I have been thinking about getting my first Robo vacuum for a few months now and when I heard about this I decided to hold off from getting anything until I saw reviews like this. I'm liking what I'm hearing so it seems the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra will be my first. Thank you for a great review. I can't wait till May!
So I just saw the new deebot x1 omni and it is a lot similar to the new Roborock but with rotating mopping and a lot Sleeker design for the auto Cleaningdok , I would like to see a side by side Comparison of the new beebot vs the new Roborock 😘
I got the X1 Omni. Been testing for a week now. When it works it's really nice. But I have experience some issues. It's only getting wet on one mop. Hade to run quickmapping twice, because after 2 days it refused to use the first map. There are some issues merging and dividing zones. It's good at avoiding obstacles and cleaning around chairs ect. But I'm considering to return it and get a S7 MaxV

Hi - great review! Do you have to remove the mop from the roborock at anytime or can you just have it mounted at all time (while only vacuuming) or does it always clean while attached?
I would have said yes, as I'm nearly positive the dock won't activate without the bag (as that was my experience on the S7+). Your S7+ is emptying into a bagless dust bin area?

Apparently there is a proprietary solution that Roborock will be making and selling, however, we didn't have any for testing. For testing we just used water.
Thank you so much for the detailed review of the model S7 MaxV Ultra. Compared with other Roborock family robots, its price is indeed higher. Personally speaking, I think it is reasonable. For me, its features, like self-empty, wash and fill, are super convenient. Also, I don't need to worry much about its getting stuck in the middle of cleanup, with the object avoidance technology.
Surprisingly well. It is without question the best version of this type of mop I've tested to date. Arguably better than the Narwal T10, which is still my current favorite...though I'm only a few weeks into my long term test of the S7 MaxV Ultra. Within the next few months of testing I should have a better idea on which is #1. There is a huge amount of dirt and dust in the waste water tank after each clean.
this model is really fantanstic, as it could empty dustbin and wash mop by itself. I may consider it when my S7 retires. I hope I could afford to buy a second one this year. Thank you for your video, as it convinces me Roborock is the best one.

I have some questions, maybe you or someone else can help me out: 1. Can I schedule the robot to vacuum only the entire house at a specific time, and do let's say 2 cleaning cycles per room? I know you can increase the cleaning cycles on Zone Cleaning Mode, but was wondering if you can do the same with Scheduled Cleaning Mode. 2. If I select vacuum only, and keep the moping attachment on, will the moping attachment be raised during vacuuming? 3. I own a large breed dog, that sheds a lot, and often. I run my current robot once a day, and still I have to empty the dustbin daily, as it fills up. Sometimes the dustbin even overfills, and because of that, the extra hair coils around the brush. Sometimes the hair clumps at the entrance of the dustbin, and even though the dustbin is empty, it cannot fill up any more, because of this, the extra hair ends up getting coiled around the brush. So will this new model solve this issue? Will the suction power from the home station be powerful enough to pull these large hairs and empty the dustbin properly? 4. How often must I refill the water tank and empty the dirty water from the main station? I plan to mop daily, at high scrub intensity and highest water setting? 5. 1. I believe there is a way to do that, however, you will likely run into run time issues. 2. Yes 3. Most likely yes 4. Depends on how often you clean and the amount of hard surface floors. However, if you use high scrub intensity I would guess you'll be changing it every day or every other 5. As with #4, it depends on you big your home is, how often you clean, and how dirty your home is. Generally, bags last 2-3 months.
Hi, I saw in some different review that the dirty water tank and the mop cleaning area start to stink after few days and therefore the "full autonomy" is not achieved as you have to regularly clean those areas and change the water. What is your experience?
The water tank definitely stinks. I make a point to empty it every couple of days. As for the mop cleaning area, I haven't noticed any strong odors there yet, and I've been using for around a month at this point.
MaxV Plus is fine with me. I dont need it to wipe the mop for me, I can just swap out the pad. I feel like the ultra just takes up too much room as well. Wish they were out already as I want to upgrade my 6MaxV. Shame the 7 and 7plus dont have the AI.
I have a house with half standard bedroom carpet and half tile. 3 dogs... Some of the tile needs to be accessed through the carpeted bedroom. Which Robot do I want? Im on the fence. Both $1399 right now. I like the avoidance that the Roborock has where it takes photos. But, does that make it better? Please let me know what you think?
Any of the S7 MaxV series would be a good pick due to the obstacle avoidance and ability to lift / lower the mopping attachment. If you wanted to send a little less money the S7 is an option also, no object avoidance, but still has the lift / lower on the mopping attachment. Check to see if the on-board bin is clogged And also check to see if anywhere on the dock is clogged. Sometimes hair or other objects can get stuck in there.

