She really told the haters "Womp womp womp womp womp womp womp"
I wouldn’t personally consider this a pop song. With those heavy guitar riffs I would consider this a rock song.

I feel like Gwen doesn’t get talked about enough in the “most influential pop stars” category.
I think so to because she inspired a lot of big stars today
That’s what I’m thinking!
Because she isn't pop
@@oasis4ever718 LOL WHAT

As a metal head and not really a pop fan I miss pop songs with such heavy instrumentals
You should definitely check out Rina Sawayama’s album. The guitars on that rip harder than the guitars on a lot of rock albums nowadays. You’ll love it. Dynasty has a sick solo. And stuff like Who’s Gonna Save You Now, STFU, and XS just fucking rock. I have no idea how she isn’t the biggest pop star in the world right now.
Also you might like Poppy. She started off as sort of a bubblegum pop pastiche and then pivoted into being like sort of an American answer to Babymetal. Though at this stage I think Poppy’s stuff has become more embraced by the metal community than the pop one.
Agreed.
Nobody Cares if you are mEtAl HeAd just listen to MUSIC and enjoy ART
Gwen made this song just after leaving a punk rock band that she’d been in for 16 years. Probably explains why her pop songs are on the heavier side. I love it.

When Gwen Stefani debuted as a solo artist she NEVER imagined that every artist post her would try to copy her style. Her impact is literally everywhere now.

Facts
I agree with you. I'm seeing Katy Perry and Lady Gaga here.
@I despise straight men Madonna was literally over and considered "crappy" and "anti-cool" music until Confessions (released after Gwen's LAMB) The "sing-rapping" sounds nothing like Gwen or the kind of style that's a trend right now. If anything, Gwen did it first since the 90s with her reggae/ska songs and also in 2000 with her single "Ex-Girlfriend". Madonna was a big star in the 80s but don't act like she invented everything lol. Plus, no one cares about Madonna nowadays. Ps: Even Confessions was influenced by LAMB. It was Gwen (mixing a lot of genres) who made Pop interesting again. Madonna is the queen of pop but she would never be as cool as Gwen.
Damn i miss this era. Gwen stefani, missy eliot, britney, etc.
I’d do anything to go back to those years
Same here! That era was the best ❤️
yeah, and Nelly Furtado same

What you waiting for. Lol
If released today, would be the hottest song on the charts. Waayyyyyy before its time. Timeless song.
I mean probably not today, but certainly a good 5/6 years after it was first released. The song definitely foreshadowed Gaga etc.
Absolutely!!
I remember this being one of the most popular songs and praised when it was released?
@@JukeJonathan That's where we differ in opinion. The song was popular, but not #1 record in the US popular. While many would say it was the best song on the album, it was very underrated in comparison to how it performed on the charts in relation to her contemporaries.

And it is not even the complete version of the video.
As a young kid I didn't realize the importance of this song. Now I do.
Please explain
@@CarbonBeast Sometimes it takes getting older to realize how much you never knew about yourself. And I don't mean turning 90. I mean, in your 30s, for some people it is their 40s, you begin to see how much you COULD have done when you were younger. But you didn't. And sometimes you then feel like it might be too late. Because there is always a catch to what you want to do and where you want to be... and that catch is TIME. There is always a process to accomplish something, to become the person you thought you could be - or the person you never even thought of, but now you KNOW and now you feel discouraged because you have finally figured it out, but you just NEED MORE TIME. Well, this song... it helps to put our minds in the perspective of "it is NOT too late." That's it. Honestly, it is just that simple. And by that, I mean it is just that fucking complicated. Because when you get older, when you pass that 20s threshold of "I have infinity and beyond"... you complicate and you doubt yourself and you lose perspective. And then you lose hope. But this message - it is a reminder and a proper kick in the ass that we just gotta get the fuck out of that failure mindset! And do what we need to do , what we CAN STILL FUCKING DO, to make something of ourselves. RIGHT NOW. Not later. Not tomorrow. And goddammit, not fucking yesterday or fifteen years ago. Do. It. Now. Because we are all still super hot females and males and people (hot means driven! it means full of life and love!) and we have so much life within us to be human, and be great, and be ourselves... and we all matter. And we can all make a difference to whatever it is we need and want to. We just need to believe in ourselves. Fuck any haters and their criticism. You be you. You are human, you are amazing, and you fucking matter. So whatcha waiting for? Get off your ass and be the person you know you fucking are. We all support you. We are all in the same boat one day or another. xo Love and Respect to every person. 💖✌

The song was ahead of its time. Hollaback Girl saved the album (and made the album and her solo launch huge), but this song was what best represented who Gwen wanted to be as a solo artist back then. Pop, eclectic, fun, adventurous, but always with a wink and a conscientiousness on knowing how ridiculous she was being. Loved her then, love her now.

This is one of my favorite videos ever. This was way too much for 2004. Gwen Stefani has it all in this video, great moves and great voice, even the cross-cultural Japanese thing is spot on, all the harajuku girls are talking the correct tone of Japanese.
well they are Japanese so duh
Don't forget the Alice and wonderland references
+markipliernoticeme Gwen is different her entire line is based on haranuku. Haranuku is a district in Japan. That's where the fashion comes from. It's street fashion from that area. It's not a Japanese thing per say. It's an area sub culture. Gwen's line was created for them to pay homage to that sub culture. She wanted to show the world this amazing underground fashion movement. It's evolved to what it is now. Gwen identifies with this style and they identify with her. Avril doesn't identify nor is she submerged in this culture the way Gwen is. Avril did it because it looks cool. Gwen does it because she's is a Harajuku girl. Her entire image is laced with Harajuku.
+Almestica Red Hey Red, it's Harajuku, not Haranuku. Harajuku is a district of Tokyo that started it's street dancing and cosplay subculture in the late 70s with the 'Takenokozoku' - roughly translated as 'Bamboo shoot culture'.
Wow that's pretty cool, I had no idea. I thought, like most people I think, it was just about the interesting look and it was just a kinda harmless fad she was going through. I doubt many people realize she's deeper and more cultured than she seems, and more committed to have put so much effort into learning and embracing and forming such a strong connection with this movement.
