Yeah, and Captain America's shield is also canonically disproportionately light because of its material in movies. Vibranium is approximately 1/3 the weight of steel. Based on the weight of the shield in this video, it'd only be a measly 1 kg. This would make the frisbee air foil effect much more apparent.

Real quick on the Hawkeye/Vibranium bit. Hawkeye would probably have used a glue or a net arrow which wouldn't rely on a kinetic impact to deliver the effect. He'd probably also set it to a distance burst, then use the glue or netting to get BEHIND Cap and then consider a kinetic impact effect. We did see that Spidey could web the shield out of play for a bit, so it's not unreasonable that a Web/Glue would be the opener choice for Hawkeye as well.

  • @Belnick6666
    @Belnick6666 8 месяцев назад +1

the Vibranium in the shield make it absorb kinetic energy, but would also make it a into a wet blanket if thrown on a wall as it would absorb the impact and just drop, but the shield is made of Adamantium AND Vibranium, the Adamantium make it possible for the shield to bounce. It being made of both those material makes it pretty much indestructible. Only a real god level being like the Celestials, the Beyonder, The Living Tribunal, Sentry, Owen Reece etc who could separate the atoms of the shield and just "unmake" it can destroy it.
and no, adamantium can not be reheated and then cut off like in that silly movie

I only would use it on an enemy that either was running away, or towards me, if I had something else to use, so not defense less if I am attacked.
As I am a bit lame, one of my my feet not working as it shuld (spine nerve damage), people can pretty easily run away from me.
So I can imagine old, or hurt warrior, be it viking or other type using it in a pinch.

Something funny about "vibranium" is that much like many other concepts once considered "science fiction" and "defies the laws of physics", humanity has once again accidentally invented something that highly relates to the science fictional object in question, lol. And by that I mean NASA's recently been mucking around with a titanium-nickel aloy that's... well quite frankly springy and bouncy while also nigh indestructable. It matches the mythical properties of ye olde comic book "vibranium" in so many ways that it completely reshapes our realm of posibilities just simply by itself. And my brain quivers to think what such a material could do if it were forged into a thick, dense, shield... definitely not redirect Thor's lightning but still definitely accomplish some cool feats, lol

The French lost one damn war and everyone forgets about a thousand plus years of European military domination.
What does that say about America when we couldn’t even beat a bunch of sandal clad Vietnamese rice farmers and Afghan goat herders?!

I liked the Soldier Boy version of the shield that was just a massive thick af heavy af piece of armor plate that he could only handle so easily because of his super strength.

When they introduced it in the movie, Tony’s dad said it “Stronger than steel, and only 1/3 of the weight” that combined with his super strength makes this pretty viable

Fun fact: Captain America's original shield design was the heater type. You can see it in the famous cover where he punches Hitler.

Another fun fact, even in the movies the original was a heater. It was the shield he used in his USO performances and for his initial rescue of Bucky from the Hydra base. Only after that did he get the more iconic round vibranium shield.

You should have tried turning the heater shield so the inside is up. If throwing it the other way created a down force other way, it might create an up force, probably not enough to keep it level, but enough to give you some range.

Honestly, I think you'd be more accurate, and have WAY more power, if you threw the shields overhand.
Kind of like an overhand dagger throw.

  • @Azerinth

I think the heater shield did better than expected because it allowed the hands to be placed easier. those round shields looked very cumbersome to try and throw which limited rotation. The heater shield spun much better, providing greater stability in flight.