I don't believe you can manually set it to do that, but it does seem to basically do it on its own. The robot goes back to the dock several times during a cleaning session to empty the bit and wash the mop.

Nope. It wets itself. It seems to use plenty of water. During the course of a cleaning session of my entire home it uses around 30% of the large water tank, so I know that water is getting used.
Do you have to have the mop pad detached for it to vacuum carpet? I just bought an Omni deebot x1 and the mop pads must be removed to vaccum the carpet.
In my view, yes. I can see visibly wet water trails where it has been mopping. I can also tell that the large base tank fully empties itself every 2-3 cleans (my house is around 2,600 square feet).
Just bought a deebot neo. Any idea how it compares to this cleaning wise? The mop feature on the neo is pretty much useless. Thinking of returning it and upgrading.

Ah, good point, I should have covered that better. Overall, it does a pretty good job at cleaning the mopping pads. Not amazing, but definitely good enough. If you're mopping your floors every day then you'll still want to wash / dry the mopping pad once a week or so. But if you mop less often than they you should be able to delay that. All that said, it's at least as good as cleaning the mopping pads as the Narwal T10 is (which is another high end mop I love).
Best choice among the S7 MaxV? In terms of cleaning performance, they are all the same. It's just a matter of usability and convinience. MaxV Ultra is the best overall version though without question.

@@Sphm-sl6wx Ah, gotcha, Roomba is the best for pet hair due to the dual rubberized brushrolls...which must be a patent or other proprietary tech, because I never see the dual rubber brushes elsewhere. In any case, Roomba i3, i7, j7, or S9 would be my top picks.
This looks quite impressive actually - do you plan to review any of the Eufy line of Vacuums? It seems the Roborock products are only really available as grey market imports in UK plus a premium - the Eufy line seems quite popular and easily available in the UK. I see the shorts are back, resisting the temptation to follow the long standing tradition of users on this channel to make thirsty comments RE the shorts and socks.😂

@@ModernCastle my bad!! I just searched the channel. I'll have a read of those, I nearly got the X8 (not-hybrid) for my partner for Christmas. The iRobot vacuums are much more available in the UK than the Xiaomi / Roborock vacuums but their pricing just seems ridiculous compared to other brands that appear to have a similar featureset? I think I'd consider one of the Dyson robots over those but I might just be biased as it's a British company.
@@MatHanley X8 is definitely the best among Eufy's we've tested (and one of their highest end in general). Does Dyson sell robot vacuums in the UK? I thought they had discontinued all robots globally.
@@ModernCastle That might explain why there had been offers on the range - it's currently on their website but out of stock there and at major retailers. They might have stopped with the robots entirely.
@@MatHanley Yeah, that's probably the case. They were fully discontinued in the US nearly 3 years ago at this point. I guess their robot vacuum didn't take off like they thought it would. The world definitely wasn't ready for a $1,000 robot in 2017, but now...maybe so. Roborock's S7 MaxV Ultra is supposed to be $1,400 at launch.
Can you define an area a few feet wide that goes through several zone?. like the area from my dog door through the laundry room nd kitchen, they always take the same path. Would be nice to be able to have it mop that at will and not the whole rooms.

If you have medium or high ply carpet these vacuums get stuck because of the rubber rotor piece. I bought the S7 max a year ago and had to return. Hopefully this one fixes that issue ....seems like it's the same rubber rotors
I don't deny your experience. But would counter with my own...I've tested almost every major robot vacuum cleaner on the market on high pile carpets and I have never seen a single one stuck due the spinning brush or brushroll.
Mine did have the same problem before. I saw someone in the forum use the 3-arm brush instead and it works great. I got 2 online and has done a better job so far. You may have a try as well.
I'll see if we can do that in the coming months. I can tell you now that the S7 MaxV is significantly better. Better in terms of raw cleaning performance and in terms of navigation.
Does the object avoidance still work if you cover the RGB camera? (Like with a sticker or something - the robot got a second object avoidance system with the angled sensors in front). Would love to buy the S7 MaxV but concerned about the privacy with a self driving camera.

