for some reason watching a Jerry and Linda video has become for me a therapy session - I immediately calm down and forget the stresses of life - Jerry and Linda have a calm manner and can handle wonderfully the negativity that is sometimes spewed their way - they have become an example of good people who are strong and who have pursued a fulfilled life with a friendly and pleasant demeanor- unfortunately nowadays in this chaotic world we dont have an abundance of such people
Aww, CC... thank you! We love what we do!
@@JERRYANDLINDA you are welcome - of course I know you love what you do - it shows and it comes forth as genuine love of life - I watch you both (I would probably not ever be persuaded to live in the Villages ) but because I admire your sensibility - your cohesiveness - your focus - your friendliness - your optimism - that is why I watch you - I think wherever you would live on this planet - you two will make the best of it - you two are content with your lives - and the oxymoron is - it really is not about you - it is about a picture into a couple's interaction with life - how they traverse the journey - is it similar to mine or totally different - it does not matter - and either way - I am learning ( a bit of a philosophical twist here to my comment) - I just hope you both dont morph your videos into a Villages infomercial - stay humble
I find that on You Tube many of the content creators are rather materialistic and self absorbed - I have found a few that really exude humility - I have found them on each of our continents - one man from Kenya whose videos I also watch does not get vindictive no matter how much he has to go through in life - and struggle - like you he is mostly optimistic and keeps on reaching his goals and is focused on the road ahead
@@caribcarib4337 wow. You are so nice. Thank you. 🙂🙂
Keep building - just keep maintaining all the beauty The Villages offers. Imagine playing golf in the morning, then walking over to Disney in the afternoon. Don is a great person - always doing things for others. He's very informative - love his videos.
Thanks, Tony!
We missed you this morning, but you are here now!!! I usually eat breakfast while watching your channel and was concerned when you were absent! Glad all is well.
I love that you have a county commissioner as one of your call-in guests. Here in Austin we also have a lot of problems with short-term rentals, especially as people come into town for enormous festivals and events like Formula 1. We tried to pass local ordinances to help regulate those rentals, but the state legislature gets unhappy when Austin tries to regulate anything and pass a law to supercede our ordinances. An ordinance preventing rentals under 30 days would help a lot. Even under 14 days might help. At least you're not getting the crazy concert partiers that we get here for South by Southwest and Austin City Limits.
Hi, Jerry and Linda, we are faithful Canadian viewers, however after today’s show we are disappointed with the comments about renters. We are renters usually for a month or more and felt slighted by the grouping of renters in one basket. We have always been as respectful as possible and tried to repect speed limits and things like that.
We were actually in Florida in November and were supposed to be there for 2 months. However the rental unit was so unclean that we had to leave early as the dust and allergens were impacting our health. So renters are not always the issue there are unscrupulous owners out there just trying to make as much as they can.
Keep up the good work just ease up on the renters, not all of us are bad.
Understood, Blanche. We shouldn't make blanket statements about renters. We don't mind long term at all.
@@JERRYANDLINDA thanks for the reply, much appreciated, we will see you when we get there in March!
@@blanchesamson6354 Hi Blanche just curious but firstly sad to read your rental did not work out. We are from Cda and currently renting outside of TV approx 15/20 min away.... so curious how you found your rental ..we found most places way over our budget...and I started to look a year ago..TIA
Renters are fine. They keep our costs down
They clarified about the renters. They’re complaining about ones that rent for less than five days.
Watched your Live Show today and it was so informative and such fun! You both do a great job....makes my Mondays and Thursdays! Thank you!!
Thanks so much, Judith!!
I am officially hooked on this channel and I don’t even live in TV (perhaps some day soon). Thanks so much for what you and Linda do. Great info.
Aww... thank you, Andi!❤❤❤❤❤
Who can explain to me how running a short term rental operation out of your home is NOT a business? Hotels need a business license, homeowners should too.
We really love being Airbnb guests…and we treat The Villages and everything around it including the home like it’s our own. We can’t wait to buy, but can’t afford it yet….but we are very grateful for this opportunity that is still available to us…we feel like family when we’re there and we are just so, so happy to be a part of it all when we’re there…and can’t wait to be true “Villagers!!” But, we’re understanding of the concerns, however I truly think we all are there to enjoy, have fun and be grateful to the Villages family and to you guys as well!!! Rock on…have a blessed weekend!! ❤❤🎉🎉
Well Mia, we know you're good people!🙂🙂
People come to The Villages to be part of a neighborhood. Not a bandb. Rentals should be in 1 area so they are surrounded by other rentals
Agree.
Agree. Not fair to people who want established neighbors.
That’s a good idea for both parties.
If you doing a b and b it doesn’t matter to you as much where you’re located. Kinda surprised TV hasn’t thought about this more. Ive watched alot of HGTV & lot of places have firm rules about rentals.
That was a lovely live afternoon chat. I sent a little something at the end. Dont think you saw it. Have a great weekend and see you mailbag Monday 🥰
We got it!!! Thank you dear friend! ♥♥♥♥♥
@@JERRYANDLINDA 🤗. You are welcome.
Gold Wingnut’s videos are the only other Villages videos besides yours that we watch faithfully. Great show! 🤗
Thank you Debbie! Did I tell you that I mentioned you on our drive through Deluna but lost it due to the microphone problems?
@@JERRYANDLINDA Yes, you did! Thank you! 🤗
Great video, Thanks for all the information from Don, hope you both will have a fantastic weekend
I was ready to watch the episode live today and I set up a reminder on RUclips; however, RUclips didn’t reminded me LOL. Anyway I just wanna say after our life style visit, my husband and I are planning to move to The Villages after retirement so don’t stop growing please 🙏
Love to hear you both always have good information

