Thank you for this piece of history. I will never forget the times when psychedelic trance used to be more than Kick, and tripple baselines.
All things come full circle at some point. Just pray you're alive to see the second coming of Trance.
there's just more to choose from, trance went from goa trance to a bunch of different genres. so you can still find a bunch of nice ones but because of how much options there are it's harder to find.
TRANCE IS ON THE MAP , BIG TIME !!!
Young producers like me recognise the more complex older trance subgenres, so hopefully i can be one small part in bringing back that ‘second coming of Trance’ !
You are so right, what is called trance today is not trance, its not getting you into the trance state, goa trance is for the brain, todays trance is for the legs.
Dragonfly Records, Hallucinogen, Flying Rhino... And the Tip Toppest TIP Records.... Brilliant !
lsd is one of the best tunes ever
Destiny plays a big role here... certain things are destined. I'm from a small town in southern India, Kerala but my first job posting was Mumbai, then Bombay. And fortunately, this music scene unfolded then and i was lucky to attend few rave parties in Goa and some of them at beach resorts in Mumbai! That was the years '95/'96.
After about 15 parties in Mumbai, cops started busting them and newspapers reported of usage of charas/hash, mushrooms and psychedelic stuff which caused the ban of such parties in India. Thereafter, there were couple of parties held discretely in farm lands away from the city. But they were busted too by cops. So i consider myself as lucky coz i was at the right place at the right time! I had been to parties where I've seen (not met) Dj RajaRam and Youth so this documentary brings back memories! I've been listening to those music ever since and I'm launching my first this kinda music soon. First performance/launchvat Nyege Nyege Festival in Africa from nov 9 to 12 this year. Hope to create memories of my yesteryears with music and continue to be a part of this psychedelic trance movement! Big up for sharing this!
How do you see the future with Modi government? /

thank you for sharing this
oh nice I didn't know this was on youtube I used to go to all the Return to the source parties mainly the ones at Holloway rd Uni. Club Dog and Club Alien also did that venue. What a life it was back then..
yep at the Rocket - loved those nights
@@chrisb222 I just rewatched this, was that filmed with a potato ?? the quality is so bad and its not that long ago.. Funny listening to the punters at the door waiting to go in, I remember those nights at Holloway, just about every weekend for years, couldn't wait to finish work on a Friday, go get a few beers at the queens, score some tabs from the crusty and his girl, then get a cab down to the rocket, go back to mine across the road at 7am for spliffs and tinkering on the Juno 6 till we passed out. Life was so simple then.
Just found this because i was searching for the original sample used in a track. Great to see such an old documentary archived.
Thanks a lot for this... Nostalgia Time.
I was there. It sucks now though.
I used to go to Return to the Source - remember that TP well
Enough old heads complaining about "how it used to be" and more people talking about bringing trance back into a new era, which is what's happening now.
I'm from 90s and while I listen old trance or old sounding trance at home I don't want to just sit around talking about old parties!
Who cares about some memory it's boring
3:18 this reminds me strongly on the "Groove 130 BPM" Movie Scene in the beginning of the Warehouse Rave :-) epic stuff and still one of the better Rave Movies to watch.
Gold! 🙌
They are soooo young!!! Jeeez! 😲😲😲😲😲😲 Hallucinogen 💖💖

tracklist ?
Green nuns conflict
This was when I started getting into it. After 20 years or so I really become disillusioned. Modern Psytrance is too digitised and sterile compared to the original Goa Trance. I don’t go to clubs any more but I went to Dragon Dreaming last year,, everything sounds better when it’s outdoors.
Global Sect, and Suntrip records. You are welcome. :)
Forest Psy is where the good stuff is nowadays.
conflict by Green nuns of the revolution
mars still needs wouimen
:)
Boingy Boingy lol
2:29 track id?
Green Nuns of the Revolution - "Conflict"
They actively discourage drug taking, but of course.
Lol sanitised version - we're like a church and discourage drugs.
Real version - cain as much as you possibly can!
Was there!
Did Astral Projection live at the Academy on a microdot... did Return to the Source at the Fridge as sober as a judge.
Every night was special. Every night was awesome.
The very best of times.
haha also did acid for Astral Projection at Brixton Academy. 2001-ish, i think. Highlight was the afterparty in Fridge Bar. Amazing night. LSD and Psy-Trance is a match made in heaven. Even Dr Hofmann himself eventually agreed (check out that video of Goa Gil taking him to a goa-festival).
If you want the real deal, check out the Focal Point london goa-trance club documentary from 1992. This 1995 lot were just a bunch of grabby capitalists exploiting the idea commercially. The genuine pioneer was Mark Maurice, the founder of Focal point. He started it in Goa. Then he continued it in London.
'Grabby capitalists?' Absolute nonsense. Yes the Focal Point documentary is great and it was the first regular goa-style club night in London, but the protagonists in this video were largely there from the start too, and James Monro and Dom Lamb were resident DJs at Focal Point, after all...
@@clockendgoonern5 Yes they were, but then why did they deny that The Focal-Point was a Trance night ? Anyone that was there knows the truth .Raja Ram,Youth,Chris Decker etc were all punters but they pretended that the club didn't exist or help kick start the scene.Wish i could remember the names of all the DJ's who played there ;Goa Rod,Dom Lamb,James Monro,Mike Maguire,Serge Souque,Tsuyoshi Suzuki,Ollie Wisdom, etc then of course the club goers included so many DJ's,Producers,Artists, Eat-Static,Orbital,Laughing- Buddha,Jamiroquai,Carl Cox etc that are now known all over the world & yet certain people still deny The Focal Point it's rightful place in the history of The Trance movement. It's like trying to remove The Sex Pistols from the history of Punk. Those guys owe Jason Smith & Mark Maurice a huge debt of gratitude. Before Focal Point James Monro & Dominic Lamb had never even played a single DJ spot in a club.
Mark Maurice is a badass and I love his Philosophy towards the music. I apply it to my productions very liberally.
@@pleasure1689 is he involved today? Maybe not in trance...a lot of early people hate today's sound and rightly so but it's funny that the narrowing of frequency to kick out unwanted would kick out those who built it
PSYTRANCE SUCKS !!!!!!!
