Yes, so much better back then.
The 90's had such great diversity of music it was hard not to have a variety of different CDs to jam to. Looking back it was truly a magical and unique decade. 😢 I miss those innocent days of just cruising and smoking and hanging with friends for hours with no distractions from the real world.
Agreed with you 100% except I didn’t smoke.
Actually the 1920's helped raise me! #flapperwomen
@rebecca8525 some people are learning to start over again. It takes time.
Man I remember this video when it was played on MTV. To all the young people discovering this band, please be grateful that RUclips exists. We didn't have RUclips back then so we either had to wait for the video to be on MTV or watch it on dial up.
Damn you are right
Damn what fun days back then... Remember the dial up requests for a song... So fun waiting when your song ia next... You just cant wait for the current song ro get over so its your song's turn to play.
I will not appreciate it sir

No Doubt: One of the reasons why the 90's ruled!!!
I agree. I was mostly a metal head, but I woul drop everything to listen to No Doubt. Gwen had me and every other creature absolutely mesmerized with her cool chick next door personality.
No doubt!!
Yes.
The 90s kicked fucking ass!
I have to confess, I was always calling myself "the enemy" at school, liking all the Modernist Soul and Rock'n'Roll revivalist bands, but didn't mind a bit of Goth, and ended up having a few Goth friends. Most of the friction at school, if any, to my mind, was based on anti-Thatcherism, denying wanting to let someone work, or some of my fellow Southerners being their own worst enemy. Though I have also liked bands such as No Doubt, which to my mind, are on the cusp of Ska and Punk. Or bands which are on the cusp of Ska and Rock'n'Roll.
I was in a ska band that opened for No Doubt in Montréal in 1997, and hung out with Gwen. She was a force of nature.

This song is 26 years old, I remember listening to it for the first time when I was 8. Back when MTV played music

This song in particular gives me goosebumps at the very end after the last fast part of the refrain, the way the tempo slows down ohmygoodness 3:36 😪🤗
Somehow, I DO remember watching this on MTV. Thanks for unearthing a memory, Amanda Leehan-Canto!

😂 Glad I'm not the only one who needed to search up the song 😅😅
This song came out when I was in high school. Back then I couldn’t read those Japanese subtitles in the video. I eventually studied abroad in Tokyo and worked in Osaka for 3 years. Now I’m back in America and can read all of it! My life came full circle!

My fav no doubt song- i love how this is one of their more true ska influenced songs. I love how the song is fun, catchy, energetic, shifty (the melody changes and shifts a lot m, which i love, bc the song takes you different places). I love the bridge leading up to the chorus the best- “And now I’m stuck in/The web you’re spinning/You’ve got me for your prey”
No doubt are back together
The bass line and drum in this song just so epic 🤘

its silly how everyone is like "i wish pop was still like this!!!!", this wasnt pop really. it was just a ska band that got mainstream fame lol
Ska-ish
@@saritatambayong4002 - ska adjacent
90s pop as a whole took a lot more chances than todays pop music. The style, artistic talent and subject matter in songs hit way harder then. There's a ton of good new music out now too but not the pop. Pop is so plastic, synthetic, autotuned and safe. Its garbage. MTV used to play Marilyn Manson on TRL ffs
nah this is pop....pop music wasn't such an insult as it was now. Madonna was pop and she was all over the place. Pop was anything back then not rock, rap, jazz, country or gospel.
They were ska as shit on previous albums. Not their first album btw
This is another one of those songs that no matter what year it is, I'll always imagine that this came out 5 years ago. Timeless!
Exactly...it doesn't sound so typical 90's
@@TR-ue7rt Ska and reggae span generations.
How does a typical '90's song sound? The genre the band performs is actually ska which was most popular between the 1950-80's.
The song that introduced me to No Doubt and I’m so glad. My favorite rock band. Tragic Kingdom was the first album I owned and one of the greatest albums ever. I still rock out to it to this day.
I was into heavy metal and rock but I had to own this album. It is really a jem. Love Sunday Morning , Excuse Me Mr and Tragic Kingdom .

Those trumpets in the beginning and throughout the whole song are so reminiscent of 90s music and vibes. Reminds me of something that would be in the intro of a teen rom-con from the time.
They're a follow on from the 80's UK 2tone Ska
I love the skinny eyebrows, bare midriff, weird hair cut and jewels on her face.... all the late 90s and early 2000s trends that made my youth ROCK!

I just love how people look back on Gwen's history and are like 'what the fuck? Gwen done this sort of badass music? I always thought she was just another pop diva!". It makes me so happy because it's a nice shocker when you introduce "solo Gwen" fans to "No Doubt Gwen". Two completely different people.
What's more, many of those people will be aware of "Don't Speak", but have no idea of the album it came from.
It's depressing, honestly. I liked No Doubt Gwen. Can't stand pop divas.
Oh she rocked man. She was big in the ska scene back in the day. She just got over saturated and commercialized which equals poppy. In her day she was right there with all the big boys..
For those of you over 30...wasnt this the coolest shit you ever heard in middle school!?❤

not that she's not still as awesome but i miss this Gwen and just the old No Doubt in general
Same. I miss the 90s No Doubt. It was just so damn good.
They might come back in the future! A lot of great bands in all types of music, pop, rock, r and b, country typically take breaks and make comebacks after a long dry spell. But either way like a lot of great female pop singers Gwen is a jack of all trades, pop, ska-rock, alternative-rock, her Hollaback song in 2005 was pop with hip-hop feelings! She can do it all. I consider her a mix of Queen Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne who is the all-time queen of pop-punk music which is very close to the ska-rock music that No Doubt perfected in the 90s!
David Salahshor You're absolutely right and awesome to hear I really hope they do! Haha that's a great way to describe her! I think that's why even after her style and music went into all these varieties I still continue to be a fan of Gwen 💜 and will always be a fan of No Doubt 😁

