Bro this only works on beginners.a guy experienced guy will take out that bottom elbow with their inside knee. where you learned your so called basics. You could easily swim your bottom arm to the outside instead of the inside and push his head away and swim your arena to the inside aka Marcelo.. this is low level shit.
@@danielamarobuz8811 Maybe others not just me, take longer to understand and appreciate that the coach takes his time to explain every single detail so we can get it.
Easy counter...Guy on top needs to switch his hips inside his opponents bottom arm and swim his top arm to the inside of the bottom guys framing arm and block his far hip and then ...boom..high step mount.
Coach Brian because of the lockdowns we are forced to roll in my garage You've been our headcoach since March Ghosting left and right Catching them darce chokes Now you show us an escape from the doorstop greatest channel ever
Brian Peterson is such a great mind and teacher. and he implements from all different school of thoughts id wanna see a technique breakdown/discussion with him and Eddie Bravo.
I do something like this I call the forklift because both arms are on the ‘wrong side’ in a upward lifting manner. I had initially based it off your wedding sweep and combined it with my love of the ghost escape. You have some great refinements that I hadn’t thought of and I’m going to have to try them out. Thanks again. Great channel
Thanks for sharing really learnt alot off you these past 2 and half years all the details come togegher this is my kind of technique! I'll just be casually waiting for my honorary youtube black belt 😂😂😁
Sup Coach. This is just a reminder that ppl absolutely want to see more Nick stuff. (Coach in Guillotine: "Just go ahead and swing me around, Nick." Haha. I'll never forget that one.)
Been using this for close to 2 years now, works really well, my gym calls it the Houdini escape. Catch that darce pretty easily by leaving the neck frame
Good details - and the details are everything. This is how I hold side control top against the most troublesome partners, always looking to apply heavy breath-restricting pressure hoping to tire them out and open up their defenses. The switch to the head push is really key to delay them getting back on top of you. I tell the less experienced guys to push the head and not the neck all the time but they just don't seem to get it.
"Top turtle is pretty damn good if you were just on the bottom in side control... " 😂👍🏻 for sure is Brian, i d take that anytime when am in side control 👌👌👌 - just kidding absolutely love your videos BP. The min 11. 50 big guy scratches his head cause nuckles in head hurts... 👍🏻😂 This guy is legend. He teaches great staff w good humour and detail. 🙏🙏🤩
Love this! I catch darces out of the ghost all the time and if not it leads to escapes back to guard. I can’t wait to add the phantom to my game, I’ll be impossible to keep in side control soon.
This is exactly my experience. I accidentally stumbled across the Phantom without realizing it and have been using that quite a bit. This channel is awesome
The first time i did the ghost it worked like a charm. The second time I attempted it when they felt the near arm feed under their torso, they dropped to their right hip to judo side and I rolled them over. The third time I tried it, they went immediately to doorstop to nullify my ghost, this is a great answer to that reaction!!!! Thanks coach
Just before you go up to take the back, where you have both as on one of his sides, with one arm on the ribs and other (the radius) on the head temple, i use that for the dumptruck.
I feel better about my return to grappling. My offence was offensively sucky, but my defence... my defence was solid 😂 I was remembering escapes I’ve only seen on video, from you!!
I love your ghost videos, and use it all the time to escape. I have also done this when the ghost starts to fail, but I didn't know all of these awesome details. Great videos! People often ask, what seminar would you like to attend most, and I say I would like to attend one of yours!
Great video! I've done arm drags while escaping bottom side control for many years. If the bottom player can focus on PUSHING the head with their bicep, chances to arm drag while escaping will appear often.
Just started my BJJ journey and man just did the ghost escape and can’t wait to try the phantom once they switch. Going to practice getting at darce choke in. 🔥🔥🔥
First "knuckle smashing" technique I learned was when you can't get a tight triangle you put your fist in their neck to compensate for the space lol. I don't think I've ever actually thought to do it when rolling I always go for the basic one but I have to start doing these
Thank you for this tecnics.. I make bjj, all the time surprise my colegs when im rolling, thanks to you... 100%efecient...gratings from Canary islands from one romanian.. Cheers and keep teach us more and more quality tecnic.. OSS!
That's funny. I have a whole series of moves related to the ghost and its counters and use the phantom name but to a different move. I also have the ghoul, specter, apparition, etc.
Thanks Brian. I must be doing something not right with timing or technique with the Ghost or this Phantom (Classic to North South position), as with my arms split and underneath, my opponent can 1) Put more weight on my hip side by facing me slightly and make it harder to scooch out from the bottom 2) My neck is threatened as it's expose for a north south grip or just straight choke across. Guessing something to do with ... moving your hips, micro bumps, make space? Any tips appreciate it!
Hey Coach Brian that position you have at 7:15-7:19 in the video, is that the same position that Rickson Gracie teaches in in isible jiu jitsu? It's the side control position where the top player cannot push your right shoulder to the mat and you can support all his weight. You would also have a z post with your left leg an and kick stand position with your right foot, just wondering
The problem in this escape is to get the elbow under your opponent. Some keep it so tight and if you are close to succeed they switch to Kesa Gatame for short moment and then back. And it is all over again.
@@TeachMeGrappling No, I mean when you are at bottom, in the side control and try to put your elbow in, under the opponent, they grab the hand and go to Kesa Gatame. That way they can in the same time use their knee to push your elbow out again.
*Disclaimer: the ghost has saved me SOO many times since discovered (from this channel mostly) and I do wish BP was fighting in the video below to "represent" but in this (albeit skewed) video that has a huge muscle man's arms pinning this bjj guys chin/neck, has me wondering about getting stuck with that heavy forearm hooking pin thing he comes up with m...and while we're at it, ugh, that north south pin right after. I'd hate getting that truck stuck on my face, so tips there are welcomed too. FWIW I'm sure sweaty arms made of stone cannot be easy to attach to either, since it seemed like he wasn't securing his arm (and I'm sure you agree, a bunch of other stuff) so I can't think this is all that typical, but as a RUclips fan boy out here of yours I'd love to hear a TMG take on it (and save my neck testing it, haha) Either way, thanks as always for TEACH(ing) ME GRAPPLING! 👉 ruclips.net/video/ByOyW0SAUWU/видео.html
Coach Peterson, At the 6:15 and 8:15 marks, when you underhook your left hand under his torso, does he not have the leverage to use his left hand to pin your left wrist to the ground (before you grab his left triceps obviously), then staple his left shin over your left forearm? Its not a criticism, its just a question. Thank you.
Yes that’s possible for sure. I would love to do that if I was on top. When on the bottom you must always make your moves. Hand fight for positioning and don’t let them dominate you. Like any other move or position, there are always two sides to the coin. Influence your own destiny! Don’t let it be a losing coin flip. 🤙
Check out our ghost escape in the gi video below guys! Another great escape!

Brian Peterson is such a great mind and teacher. and he implements from all different school of thoughts id wanna see a technique breakdown/discussion with him and Eddie Bravo.
3.5 years in...... I hate that I just stumbled upon this gem. That algorithm knows my current struggles!
12:15 This is the same exact concept as having the Thai Plum near the top of the skull rather than the neck
More great stuff.
Love the ghost 👻
Basically an arm drag to back take from bottom side, Awesome!
Defense... Baby!
Not defense. Agressive defense, as opposed to passive defense that gets you smothered.
