. Essentially, the shortcut is only a ‘shortcut’ if your destination tile is an even amount of tiles away from the fence hop.
This, however, also doesn’t take into account whether your character is walking or running (aka starting an odd vs even amount of tiles away) to the last tile before doing the shortcut.
The shortcut to Alchemical Hydra has an insanely long black screen with text. Worth testing if it's only to negate damage from regular hydras.
I tested it myself and it is way longer but at least you dont take damage from the hydras. I guess this is the reason
@@olivieri2300 A stretch classifying it as a shortcut then 😂 But yeah, assumed so.
it was never supposed to get you there faster
You save some energy run (useful if you are killing it with melee) and some prayer points
@@Zehiret That's true. All my kills have been with tbow, so didn't even consider it
Another exception to the 1/8 trees is Sullisceps on fossil island which I believe are 1/16
Myth: It's possible to run all the way from Lumbridge basement to Dorgesh-kaan and enter without a lightsource.
I've always heard, even back in 2005 staking days, that unpoisoned dragon daggers are more accurate than a dds for specs. I'd love to see if that was actually true or not.
i SWEAR by this! I was always laughed at the Duel Arena. That is... until they died.
Always heard this one too! Had lots of mates that used to PK with them for this exact reason.
The chunk loading one can be longer if your client doesn't have certain assets cached. Either on new install or new content, the "Loading, please wait" can be a few ticks longer when teleporting etc.
Soup has kept his competition voice eternally
You should compile the results of these into a spreadsheet or wiki article! I was looking for that one video where you test Tirranwn theories (how to successfully pass traps) and couldn't find it the other days
For the tick counting shortcut myths you should have enabled "current tile" on the tile indicator plugin.
With that enabled, you only need to count how many times the current tile changes to determine the number of ticks it takes.
This is more precise than what you did for a couple reasons. The current tile is always a bit ahead of where your character appears in the animation, so just trying to eyeball where the character is like you did will always be off, and how far it's off can vary with latency. Also, when running your current tile advances along the shortest path two tiles at a time, so if the path is an odd number of tiles, then you will always end up walking the final tile. To compare two paths fairly, you would want to ensure that both paths have an even number of tiles, or at least acknowledge that one path gets you one tile further in a given number of ticks.
Changing your methodology to one based on game cycles is definitely an improvement, but you can still do better.
at 12:30 the way it works I'm pretty sure is the chunks are loaded in if there is a player there to trigger the chunk to be loaded in with the lag lines in game this would be a perfect test for mythbusters.
This is one I've never been definitively able to figure out. When you cast NPC Contact, your character will face the direction of that NPC when progressing through dialogue but ONLY if they're on the same level as you (Ex: RuneScape Surface, Catacombs, etc.)
timing different methods of getting places is pretty interesting, like whats the fastest way to get to Taverly dungeon? Also, the skeletal wyvern cave got a new shortcut added, but you're in a black screen for so long that it doesn't feel like an actual shortcut so that would be fun to test.
Myth: When running, using 1% run energy at 1% total run energy takes you more tiles than using 1% run energy at any other run energy %
The stile shortcut at the Falador cabbage patch actually teaches a valuable lesson about space and time, cause even though just running through the gate is much faster than the stile animation, The Stile is still the fastest way because you get to walk diagonally over the field.
Worst shortcut: pipe to get the alchemical hydra. It’s like a minute long dialogue you sit through almost certain that running around is faster
One i want to know is if the stepping stone shortcut from the gem mine to duradel is actually quicker than just running around, i assume it would be but a few times i exit the mine the same tick as someone, take the shortcut, but they seem to get to duradel before i do.
Insanely faster, no test required!
I have a myth that ive noticed. if i wait a while to do a birdhouse run. I tend to get more nests than if i do them regularly throughout the day. Of course ill end up with a similar amount since im doing them more frequently but, From a single bird house there seems to be more than the more frequently visited ones.
runescape content is very few right now , good to finally see a video
Another shortcut I’ve always wondered about was the incredibly long black screen when using the agility shortcut in the Asgarnian ice dungeon to skeletal wyverns. Only positive seems to be the save of your run energy
You should do the agility shortcut from lumby to varrock at the fork, along with running around it past the guild.
