same here bro.. just lost a sparring fight in front of the whole class yesterday because I got stuck in a really heavy side control... guy's JJ isn't better than mine but he is really strong and a good MMA side controler. Cant wait to try this! Great channel!:)
I’m a new white belt and had my 4th class and 3rd sparring session last night, I pulled this off on a four stripe white belt and tapped him with the darce. Pretty happy, only the second submission I’ve pulled off so far :). Thanks Brian
I don't train but I pulled this off too. My wife was not happy with me at all. She didn't appreciate being woken up at 12 am but I put her right back too sleep with the dart choke. I'm ready for the big leagues. Thanks Brian!
I AM Brazilian and practice luta livre since de 80's. We almost know this tecnics. But I have to say we admire your job, your tecnique and the Way you explain de details. Congratulations to all brorhers in EUA, and to you. Osssssss!
I am an older purple belt and I've always had a hard time getting out of bottom side control using classic jiu jitsu techniques. After watching your ghost/phantom escape videos and rehearsing it in my head for a week, I'm happy to report that I was able to pull it off on all of my training partners last night. Not only that, I was also able to hit the wedding sweep on two of them. Your channel is a game changer. I had a huge smile on my face driving home from training last night. Thank you 🙏
More people should teach like this. I applied your concepts in class tonight after watching just once and was able to give people fits when they started sparring from side control. The detail about preventing the door stop is money.
This is absolute fire. Side control escape and attacks from bottom have always been an important part of my game but this will take it to another level. Game changer.
Been using the ghost escape to darce or front headlock come up since 2009. It's my #1 side control escape and it has been for years and years. This has been a hardcore area of focus for me and I still saw some gems in here I've never seen anywhere before. Your video just showed up as a suggestion in my feed. Super like and you got a new subscriber for sure. Awesome content brother.
Thanks a lot Brother! It’s a culmination of 25 years of grappling for me. I learned it in 1996 and it’s been a killer weapon for me starting just a few years ago. The reps add up and now there is so much feel. Thank you!
Ahhh cool fellow Rear bandits haha. I find the Darce finish risk-kay. Ive gotten it on people on higher levels than me, and tons of lower belts, but often guys can posture or jump over. No im trying to master getting to the front headlock and then work anaconda/darce/farmaconda/arm in guillotine or back take. Have you any pointers Andre??? Also thank you TeachMeGrappling
Theres only ONE CREATOR MOST HIGH GOD/YAHUAH/YAHUSHUA the rest you worship were His creation. Being trendy and parroting the programming reveals allot about your dumbed down ass. It's DUMMY UUUUP time now minions!!!
What we need is a demonstration like this for all the positions. "Unstoppable" escapes from mount, guard, triangle, armbar, guillotine etc. This would get you a huge following.
I dont usually post comments on youtube but I just came back here to thank you for this video, this escape was a game changer for me, that I have been giving my sparring partners easy access to pass and get side control so I can pull this off and finish them.. much respect to you prof 🤙
I’ve been using this escape for years and it’s effective. Your details of controlling the outside arm to increase the potential for the finish were awesome. Thanks for the video new subscriber for sure.
This is fantastic! Love this move, most people have never seen it and still can't figure out how to stop it! Even if you miss the darce at the end, you can still get half guard or full mount if they are too focused on their neck.
Hey Coach I tried it over the last two weeks at my school and it's worked!!! I plan to share it with my students! Truly you're the real deal and a tactical Wizard!! Coach AL