@@rxappdev I'm still testing it at my home, so I'll try and remember to put a blocker over it. But I'm 95% sure it needs that camera to function. Here's what the Roborock website says: "It can’t be said enough that privacy and security are critical when you have a camera roaming your home. That is why for the purposes of obstacle avoidance, ReactiveAI 2.0 does not save a single image. No images saved means no images to lose. Not only that, S7 MaxV is certified as a safe, smart home product by TUV Rheinland and also meets ETSI EN 303 645 cyber security standards." If it's not taking, but not saving them, that means it's uses the RGB camera as part of it's obstacle detection.
@@ModernCastle Thank you! That would be great if you could test it. I'm more 50/50 if it will work or not. I suspect the camera is used more to help identify what kind of obstacle it is (and ofc snap picture of it). The side sensors should be enough to figure out that there is an obstacle in front of it. I do not really care if it manages to identify if it's a shoe, toy or a cable, as long as it avoids it. Roborock has a robot in China called T7S Plus which has same type of side sensors and no camera, yet it avoids obstacles just the same. They call it "Reactive 3D" there.
I’m wondering how close the robot gets to walls and does it bump into them? I have an old Rumba that is effectively blind and it uses a bump sensor. The problem is over a few years it scuffed up all my trim. Second question: do the charging contacts get dirty to the point where it won’t charge, again this was a problem with my old rumba
The S7 MaxV bumps into stuff less, but it still bumps into stuff a good bit of the them. Yes, the charging contacts do get dirty and should be periodically cleaned. That's still standard among virtually all robot vacuums on the market.
I thought I had found the right robot for me. CONS: "Struggled with long hair and pet hair". I have two cats and my daughter and I have waist-length hair. Back to the drawing board.

Long term testing? How long has this been out? I've been looking for it in Europe however sadly there's no place it can be found.

You need cables in your object avoidance test, thats a very common object on the ground

Do you need to prewet the mop ? If not, when performing a scheduled mopping does it get enough water ?
Nope. It wets itself.
It seems to use plenty of water. During the course of a cleaning session of my entire home it uses around 30% of the large water tank, so I know that water is getting used.
Do you have to have the mop pad detached for it to vacuum carpet? I just bought an Omni deebot x1 and the mop pads must be removed to vaccum the carpet.
No, it will vacuum carpets with or without the mopping pads attached.
Does it bump onto black furniture legs? The S7 without camera had trouble detecting these and would bump fairly hard onto them.
Seems to. I have black barstools that it will bump into. Though I wouldn't say it bumps them especially hard.
How often should a dirty water bank be emptied? Is it smells if you don't empty it after every run?
It does smell pretty bad.
If you can, empty it right after it runs. If not, just empty it as often as you can.
Does it deliver enough water to the mop through the robock onboard tank during mopping ?
In my view, yes. I can see visibly wet water trails where it has been mopping.
I can also tell that the large base tank fully empties itself every 2-3 cleans (my house is around 2,600 square feet).

Just bought a deebot neo. Any idea how it compares to this cleaning wise? The mop feature on the neo is pretty much useless. Thinking of returning it and upgrading.

Great review! I’m really interested in how well the self cleaning mop station works with regards to how clean the pad becomes after a rinse cycle. Any chance this can be reviewed?
Ah, good point, I should have covered that better.
Overall, it does a pretty good job at cleaning the mopping pads. Not amazing, but definitely good enough. If you're mopping your floors every day then you'll still want to wash / dry the mopping pad once a week or so. But if you mop less often than they you should be able to delay that.
All that said, it's at least as good as cleaning the mopping pads as the Narwal T10 is (which is another high end mop I love).
What would be the best choice for a house with 2 long hair dogs?

In terms of cleaning performance, they are all the same.
It's just a matter of usability and convinience.
MaxV Ultra is the best overall version though without question.

