I'm a owner operator with my own authority who only have a 26ft box truck doing partial loads off the load board and I take 8 to 10 hour drives paying between 8 00 to 1200 one way and once I arrive in that city 9 times out of 10 I've already arranged a load within 150 miles to pick up headed to another State.Sometimes I'm blessed enough to have 2 partial loads going to the same City making 2000 plus off one 8 to 10 hour trip. The loads on the board for flat bed trucks is unbelievable!2500 after gas is a bad week for me with a box truck so I know this shit is real

BOTTOM LINE,no money in van unless u have ur OWN TRUCK AND TRAILER,FLATBED ALSO,LEASE PURCHASE CAN BE BENEFICIAL IF U SAVE YOUR MONEY FAST GET OUT TO GET YOUR OWN TRUCK.5K DOWN WILL GET ALMOST ANYONE IN A TRUCK OF THEIR OWN.A L/P u are basically PAYING THEM to run the truck.IF U REALLY WANNA MAKE 10K PLUS A MONTH.....TANKER IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO,HANDS DOWN!! CO. DRIVERS MAKE 1K PLUS A WEEK MINIMUM,HOME DAILY,O/O ARE MOSTLY PAID BI-WEEKLY IN THE TANKER BUSINESS (asphalt too)THAT'S HOW THEY MAKE MINIMUM 5K EVERY 2 WEEKS,IF U BUST YOUR ASS AND RUN,I'VE SEEN GUYS MAKE 7K IN 2 WEEKS....SEEEN IT,BECAUSE I'M ONE TOO,I JUST DON'T RUN AS HARD AS SOME GUYS DO,I'M VERY COMFORTABLE......VERY!!! I get up at 2am DAILY,and im home before school is out, sometimes earlier. And most of the time, all i hv to do is DRIVE! Alota my stops, they load, and when i deliver....THEY UNLOAD too!! 35 minutes to load my truck, about 35-40 to unload, unless in doin a ROAD JOB,then i sit and let a smaller asphalt truck pull from mine, spray the road with it.This basically takes '3 pulls'/2-4 hrs.But start times are VERY early....still @ home WAY B4 rush hr.THIS IS COMING FROM 'THE HORSE' PEOPLE!!!! STOP SHITTING ON PEOPLE'S OPINIONS IF U HAVENT DONE IT YOURSELF!!! NOW,GET'CHA TANKER AND HAZMAT ENDORSEMENTS,AND WATCH YOUR ACCOUNT/ESCROW GROW! YALL STOP BEING SO DAMN MEAN AND HATEFUL,THAT'S A LOT A THE PROBLEM TODAY!!! FUCKIN TV AND RADIO HAD A LOT A PEOPLE'S HEADS MESSED UP!!!! WE ARE ALL EQUAL....ONE RACE!!! LOOK 4 YOURSELF,USE YOUR SMART PHONES AND FIND TRUTH ABOUT THE THINGS U HATE,OR DON'T LIKE 4 WHATEVERTHEFUCKINREASON.....IN OTHER WORDS....WAKE UP!!! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US,UNLESS U ARE IN THE 'CLUB'. PEACE!!!!

WOW this is definitely a sign lol I got my own company 7 months old just me and my dad for now 2 trucks 2 trailer dry vans paid off I been thinking about getting a tanker and tanker endorsements and add hazmat to my license, I know the rates are gold compared to most of dry van loads, past 4 days things involving tankers been coming up in convos and random things during my day, yesterday one of my friends I haven't seen in a while and we get to talking his brother owns 4 gas stations in my city and he looking into doing the same thing as his brother, his brother told me 10 miles away from our city there's a company that fills the tankers up he said he pays $500 for a fuel delivery, and I got to thinking the total miles at the end of the day probably not even 100 if I make 4 deliveries $2,000 in my pocket not including the fuel il use for the day and % for my factoring, which is not shit, there is a gas station on every corner in fort wayne, in definitely going to look into buying a tanker especially with the ElOG $2,000-3,000 a day driving in my city minimum 100 miles a day that's a OP dream if you ask me, still need to see how much insurance and maintenance and such will come out to hopefully not much,
    Great video

Great information. Thank you. I have a few questions. Do I need to have some sort of license for a trucking business if I only plan to be owner of the fleet and not a driver.?Do I need to have someone with a CDL listed as a member of of my company to be in compliance? Do I need to create an operator agreement? What if I did not want to limit my company to only trucking? and how does insurance work when it comes to getting the truck off the lot when it comes to deciding rates? Will they go off my credit or will I need to have drivers set up to show proof of license and DMV record?

I don't know why people are so doubtful of what he makes a week. There are many truckers making 6 figures a year because they've done the necessary research into what pays and what doesn't. I know of a dominoes pizza truck driver who makes 110000 a year driving regionally. There's plenty of money to be made in this industry. Unfortunately, people settle for less and become content and become oblivious to the fact there are better opportunities out there. Biggest problem for many is that they don't research. On their down time rather than learning of ways to increase their earnings in the trucking industry they'd rather waste time entertaining themselves. Then have the nerve to doubt someone that's doing his due diligence smh.