Hi Jerry and Linda. I played golf with your Minnesota buddy, Mike, today. We had a great time playing Grey Fox. Love your show. Thanks.
Thank you, Daniel!

Thanks for another great show Jerry & Linda! Missed the live but just watched the replay. Great guest today, very interesting info. Keep up the great job. See you next week😘
Glad you enjoyed it Brenda!
Great information. As someone trying to figure out where to buy in the Villages this video was very helpful.
Great informative guest today!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Boy if your cold...just think about the Alaska cruise. We actually went last August and it was perfect...70 degrees and no rain!! Best trip ever!!
Enjoyed your guest Mr Wingnut! Thanks for the great information about hospitals, bridges, and neighborhoods! Wikipedia shows The Villages as 32 square miles. Good to know the latest is 100 square miles.
We missed the live stream yesterday, watched it this morning during breakfast. Thanks Jerry and Linda!
Our pleasure, Mark!
Great show today
Sorry to hear you lost everything in your freezer. I couldn’t join you live as I had a conflict but I enjoyed watching after the fact. Keep up the good work.
I started with the live but had Dr appointment. Watched the next morning. Luv the show!!
Thank you!
Love his drone footage 😮
So sorry about the loss of pecan pie and razzle berry pies....and everything else in the freezer. 😢
You are so right about Walmart, Linda.
After 6 pm is best time to shop. Plus you can find a parking spot. Bonus.
There’s a charging station across Brownwood (corner of 44 and Meggison Road at the UF Health the Villages Hospital👍
I hope it’s not getting too big. My husband and I would like to move there from Michigan! Love your videos.

Great show. A technical miracle.
Made possible by great friends.

Manhattan Island is 22.7 square miles (59 km2) in area, 13.4 miles (21.6 km) long and 2.3 miles (3.7 km) wide, at its widest point, near 14th Street.
New York City has five boroughs, and Manhattan is only one of them. Add in the other four boroughs and you've got a much bigger area.
Internet and cable off today messed up phone too. Watching y’all with dinner 😀
The AirBnb info I found interesting. In our City (Canada) the house owner has to apply for an Airbnb permit to the city and the City only allows so many permits. I take it that the same restrictions dont apply there. On a side note renters/home owners are feeling frusturated with the high fees collected for airbnb fees plus cleaning fees. Aparthotels are becoming more favourable. Enjoyed watching your video even tho its on rerun. Thankyou.
I missed the live, but I am re watching it. First google search lol New York City's land area is approximately 469 square miles, which include 304 square miles of land and 165 square miles of water...xoxo Nancy
Thanks!
Thank you Jim! Once again you have been so nice to us. we appreciate it.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! You bought your home sight unseen. How did that come about? I mean did you just look at a video from the realtor. I don't know if I could buy a house without looking at it. Yall are brave.