I know this is an older video and so my comment will probably never be read but I just wanted to say thank you. Every week when I go to roll at open mat I execute my game and almost always as I roll with different guys and higher belts I get to point where I just get stuck and I don’t know any techniques to get out. My go to is your channel to find solutions . This has been one of those “go tos” for me. And there’s many more I learned from your channel. Thanks for making this difficult journey a little easier on this grappler.
Been doing Ju Jitsu for years and I've learned more in the last 2 years watching videos and putting it to work than I have just practicing.....Lotta different techniques in Jitsu. Love the Videos especially the Cow Crank and this one. Good form and understanding and explaination Thanks for that.
Umm did i just find a "why haven't i thought or heard about this idea before!" Im always in this situation and use the first half of this! But the darce at the end! Thank you for a ascamission move! Ascape & submission move!! Awsome!!!
I've been using this and now I know the name and is a real move thanks so much. The additional options gives it so much more strength in the arsenal. Great job!
Coach Brian seems like a great well rounded coach. Wrestling, bjj, etc. I've tried to visit his place in Valencia, but haven't quite made it over there yet. Great videos!
Coach Brian Thank you for your work definitely you are a bjj and wrestling genius!! Sense i watch your videos my bjj technique progresses most than never. I am a purple belt but none professor witch i have trainer before can explain technique like you.
iv used the first escape part for years an been pretty successful with it but just yesterday i encountered someone who i just couldnt pop my head out enough, i cannot wait to try these extra tips next session! superb video
Man can't thank you enough for this video. I'm gonna have to check it a few more times though, to catch all the details in here. I'm a small guy and a white belt so naturally I end up on the bottom of side control all the time...I've learned some escapes and guard retention, but this going right into offence is priceless. Can't wait for tomorrow's class to try it out! Thanks!
Coach Brian, I rolled tonight with 4 different people and hit this move that last twice each roll. I even purposely gave them side control to work on this technique. Worked like a charm!
Have had this done to me over the years and from experience ive learned just to always keep that bottom arm trapped above my thigh. In my opinion this will only really work against inexperienced fighters but its good things to know of and explore! If he does pop or releases pressure from side control this is very effective!
YES! The first time I've heard you acknowledge the Adam Sandler resemblance! But I will say you look like a younger, more in shape version of him! Thanks for all the great content!
This is an awesome technique that actually works, is very intuitive without much thinking. I literally watched this video. Got on the mats and without thinking executed this on first attempt. Loved it so much by how easy it was I tried it again and again it worked. I almost wanted to stop so the guys wouldn't catch on lol. Love the combo. Gotta try it next. Thank you for this excellent video technique
Thank you. I'm so thankful for you putting these videos up for everyone to see. You have definitely improved my game. I would like you to sing the sloppy joe lunch lady song.
Thank you sir, you're a gentleman and a scholar for this one. This will be used against annoying really heavy "shoulder of justice" guy soon and often :)
It's so important to go back and re-learn a technique over and over again. I had a good deal of luck with this at first and then not as much. It turns out I was forgetting to put my bicep into the guy's temple in order to make space.
nice demo I;ve been teaching this to my blue belts for the past 10 years. if you want to advice that some, the first thing you do when in 1/2 guard is go on your inside hip facing your the guy on top immediately, you should never be flat on your back in 1/2 guard, then using your bottom leg hook his outside leg then your 50/50, from there is all yours , but again, nice demo