MHC Truck Leasing has a program that will cut your maintenance cost down. It's called "Target Maintenance" or "Contract Maintenance". It locks you in a huge labor rate discount Nation Wide (around $114/hour). It also gives you access to a 24/7 road side assist line, discounts all parts and tire purchases by 35-45%. Anyone looking to save money on Truck and Trailer Maintenence should call their local MHC Truck Leasing and ask about it.

As for the doubters or the ones that think $1500-2500 a week is no 💰💰...they may want to check that at the door. There are people working 2 jobs in some states not making that so when they talk just keep it moving. Fyi you can get killed at any job or on the way to or from any job you have get real. Many are unemployed getting by on peanuts.

A true owner operator knows his CPM and based on that figure can determine a net worth on all contracts he enters concerning the movement of freight. When I was an owner operator back in the day most drivers didn't understand CPM. A few understand it today.

      @404goldenchild  5 лет назад

Thank you for watching and that is a great question. I don’t know what the future of trucking will be like but I know we will see some changes. I think autonomous trucks will not take over the whole logistical process. I anticipate that eventually that it will gradually increase once they work out the kinks. Think about how far Apple technology came over the past 20 years.. I don’t think we are out of a job yet but pay close attention on this innovation. Great question 👍🏽

For all of you saying it's impossible to make 2500 a week in trucking. It's not impossible but you have to keep your license clean and have some years under your belt. And it's usually not in general FRIEGHT (Dry box, refer, ect) unless you own your equipment and don't lease and you find your own loads. Start with a broker then just talk about a contract with everyone you pickup and deliver too yes it morally objectionable but it's your life and your business make the best of it. Tanks in general always pay better unless your with a major company. Note find the company that doesn't have the newest equipment and keeps their overhead low they generally pay the best if your a company type and in company not for hires usually pay better. You have to look but they are out there.

There is an upside and downside to every aspect of trucking. I've done just about every aspect of it. Dry Van, Reefer, Tank, Intermodal, Flatbed, heavy haul, dump. I never hauled cars or medium duty trucks...I looked into it...I said "NO THANKS!!!", way to much finesse to loading and unloading, climbing in and out.
Tank work is good for exactly what this guy described, you go out and back, out and back...very little hunting for a load to bring you back. There are some downside to tanking...driving with surge sucks. Definitely not for rookie-level. Sudden move or hard brake, you better leave some room, that load is going to push you around. Even just running down the road, open bore tank, the load will remind you it's still there...always sloshing! :-0
Sometimes the hours of operation are bizarre, run all hours day and night. You do have to have extra equipment you don't find standard on most trucks for off-loading, PTO, air pumps.
It has some dangers, chemicals, odors, wait time to start loading/unloading can be LONG...you can't control...you get to the shipper, the product isn't ready to load. You get to the destination, there is a line of trucks in front or, there is not enough room for you to unload. You'll get detention, after 2 hours, but, it is generally far less $ per hour than what you make running down the road, and, puts you behind on your schedule, you end up driving tired!
This guy is EXACTLY right on the smaller companies. There are some real good ones out there. The big ones, your just a number, they don't respect or give a damn about you, the individual. I ran for Carry Transit and 3 or 4 other smaller, private companies...small guys rocked.
Flatbed is pretty good, but throwing tarps SUCKS!!! Dry freight and reefer ALWAYS around, but, a lot of time in the dock and, God-help you if you are doing loads for big retail like Walmart...they are the WORST for getting in and out.
Dump work was good, home nightly but, seasonal work and headache deal with Teamsters.
The one thing I can say is TERRIBLE is Intermodal. The WORST trucking, rattiest trucks, tons of time lost in rail yards. ELD will kill the intermodal bizz. At least what I have seen doing it in Chicago, can't make money doing intermodal there. Can't make money running cross-town freight in a big city like Chicago. Maybe if you are taking further away, longer runs. I never got into doing that.
Find what you like, do it well!

Good credit always pays off, if you can't manage to have good credit then you can't manage to be your own boss. $2,500 a week as a owner operator isn't great money at all after paying for fuel and all, you also have to consider paying taxes on the $2,500, that's about $600 then you have to get medical insurance, therefore $2,500 a week isn't as great as you think. One thing he forgot to mention is that as a owner operator you should Incorporate your business a hire a payroll company to pay you as a employee, that way you gross less as a individual and have more write offs. I do line haul as a company driver, 5 days a week, home every day and I gross over $100,000 a year with benifits and all, line haul is where is at in trucking for me as a company driver. If you want to do tanker as a company driver Love's pays really good too, with good benifits and all and you are home every day is some csses.