Myth: In the maze random event, it is faster to move it the tile before each door and then click it tick perfect than it is to just click the door. (in the cases where running to the door has you run all the way to the tile and not stop and walk the last one.) Maybe I'm just fooling myself but it feels faster.
Really love this series Soup. Thank you
That wiki plugin is actually great, definitely enabling it. Would love to have a more updated wiki
Regarding shortcuts that don’t save you time. I believe the hydra shortcut in Mount Karuulm slayer dungeon is the same time as if you ran, you just aren’t hit by hydras on the way through.
And the Per Rock thing, I know you’re being a little cheeky, but whenever you enter your home instance it spawns in the pets on random tiles. You can have multiple “extra” pets in your menagerie up to 12 total. I put a bunch of rocks in for DKs trips and it’s very easy to see they just spawn in rendomly every time you load.
Super good community shoutout to have the crowdsourcing things on. Makes the wiki less random opinions and more hard data :)
Myth: Through the use of excessive logging out and patience you can utilize a smithing boost eternally
It's 12 seconds. You can world hop before you're logged in for 12 seconds to keep boosts forever.
Your videos are in a different league man! Always a treat when I see a soup upload
Either I'm insane or something is 100% bugged with the resurrect crops spell. I swear like half the time the crops that I resurrect die. My theory is that compost isn't re-applied correctly, even though it tells you it is.
76 agility and I keep failing the varrock lvl31 stepping stones to draynor there is 4 instances of agility checks (1 for each stone). Almost impossible to cross well on the 2nd and 3rd stone. Always slip.
There should be a point where the draynor shortcut does not save time (the more north of draynor you are starting from). It would be interesting to know the breakeven point between the two paths
It's really funny too with that shortcut it actually had a lower agility requirement, and no diary achievement needed back in OG RS
14:23 did he forget oak or am I tripping?
That was fun. Hope you do more.
Please look into the myth, if you have run on while thieving from an ardy knight while someone is splashing will cause the knight to move more then if you had run off
Always a good day when Soup uploads
I saw something on Reddit a while ago about nuggets from MLM being more common at levels ending in 1. 61,71,81,91 etc
The shortcut to Alchemical Hydra is known to not really save time but its be interesting to see exactly how close it is vs just running past the little hydras.
You do very interesting videos man, keep going!
The pet rock myth can easily be explained by it being moved by other pets/the servant/a burglar when we're not home!
Make your rock fight another pet. Confirmed baby rock crab. Its definitely alive, when you place it in the fighting arena it will throw up a question mark then a bunch of "frown" =-( faces. I think it even jumped out of the arena the first time I placed another pet in with it. The pet rock definitely has unique interaction, and not only mechanically acts like an actual pet, but it very much has functions that give it a personality.
Saving ticks with shortcuts- theres that stile that goes across the fence past the chicken coop and cow field in Lumbridge to the path that leads to Varrock and the Dark Wizards. Is that quicker than going around the bend near Al Kharid and the broken down cart?
If I remember correctly it also requires an agility level and is members only? I remember not being able to jump it as a kid because I was F2P only haha
Yess i missed this series a ton
What a great series! You rock Soup
There's also a runelite plugin that plays a sound per tick (normally used for tick manipulation skilling)
Would love to see the Shilo Village shortcut from the gem mine to Duradel. Is it faster to take the shortcut?
Loved the video Soup, thanks for the awesome content :)
Myth: Fishing spots will never move if nobody is fishing at it.
Do Fishing spots work like trees, a 1 in x change for the spot to move after each xp drop? Or are they set on timers that will move regardless if someone's using it?
Is the agility check faster than the strength check when going to god wars dungeon?
Pet rock moves at the dks doors. If you leave and have to come back before it despawns it will be about 5 tiles away from where you left it
Myth: You will recieve more birdnests from birdhouses that has been ready to harvest for a while as opposed to birdhouses that just became ready to harvest. And same with herbpatches?
Hey soup, is it true that its faster to open the gate while running to charge air orbs in the edgeville dungeon than to run around?
Ad read made me giggle because I actually was listening to the video with Raycon earbuds.
The draynor shortcut got me thinking. Lately, when I TP to Varrock, I've been running north through the castle grounds to get to the GE because it feels faster. Is it actually faster than running west and going behind the bank? EDIT: This is obviously assuming you don't TP directly to the GE.