I see so much bjj content all over RUclips. This is some particularity good instruction and details. This channel is a must-subscribe for anyone who trains. This along with Jonathon Thomas are my go to for good tips
Great tutorial, I to have noticed a lot of BJJ guys not controlling the arm. When your training for MMA my guys learn they need to control the arm real quick
I trained with Brian couple times many years go,....Brian great video really showing understanding of bio-mechanics and spatial relationships. Lol, in like 2015 a guy asked me all gaga about this awesome new ghost escape....I'm like, you mean a nearside underhook escape? lol
Such a fun escape -- leaves em wondering wtf just happened! Love the Darce afterwards; will give that a shot. One thing, if you don't block them sufficiently with your right arm, they can spin to an opposite-side armbar.
Yes when you do this right, you counter the far side armbar... if you screw it up the most important details... well many things can go wrong. Thanks for watching!
The ghost is one of my favorite escapes. The problem with it though is that a more experienced opponent or a big guy with a belly (lol) will make it difficult. A good opponent will feel that hand come through and switch their hips and pin that hand and control it in a kesa gatame. Your counter to that is pure gold.
I've recently discovered ole Coach Brian, and I can say that I've never enjoyed watching BJJ video's as much as I enjoy his videos! I've been a BJJ guy since 96, and this guy has such a knack that he has something for old farts who've been doing this for a minute. Well worth the time! First time I've ever considered doing a Patreon thing!
I really appreciate you showing the counters and how you deal with each of them. This is A+
This is a tad to advance for me but maybe better for a blue plus level
I’m a 2 stripe white, did the ghost on a solid blue belt and I think he almost shit in his Gi. It’s very effective, I love it.
Only one question, how many world titles does he have or what big tournaments have he won
@@curtiscunningham134 Two question, who cares
ZTG on gawd😂
Sure you did. Cool story bro!
Nice. That you applied the 💡 thinkoitsixe thebox
Getting crushed in side control is absolutely the weak spot in my game. This is really good stuff. Excited to try it out! Keep up the good work!
same here bro.. just lost a sparring fight in front of the whole class yesterday because I got stuck in a really heavy side control... guy's JJ isn't better than mine but he is really strong and a good MMA side controler. Cant wait to try this! Great channel!:)
Mounts my issue. I would rather be in side control.
I was gonna say focus on guard retention… but this comment is 4 years old so you are probably a black belt
I’m a new white belt and had my 4th class and 3rd sparring session last night, I pulled this off on a four stripe white belt and tapped him with the darce. Pretty happy, only the second submission I’ve pulled off so far :). Thanks Brian
Hell yeah!
I don't train but I pulled this off too. My wife was not happy with me at all. She didn't appreciate being woken up at 12 am but I put her right back too sleep with the dart choke. I'm ready for the big leagues. Thanks Brian!
Sorry man, any good player is going to collect your shit and arm bar you with it If you try this escape. Learn the fundamentals first
rolling, not sparring... sparring is stand up term.
Since this comment was 7 months ago I'm just wondering how is your jiu-jitsu journey coming?
I AM Brazilian and practice luta livre since de 80's. We almost know this tecnics. But I have to say we admire your job, your tecnique and the Way you explain de details. Congratulations to all brorhers in EUA, and to you. Osssssss!
I've been using this escape as a last resort for years. I've never seen it broken down like this. excellent instructional. thank you!
I am an older purple belt and I've always had a hard time getting out of bottom side control using classic jiu jitsu techniques. After watching your ghost/phantom escape videos and rehearsing it in my head for a week, I'm happy to report that I was able to pull it off on all of my training partners last night. This is absolutely the most detailed explanation of this technique on RUclips. 10/10 well done.

