Part of the magic of Diablo 2 (and by extension, D2R) was that there was no laser disco light show overlayed on top of everything turning the screen into a chaotic, unintelligible mess. No damage proc number popups, no glowing shader spell effects or gaudy elemental crystals popping up all over the screen superimposed over characters. Just simple, subtle visual queues like a character/enemy turning blue to show they're frozen, or green to show they're poisoned, with spells and skills whose visual effects blended seamlessly right in with the rest of the graphical foreground and background. Not one second in that whole game did you ever have to struggle to process what was happening on screen. Made it very pleasant and carefree to play for thousands upon thousands of hours.

Barb needs more oomph behind all his hits for sure, but more than that he needs to be better at tanking hits so he can land his own, or avoiding hits so he can land his own.
Sorc Elite and Boss battling is a joke. Elites and Bosses have so much elemental resistance the
Sorcs attacks become tickles. And let's not even talk about the Sorcs abysmal damage negation. If Bosses and Elites are gonna have such high elemental damage resistance, then the Sorcs spells need to do more things.
Frost spells auto chill instead of a build up. Chilled enemies take 5% more damage. 5% increased crit chance on Burning enemies. Lightning spells always Stun enemies and enhance player speed on a 10 second cooldown. Etc. Also, barrier generation with mana spells.
Enemies: 20% overall reduced damage
Sorc and Necro: 5% overall damage negation
Rogue: 10% overall damage negation
Druid: 15% overall damage negation
Barb: 20% overall damage negation
My issue is just that things feel slow, sloggy, unresponsive. I'm repeating playing fetch all the time on a sloggy feeling game.
You better talk about the monetization. If not you guys can safely ignore this review. If he does I’ll delete this comment.
The lack of Linux support really bugs me, same with them cutting support for linux on D3.
The new font looks waaayyyy better and fits perfectly to the atmosphere. The old Sans Serif font was so off.
They skipped over the big question: how much will the monetization ruin the game?
what do you think lol 💰💰💰
What a shame people will eat this up. Stop supporting companies like blizzard if you want the gaming industry to stop being the way it is
Diablo "Veteran" sounds like he is talking about Diablo for the first time.
Seems hella repetitive, idk gaming formula for PS2 games.. just upgraded graphics and put it on ps5 lol idk how to get into this side scrolling button mashing thing
No offline. As a traveling healthcare worker, they already lost me.
Sadly I’ll be waiting till they release monk and/or Paladin. Holy classes totally being unrepresented here and it kills me. Regardless, truly enjoyed the server slam and look forward to hitting platinum on some games before we see DLC for Diablo 4.
£70+ for a game that demands an additional cost of a PS Plus subscription for playing solo, Blizzard can go do one
Diablo 4: Proof that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel to make a solid game
You forgot to mention its 28 dollars for a single skin in the in-game store...
who tf cares about skins??? youre legit trolling lol
@@honzaranda7842 They should be in the game not the cash shop. Most people care, but you crack on and lap it up
@@Moistrazmataz Oh well buddy. This isn’t surprising. Every single game does it. Is it ideal? No. Is it lame? Yeah. But whining on the internet about cosmetics costing $28 is not the move. Just get use to it. It’s been a trend for all Triple A games for like 5 years. We can all cry about it with you. But regardless, I’m probably gonna buy a skin and most likely be happy with my purchase too.
Then don't buy them?
@@honzaranda7842 if nobody would care then it would not be in the store at the first place :)
Genius
For a day one release, it looks like a very solid package. Very exciting stuff.
How do you not address monetization when discussing a blizzard game post diablo immortal?!?
They go overboard on the fireworks. It got a bit crazy towards the end of Diablo 3
Wow, sounds like they added a lot of awesome features. Very excited.
Me too. Can't wait for the game to be released
@@LTV249 Early beta ain't looking too hot ngl
They removed offline play for no reason how are you going to have it in Diablo 2 but not 4 are they trying to make the game worse and worse?
Amazing game. The Druid is a really fun class!
Can confirm the build system is very well thought out and fun! Started as Rogue, went bow first and that was fun but then swapped to a dual wield dagger build and that was even more fun cuz of the insane mobility and trickery lol. It's spicy cuz ur squishy asf but you do insane burst dmg to clear before they hit
tell me more
No it is not lol you literally can only have 5 abilities at a time
No mention of the store or the battle pass……
Every test channel saying they spent 80 hours to complete the game makes me think they Just asked the developers how long it takes to complete the game. 😉
Confirmed, this is going to be dogshit. Thanks IGN!
'Near perfect endgame' LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
$70 price tag, and all the other questionable design choices, bugs, and repetitive randomized dungeon bosses, I'd say 7/8. The way this reviewer acts sometimes seems like he has never played other ARPGS. He called something innovative or NEVER before seen, when cheaper/f2p ARPGS that are much older has already done those things lol. Don't get me wrong D4 isn't bad. But 9 is pushing it. Also the game can either get better, or they will ruin it like they have been doing with Overwatch and WoW classic. Blizzards/Actisisions greed knows no end. Activision has even made COD p2w and is pissing off all their consumers.
For me the real issue is that it is Online Only! Don't know what the hell they were thinking 🤔?! If they had an offline campaign they would have had My money. But they didn't do that so they don't have my money...
blizzard cashed out for this review lol
True
Lol. Lmao. 9/10? Are you sure about that?
Alien Isolation 5.9/10.......Goat Simulator 8.0/10...........I'm amazed how this page still has subscribers/
@nicolashrv don't get me started on days gone
Starfield 7/10, this microtransaction hell 9/10....you kidding me?
"Extensive build options, stellar graphics, the most impressive in the genre " - Tell me you never played Wolcen, without telling me...
Otherwise: The best Diablo for people never having played Diablo before and therefore not noticing what's missing in the detail. Starting with the font.
Opening cutscene sold the game to me. Diablo cutscenes never fail to push the graphics to new levels
Lmao
You didn't mention sleazy monetization. This is a Blizzard game, after all.
Man I'm so glad to see this. Diablo 3 was a lot of fun. Was really hoping this one would be a step up. Can't wait to play.
You really trust ign about any game review? 💀
@@thebob4988 why are you even on the video if you don't trust it?
How was Diablo 3 fun? It was a piece of shite.
@@WinrichNaujoks some people enjoy things for what they are instead of crying about everything not being perfect.
@@WinrichNaujoksi bet you never even played diablo games. Go to bed kid
Blizzard is busy competing rather than Innovating, and it shows. Dont get us wrong Competition is a key driver of innovation, but Blizzard has rested on ther laurels for way too long. They can keep chasing the monetization route but eventually their competitors will innovate and leave them behind.
Some things do not require innovation. Why would you not simply perfect all the elements first? They innovated for D3 a lot, and that game had some big mistakes.
I'd like you guys to do a review of the current oldest running online MMORPG in existence, a game called Gemstone IV. To my knowledge, it also sports one of the oldest in game digital economies of the internet today. Based on it's in game currency, Elanthian Silver, which is universally accepted throughout the game's environment. It's an award winning text based MMORPG that's definitely worth all of it's weight in Gold. It deserves it's respect for having lasted for as long as it has.
If you guys could. Thanks.
Diablo IV has achieved the unachievable;
It's made Diablo 2 fans slightly less whingy about it
Diablo Immortal was my first taste of this franchise and it left a bittersweet aftertaste..so I’m really really hoping this wouldn’t turn into a heavy mtx game like how it is in DI. I’m so excited
you should really play the older diablo games. they're art