I hear you
Hello from panhandle of Florida ❤
We have a night light on an outlet on the garage fridge circuit. If the light isn't lit we know we have a prob with the fridge.
Great idea!
Sorry we missed the live! I guess I have to settle for the recording! Next time!
New york , 472 Square miles.
Manhattan is 22.6 sq miles. New York City however is comprised of 5 Boros with a total of approx 302 sq. miles
The Villages has their own rental company that you can rent from them. I found that out when inquiring about a lifestyle stay and they had no openings so they told me I could rent a home from The Villages. Very interesting.
I love you guys, I would like to meet you when I come down in March. I will be. Looking to buy.
Urban sprawl, eating into the beautiful Florida countryside! The villages needs to build upwards not outwards!
Ever been to Wisconsin, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, etc?
I'm here in The Villages!!
Welcome!
Yes overbuilt overcrowd
Here on Amelia Island Plantation, in Nassau County Florida, our Community Association had a vote on Renters. 82% want renting to be a minimum of 1 year. Hence the CA passed a rule that renting is permitted, but only for 1 year or more. Rents Must be reported to the IRS. frank g.
I’m on your beautiful island currently with my hubby love it My cousins live here this is our second winter
Hi. Your homeowners insurance may cover your freezer loss. Check with them. Great video!
With the nature of insurance these days, I wouldn't dare file a claim unless it was really something devastating.
Clothesline afford association members the use of solar energy to dry their clothes. HOA rules and regulations that outright prevent clotheslines are unenforceable in Florida as it is considered a “right to dry” state. As in the case of other prohibitions, HOAs and COAs are still able to dictate where and how large the clotheslines are allowed to be.
Missed watching live but watched this afternoon. We close on our new house in Dabney in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to get settled.
Congratulations and welcome!
Could hear you loud and clear from the beginning.
Hi Jerry and Linda, I noticed that when you tried calling one of your viewers the call came in as a FaceTime call so when she tried to answer the call dropped and went to voicemail. I don’t know if that’s what happened with the other calls that went to voicemail…Good job on this live chat 👍
Thank you!
Maybe y'all can expand on your comment that this has been "the best 5 years" ever for y'all... It would be interesting to hear y'all's reflection....
NYC is 306 square miles 😊
Hello guys!! I’m currently snowed in (7.5” in West/middle Tennessee at the river) and have found The Villages and you guys since Sunday. I’m trying to convince my hubby that we need to be looking in to The Villages. I’m 50 and he’s 52 (we both have birthdays this year). I’m all in but he’s going to need to come see it. I know we like a few years but hey I can dream! Question we have honey bees would there be a village honey bee friendly? Also, I’m a nurse currently working in a chemo infusion facility. If we located there early I would want to work for healthcare insurance and cost of living. Is there any of those infusion facilities close? You two are great and it makes me smile to see how happy y’all are! ❤😊
Yes, you could find a job. As for the bees, hives would not meet ARC guidelines. You could apply and ask, but we doubt it. Many folks your age live here.
On Too of the world you can only rent through their rental agency and for 6 months only or that’s what we were told I don’t think it’s the growth of the villages but the massive building outside the villages Linda manufactured homes gave to be up to code actually have stricter codes than regular building do they have to meet hurricane standards
Hello
BTW Jerry and Linda, have you ever given a tour of your home? You mention all the time how much you love it.
Not yet!
Would love to be down there in a few years but it sounds like the car/home insurance is driving people out of Florida
The homeowners insurance is ridiculous!!! Too many fraudulent claims, way too many lawsuits, etc
Linda, it's another OMG moment - I'm beginning to think that we share the same mind. I've got that same dress I'm seeing you in plus many other times, I've seen you in outfits with the same prints that I like, etc. We are the same height, so perhaps we are long lost twins. You do have much nicer hair than me thought LOL. I really do hope we can meet one day, when I GET THERE.
Love it, you fun girl!
Hi Guys! Cold and snowing in MD. FYI, video quality today (Thursday) was hazy. Jerry - Feb 4th, last season for Curb 😕.
Great show. Sometimes I feel like Larry.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Enjoy you guys! Hit ‘em straight Jerry.