Stumbled upon this gem of a channel. Praise the gods I found it. So informative and no bs. Helps me tremendously in my mma journey.

Luke Richard I thought the same when I did. Really comprehensive explanations.

TeachMeGrappling Coach Brian That's awesome! Thank you for the reply.
He was being generous with that cross face. It is a good move and does work. Thanks for sharing.
Best side control escape video out there. I tried it during live sparring and it worked. Both the escape and the sweep work. Thank you so much.
omg you have no idea how much this is going to help me as a new guy who ends up here all the time.
Amazing escape video....love how u just cling and dont let go as he gets up...

This is one of the most genius grappling breakdowns I’ve ever seen. Is this guy a world champion?
Thank You Coach for such a wonderfull knowledge. Cheers from Poland

Easily the best and most detailed instructionals on youtube. Thank you so much.
I liked how you demonstrated the movement and the meaning behind why you did what you did. Learned alot.
Love the ghost escape! Thanks for polishing out a lot of details to counters. Great stuff!

Come by when you can!! Always welcome!
Awesome. Makes so much sense. I tried yesterday and it worked beautifully. My partner was surprised. Thanks so much.
this has actually made escaping side control so much easier
Thanks for this amazing video, love how you cover all types of counters and continuations.
54 yo 2 stripe white belt checking in 😅. Having trouble escaping side control. Gonna drill this 🤩.. it’s BJJ sorcery for sure ❤. Many Thanks!
Beautiful technique, I love it. Thanks a lot.
Coach Brian

Been using this in both no-gi and yes-gi and it’s working great!
Bad ass move!!!! I used it and it works like magic. I will drill em 1000 times. Keep the videos coming bro

In my opinion this will only really work against inexperienced fighters but its good things to know of and explore! If he does pop or releases pressure from side control this is very effective!
A great summary starts at 2:20
I try to do reps of various moves every day, so I hope others find my time stamps useful.
Yes thank you!
Great position, great teacher.

Jaw dropping info. Gonna have to watch this many many times.
Im a purple belt and have started using this with great effect. Thank you very much.
Thank you sir, you're a gentleman and a scholar for this one. This will be used against annoying really heavy "shoulder of justice" guy soon and often :)
Go get em!! It may be hard until you develop but don’t give up!
Idk what I love more .. the move or when you get mad at the person helping 😂
It's so important to go back and re-learn a technique over and over again. I had a good deal of luck with this at first and then not as much. It turns out I was forgetting to put my bicep into the guy's temple in order to make space.
Hands-down best grappling coach on youtube!
I can't wait to try this and leave our a bunch of details that are necessary to make it work or try it when he's in the wrong kind of side-control
U sir are wonderful. Thank you
Respect! you really know how to explain it to people in a nice to watch and understand way
You make it look easy. Can't wait to try this.
It gets easier and easier the more you practice! I pull this off quite a bit.
nice demo I;ve been teaching this to my blue belts for the past 10 years. if you want to advice that some, the first thing you do when in 1/2 guard is go on your inside hip facing your the guy on top immediately, you should never be flat on your back in 1/2 guard, then using your bottom leg hook his outside leg then your 50/50, from there is all yours , but again, nice demo

What an amazing video! Didn't know Adam Sandler had a killer darce :D
I see so much bjj content all over RUclips. This is some particularity good instruction and details. This channel is a must-subscribe for anyone who trains. This along with Jonathon Thomas are my go to for good tips
Back door escape with some added nuances. Cool
Yeah man......the ghost escape is unstoppable! Great video, great sales tactic!
Wow ! Amazing !
That was way longer than most JJ vids, but Well worth it ! Can’t wait to try it out !
I learned this one at 16. Its a fundamental. A must learn. Cause it will save your life in tough spots.
Wow by far the best technique best Hands-On breakdown this guy is amazing
Finally, a good teacher.👍
Great tutorial, I to have noticed a lot of BJJ guys not controlling the arm. When your training for MMA my guys learn they need to control the arm real quick

Oh goody, a gatekeeper. Making fun of someone who doesn’t know, instead of educating them properly. You’re hella cool. Fcuk you, assclown.
@@gook4dubb843 how long have you been training grappling?
Such a fun escape -- leaves em wondering wtf just happened! Love the Darce afterwards; will give that a shot. One thing, if you don't block them sufficiently with your right arm, they can spin to an opposite-side armbar.
Yes when you do this right, you counter the far side armbar... if you screw it up the most important details... well many things can go wrong. Thanks for watching!
Great breakdown. And chain of counters
Excellent add to what I do with the ghost escape
your technique is such a blessing! Thank You Adam Sandler!
Impressive. This newbie might actually be able to learn something to escape the suffocation. Thanks
Nice, this looks like a fun escape to try, gonna try this next time I get side mounted
Used this a bunch today. Awesome thanks for Video
your right on that darce too, thank you i know try and use it cause it feels right now not like how i was taught
The ghost is one of my favorite escapes. The problem with it though is that a more experienced opponent or a big guy with a belly (lol) will make it difficult. A good opponent will feel that hand come through and switch their hips and pin that hand and control it in a kesa gatame.