Myth: You can body block a farmer while pickpocketing but someone running underneath you will cause something in the farmers code to update and the block will fail. Not sure if this is a myth really, but would like to have a better understanding of the mechanics behind this.
I suggest trying out the hydra shortcut compared to running all the way around as it has a super long wait in the shortcut
I think there is more to the POH load times. Myth: POH loads faster if your rooms are in the bottom left of the grid.
"Can I submit a myth secretly?"
Proceeds to put his name and a screenshot of the secret request in the video
GG Soup
Soup! We need another one of these!
Myth: after taking breaks from the game, you have better RNG. Ever take a few weeks off and then come back and the drops just roll in?
Then not so much a myth, but certain pets will interact with the Cat Tree in your POH. The two I’ve seen are the Hell Puppy and Vorki. Pretty interesting.
I've always wondered that too.
Does account age/world your own/location you're at play a roll in any RNG?
Methinks no. No, it's all mental.
exactly what i just needed! ty
Myth: Birds nests have a higher chance to spawn when there's more walkable tiles around it.
I was just about to roll over to sleep and saw you uploaded a new video.. how can you do this to me Soupie!! Im sure itll be a banger as always
0:30 - "submit a myth secretly" after revealing all the submitter's personal info
Here's a myth I've been wondering about forever that I'm still not sure either way about:
Does running away from, or into an incoming projectile attack (mage/range) affect the exact time the hit will land on you? (e.g. Does running away from an already airborne dark bow spec make it hit later, therefore giving you more time to eat?)
Myth: The Enhanced crystal weapon seed exists
(1800kc)
I feel like the Stile shortcut in Draynor was more effective when those gates could close. People would lock you out and you would have the animation of opening the gate, it's not much of a difference, but maybe saved a whole second instead.
7:47 probably pointed out before but the mith grapple shortcut at falador is literally SLOWER, like a lot
When running a Maze Random Event, is it faster to click the gates from far away, or click the tile before the gate, then click the gate after reaching said tile?
Thanks soup! Great content my dude
The only reason I upgraded my menagerie was to have more rocks in my house - yes, you can stack them
this is great. love this concept
the agility shortcut to the alchemical hydra is slower than running there iirc but you avoid taking any damage from the regular hydras
Soup that Raycon transition was too seamless lmao
Myth: If you stand on portal spawn in Guardians of the Rift, can it spawn on top of you or always spawn somewhere else? If it cannot spawn on top of you, what if you cover all of the spawns?
The teleportation can be attributed by your ram, internet speed and cache.
Teleporting will probably be different for most people
I keep my pet rock in my POH most of the time and always just assumed it was a SCP-173 type of situation.
does it take longer to use the agility shortcut between lumbridge and varrock? The one near the hops farming spot
Myth: You can get a superior Monster to spawn if you reanimate a Monster you have a task for.
I would like to say, I have seen the fence stile in use in the back country for whom ever to step offer with ease. It is a real thing!
You should try the draynor - port sarim shortcut from the amulet of glory teleport
I am 100% convinced that the Attas seed is bugged. It should increase yield, but it actively decreased it instead. There was a tweet from mod ash a while ago in which he said something fishy was going on, but I can't find conclusive evidence of the contrary. Ash said it might have something to do with a strange interaction with the bottomless bucket.
Fun fact on the log cutting one, sullisceps have a 1/16 chance of cutting down
i just figured out that more than 1 kandarin headgear in the cave horror caves makes your screen BRIGHTER and BRIGHTER. Pretty cool huh
Theirs a shortcut in the elven area after you pass the gate from east ardy that is significantly slower than to run around it
Wow this series just shows how far RS has gone... It was so popular that a youtube show was created about it!! (More than 1) I love OSRS...
Next one you should do the Trollheim mountain teleport, which ways are truly quickest when doing what activities? Aswell as Perdu, does he just so happen to be where the player is or is there multiple perdus? (Can the player ever render 2 perdus at once)
Here's another agility related myth for you: the agility shortcut to get to Alchemical Hydra is NOT faster than simply running around.
Myth: There's no quitting Runescape, only taking breaks.