NYC is 469 square miles, 304 square miles of land and 165 square miles of water
I'm pretty sure that's what I said! 😉
NYC is 302 square miles. Manhattan is 22.8 square miles
Well the title should be-Are the Villages getting too large?
The Villages is singular.
Might wanna wipe your lens. It’s kinda foggy on our end.
Maybe you can get Culver’s to sponsor you. 😊
Good idea!
Now yer talking!
We were set to purchase in TV but we changed course after seeing the exorbitant number of short term rentals there. Don is mistaken, you can regulate the super short rentals in the CC & R’s. With that said, TV is awesome.
You guys are so "normal"! The world needs more normal people! I think your show should be required viewing for elementary school children. :) I'd rather have my kids watching Jerry and Linda than Tik-Tokking their lives away! Who cares if they're 45 years away from The Villages' demographics. Never too young to start recruiting! Keep being normal! And keep up the great work!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Jerry, why do you have such negative feelings towards renters? It's not like they are a bunch of college students coming for spring break.
I think everything has its place. Just trying to tell the truth. All the renters we have met are nice, but in general, having short term renters certainly doesn't improve a neighborhood.
Many incorporated cities have rental time limits on personally owned properties - Im not sure with the govt set-up like the Villages has (CDD’s), if rentals could have limits or not. Perhaps Don Wiley would have an insight on this?
Regarding the problems with rentals (Airbnb, Vrbo, VillagersHomes4Rent, etc.), a few ideas come to mind - not sure if any of them could be implemented/enforced by The Villages.
1. Set the minimum stay at 3 months. This would allow snowbirds to continue visiting as they have been, while simultaneously weeding out the 1 week(end) party animals. Exceptions could be made for those who have already maxed out their lifestyle visits, but are still seriously and imminently looking to purchase a home (they would have to provide proof of funds/pre-approval from their bank, and go out house hunting with a VLS and/or MLS agent). All others could stay at one of the 2 excellent hotels.
2. Make it so that at least 1 of the people renting the home must be 55+. There are ways around this of course ("Grandpa, can you rent us a house in The Villages for prom?"), but this would also greatly cut down on problems.
3. Allow rentals in just 1 area within each Village.
Excellent ideas.
The Villages company has partnered with Benderson Development to acquire the 3,400-acre Monarch Ranch industrial site in Sumter County for $40 million, according to Avison Young Capital Markets - I just read this yesterday, January 17th. Wowsers. Looks like all wetlands.
@Cynthiaamitrano8915
Wow - You really keep up with the behind the scenes Villages real estate purchases/ holdings…
Where do you find the info?
Thanks :)
It would be nice to see your grandkids satirize you both.
I LOVE your show but the lives are a lot of name listing. Not very fun for everyone except the person you are mentioning.
So sorry Denice! We just appreciate everyone taking the time. We know you are a tip top viewer.
How much is the average home in your neighborhood. Thanks
We'd say 500K - $600K
Hello...how are you?
i saw a commenter say he or she was from Korea.
Fantastic!
Since the villages is growing you have to add one hour to the video. Really haha. You are competing with Jimmy Fallon.
Where else can we move to forget about our kids and grandkids and spend their inheritance on HOA fees?
We sense a very sarcastic person. I'll bet those kids and grandkids really appreciate that.
@@JERRYANDLINDA I'm far too young for that.

All of New York City is 300.6 square miles. And PLEASE, PLEASE don't refer to New Jersey as Joisey. It's very offensive to New Jersey natives.
the greatest disadvantage in your video is that you do not roam around and do your videos. Your videos are home based. Both of you talk well, but confined in one room. Come out guys. Now it is time to tell us what you and other villagers do from morning till going to bed . tell us everything about you and others you know that live in the village, about their daily routine. Say things that can make us excited to go there permanently. I truly mean it, no jokes.
That's what a Lifestyle Preview is for. You can look through our 538 videos and find many where we venture out. No joke.
This show is about a 6.
Maybe next time. Get a phone just for phone call ins.........post the number and just answer the phone and talk to whoever is calling you.