@@Sphm-sl6wx Ah, gotcha, Roomba is the best for pet hair due to the dual rubberized brushrolls...which must be a patent or other proprietary tech, because I never see the dual rubber brushes elsewhere.
In any case, Roomba i3, i7, j7, or S9 would be my top picks.
This looks quite impressive actually - do you plan to review any of the Eufy line of Vacuums? It seems the Roborock products are only really available as grey market imports in UK plus a premium - the Eufy line seems quite popular and easily available in the UK.

In general, I've found Eufy to be fine, but also nothing that I'm all that impressed with.

I'll have a read of those, I nearly got the X8 (not-hybrid) for my partner for Christmas. The iRobot vacuums are much more available in the UK than the Xiaomi / Roborock vacuums but their pricing just seems ridiculous compared to other brands that appear to have a similar featureset? I think I'd consider one of the Dyson robots over those but I might just be biased as it's a British company.
@@MatHanley X8 is definitely the best among Eufy's we've tested (and one of their highest end in general).
Does Dyson sell robot vacuums in the UK? I thought they had discontinued all robots globally.
@@ModernCastle That might explain why there had been offers on the range - it's currently on their website but out of stock there and at major retailers. They might have stopped with the robots entirely.

They were fully discontinued in the US nearly 3 years ago at this point. I guess their robot vacuum didn't take off like they thought it would.
The world definitely wasn't ready for a $1,000 robot in 2017, but now...maybe so. Roborock's S7 MaxV Ultra is supposed to be $1,400 at launch.
Can you define an area a few feet wide that goes through several zone?. like the area from my dog door through the laundry room nd kitchen, they always take the same path. Would be nice to be able to have it mop that at will and not the whole rooms.

It's not possible. That's a scam.
I have an S7 MaxV because Roborock's marketing team sent us a sample for testing and review ahead of the launch.
If you have medium or high ply carpet these vacuums get stuck because of the rubber rotor piece. I bought the S7 max a year ago and had to return. Hopefully this one fixes that issue ....seems like it's the same rubber rotors
I don't deny your experience.
But would counter with my own...I've tested almost every major robot vacuum cleaner on the market on high pile carpets and I have never seen a single one stuck due the spinning brush or brushroll.
Mine did have the same problem before. I saw someone in the forum use the 3-arm brush instead and it works great. I got 2 online and has done a better job so far. You may have a try as well.
Does anyone know if there is a bag less version?
Another user mentioned you are able to use it without the bag, and just clean out the dust bin area.
I haven't tested it, but apparently it does work.

Does the object avoidance still work if you cover the RGB camera? (Like with a sticker or something - the robot got a second object avoidance system with the angled sensors in front). Would love to buy the S7 MaxV but concerned about the privacy with a self driving camera.
I'm not sure. I didn't test that, but I would guess no, as it uses all of its sensors and cameras to navigate.

But I'm 95% sure it needs that camera to function.
Here's what the Roborock website says:

If it's not taking, but not saving them, that means it's uses the RGB camera as part of it's obstacle detection.

I suspect the camera is used more to help identify what kind of obstacle it is (and ofc snap picture of it). The side sensors should be enough to figure out that there is an obstacle in front of it. I do not really care if it manages to identify if it's a shoe, toy or a cable, as long as it avoids it.
Roborock has a robot in China called T7S Plus which has same type of side sensors and no camera, yet it avoids obstacles just the same. They call it "Reactive 3D" there.
I’m wondering how close the robot gets to walls and does it bump into them? I have an old Rumba that is effectively blind and it uses a bump sensor. The problem is over a few years it scuffed up all my trim. Second question: do the charging contacts get dirty to the point where it won’t charge, again this was a problem with my old rumba
The S7 MaxV bumps into stuff less, but it still bumps into stuff a good bit of the them.
Yes, the charging contacts do get dirty and should be periodically cleaned. That's still standard among virtually all robot vacuums on the market.

Does anybody know if this will be available also in white? It would be amazing. In general, most apartments/houses have white walls, so I really do not get the black vacuums, white on white is much more stylish.
Not that Roborock has said, but it's a possibility. They have many white variations.