A likely story, but (Yeah) leave a message
And I'll call you back
And it's all your fault
I screen my phone calls
No matter who calls
I gotta screen my phone calls
Oooh, the spiderwebs
Leave a message and I'll call you back
I'm walking into spiderwebs
So, leave a message and I'll call you back
I'm walking into spiderwebs
It's all your fault, no matter who calls
I gotta screen my phone calls
It's all your fault, it's all your fault
No matter who calls, no matter who calls
I'm walking into spiderwebs so,
Leave a message and I'll call you back
I'm walkin into spiderwebs
Leave a message and I'll call you back
Ooh, it's all your fault
No matter who calls
I gotta screen my phone call
It's all your fault
No matter-matter-matter who calls
I screen my phone calls
I'm walkin into spiderwebs
Leave a message and I'll call you back
Thank you. :)

I'll never forget the first time I heard this song/saw this video. I was about 11 years old, down the Cape, watching MTV with my friend in her cottage. Life-changing. Have loved all things Gwen ever since. 🥰👑
love the cape!
No doubt my man
@@davemorrison312 I think she's just a girl, in the world 🌎
Everyone loved this album back in the day. Kids and adults a like. This album transcends.
Yeah, Guitar Hero World Tour was bomb
R u talking about the one for ds
Ya, I was the PRO at that game!
Sometimes I get out my old DS and play it, because it's the best
Dani Dinosaur i wish i could still play it but my ds broke. if it wasnt for that game, i wouldnt know about rhcp
+trapiac Wii version. This song is easy but still really fun on expert guitar and expert drums.
I just started listening to this album for the first time, and it is sooo good. Can't believe it took me so long to pay attention to No Doubt.
You’re late!
The entirety of Tragic Kingdom is absolutely amazing
In the spiderwebs late af. Get comfy
These songs are still dope af in 2020
The bass in this song is underrated..it's good
2:04 the song is so iconic that you can completely forget it also has one of the best bridges of all time
Gwen will ALWAYS BE BETTER in No Doubt then by herself.
This era is her best look as well
I think Nodout is a really unique band. This song is very energetic and empowering.
Many bought this album for Don’t Speak, but this was one of the many absolutely phenomenal tracks on this album. A perfect example of “All killer, no filler”…still just as good today as it was back then.
I got the cassette for Don’t speak but found out there were So many dope tracks
@@kissoftruth5777 no lies told
@@kissoftruth5777 …and I love that you’d the cassette, it just dates the album to perfection.
Love No Doubt. This came on the radio and I had to find the lyrics. Definitely heard it in the 90s/00s.
One of my favorite songs of all time!
@Per Capita underneath it all.. I'm pretty good thank you
This album is the soundtrack to my middle school days!
I can thank my older sister for being a huge No Doubt fan. I was just 6 maybe and my sis introduced me to many great bands that I would've missed out on. I didn't like it as much as when I got a bit older but damn this song never gets old. never will there be another No Doubt.
do you guys remember when we were all 7 years old and thought tragic kingdom would be the best album we ever heard. and then we were right!
Matt Brown literally thinking the same thing. Best album ever.
It was all downhill from there.
It’s 4:16am and I’m currently listening to this MASTERPIECE
2:45 am crazy song this amazing
It’s 2020 and I’m over here still dancing to this kick ass song and band💖💖💖
Learned about this song through Guitar hero over 10 years ago randomly started playing in my head this morning still holds up and sounds just as great as when I first heard it 🔥🔥
This is on a guitar hero game?? ❤
@@kissoftruth5777yeah on the gutair hero world tour game it’s my fav song
The music of the 90's was good. How I miss it so.
I honestly think 80s and 90s music is 1000 times better than today's music.
Been listening to this wonderful band since my teenage years.
i am so sick of Gwen not demanding her flowers for being the fucking legend she is, with ND and solo. it's WILD how many monster hits this woman has had and we don't treat her like fucking pop ROYALTY.
The music of the 90's was good. How I miss it so.
God, i LOVE her pants!!!
Brings back the feeling of playing Guitar Hero :) ahhh the nostalgia
Onesho Yi ikr
Thank you Guitar Hero for showing me this amazing band!
Saw them 20 years ago in DC and it was one of the best concerts of my life so far! They're just as awesome live if not more ❤️
I have a feeling peter parker listens to this song
Hosanna Pwasanga nice

Spider Gwen
What she never understood was that her weirdness made her special, and as soon she started to act like everybody in else in Hollywood her fame failed. 😩😩💔
larebefin people have children and grow up. She is an amazing human being and shouldn’t be judged on how you want her to be. Peace, stay real.
she still weird af she just grown
Failed??? You are a clown 🤏🏻
Stefani is frozen in time man.
Her fame didnt fail! Shes bigger now than back in the late 90s. And she was really famous then!
@@Etatdesiege1979 her fame never died it just went country lol.
I will never get sick of nodoubt!
This popped into my head for some reason. I was singing the hook for my husband, he said he didn't know the song so I HAD to play it 😂
Back in 1996, a couple of girls at my college used the "sorry I'm not home right now..." part as their answering machine recording. It was cute how proud they were of themselves for thinking to use it.
