Funny how hard it is to pay someone to do a job. We have had that problem in the past, some guys come out and never submit a bid or fail to show up at all, very frustrating. Good to see you and Angela are safely getting the job done. 👍👍
Ya know, Sam - while most of us aren’t creating RUclips content , we are ALL basically DIY’ers through life ! 😳👀😱🙄😩🤣❤️ But I enjoy watching your life unfold so I can forget about mine from time to time ! 😘
I'm enjoying this series. It's relaxing to watch others work. How deep did you make the soffits on the sides and gable ends? For the critics saying it's heavy, shingles weigh 180 to 240 lbs. per square (100 sq ft). So on a 1000 sq ft home you had 1800 to 2400 lbs of shingles. A panel of 3x8 metal roofing weighs less than 18 pounds so 100 square ft weighs 756 lbs. Metal is 1/3 the weight of shingles.
When I first saw a metal roof I was torn. Does this look right? I dunno but it's kinda cool. Back and forth thinking until it came time to do our garage. We didn't want to spend outragous dollars and we had one man (the hubs) and one woman (the kid) to do the work. A ray of sunshine broke through the clouds ..... Metal Roofing!!!! They ripped off every shake my great grandfather split, pulled every nail my grandmother drove down and had a new roof on in less than a week. YAY! No more rain on the freezer :) I'm so excited to see you install yours cuz I know it's gonna be a quality job
Give you guys serious props👏. Now I've got to research our old fisher mobile home to know if it can support the load. Don't worry about what other people think, I and most people think you do a great job. Homestead perfect is what I'd call it.
I’ve been very curious in what hold ups you might be facing in acquiring the metal roofing so you can finish. Quite amazed at how awesome a job you did in the overhang! I forget what you called the support for it. So impressed with you all!
I totally agree with you Sam. You should probably have all materials when starting a project. I'm thankful that I did this in mid 2019 for our cabin. I budgeted everything i thought I'd need. No, my cabin isn't yet finished but with todays prices I'm glad i have everything I need. Some businesses are not able to deliver because of this crazy Covid. That makes it tough too. Hopefully you will get your metal before long to finish up your home.
i lived i a trailer for 12 years, put a new roof over it, then i had to replace the floor, partical board is the worst, that stuff should be outlawed! then the skirting. glad i live in a house now.
Good job Sam...........it is one heck of a job I can tell you that and I think you have done a great job of taking on this project. We did our triple wide 2000+ sf home and it took a couple weeks doing it steady. Then of course it was just my hubby and I. It actually may have been more like three weeks as we went down through the top and took off all underlayment as we had a few 2x6 that had to be raised a bit and or sistered to new boards ......our walls all around and roof are done with 2x6 lumber. It's very sturdy and this time we laid double underlayment for the entire roof because at 67 we were not doing this AGAIN. We've never had the luxury of hiring things as such done so we have done tons of projects and the satisfaction of that is that we know what is there and how it is constructed. It is a heck of a lot of work and with a 25 yr warranty on the shingles we won't be around to see it be done again..........I don't believe! LOL I think you've done a great job and it's a heck of a lot of work. Stay safe on the metal roofing......it will be wonderful. Love that you are accomplishing all of this and can take the pride in knowing if ever needed you can do it if you have to. Blessings......great job!
I feel that you were right to check out someone else to do the job on your roof , if for any other reason to find out how much it would cost and if you could do t any cheaper .As it happens , not only cheaper , but better and you know you HAVE done a much better job of it. I think that you must be feeling more confident about the task in hand.
We live in Vermont and I have had two metal roofs...one on strapping and one on plywood...plywood all the way. Our last roof in 2004, cost around $8000 installed. It is not a standing seam but a regular metal roof. I would not have any other. We live in the woods.
Sam I don’t know if you remember when I ask you about the plywood on the roof mine is just 1x6 boards and then the metal roof iwish I had the plywood now but so for no troubles love yall channel hugs
Regarding the extra weight of the roof.... You mentioned that you have the specifications for the roof trusses and they will carry the extra load. My question is what about the floor under the exterior walls? Will it Carry the extra load from the roof transmitted down through walls? Since mobile homes have no foundation support on the exterior walls.
I'd like to know if you can fish a wire in the roof from the panel box to an outlet? If you poke a hole through the ceiling will you be able to fish over to an outlet, approximately 7 feet. The roof has a curve or rounded top.
Your roof is already 10 steps ahead of where it was and where the contractors wanted to take it, and your not even done yet. It's going to be fantastic once you get the metal roofing on (Even though Angela wouldn't tell us the color)
You guys are amazing ❣️ I would not be able to do any of what you've done. Kudos to you San. You've got the cutest kids. Any room for any more? They're adorable 🥰❣️
When you replace the roof screws on the roofdo you put them right in the same holes? Do u use a a sealant after replace the screws? What kind? My husband is bed bound for now and we are seriously looking for more afordable housing and im entertaining the thought of a mobile home or manufactured housingi need all the knowledge i can get ..what are some of the higher quality named brands of manufatured housing?
Congrats on your project. If you had it all to do over, was that much overhang worth it vs just a few inches? Not judging, just asking since I am about to undertake a similar project. Thanks
Be sure to not overtighten the screws. We had a contractor put a metal roof on our doublewide 7 years ago. They overtightened the screws and stripped them out. It made the holes too big and nothing we could do to fix it except replace the roof. One section of the roof would leak and we could never get it fixed correctly. They should have put the 1 by 4 boards on top of the osb, but didn't. There was nothing for the new screws to grip to. Had to replace the roof. So be careful getting the screws perfect.
I have to keep reminding myself that its not worth fixing my mobile home up. Its got so many problems and Im not sure if its even HUD. Im not 100% of the year so... Going to just build a new home in its spot.
I appropriate all your info on the different projects. Information is power. Sad for all the Downer Dans and Negative Nancy’s that you must get. I love your channel!
Advantage of doing your self . Warranty for work done knowing how to find the S.O.B LOL LOL When i do somethings i tell myself i wouldn't want to be the one taking it apart as i over kill Thing so they not come apart LOL
I want me a molid home theyer, given me the last day in this month to mover i get pay once a month i have lupus i cannt do thing like i use to. But i dont have no where to go. I am 🤔 to goto the park i dont no at this time.
Awesome information Sam. Let's rock with the roof and especially Miss Angela's Soap Shack. Jackzilla and I both love your channel but please, for my sake, keep spitting the vlogs out so I don't have to listen to her. We have up and becoming projects soon and I tell her to chill. We need to see what y'all do and learn from you. 😁
How much weight did you and Angela lose working on the roof project? The job definitely had to take a toll on your body, I know I was exhausted watching you. 🤣🤣🤣

My wife and I have the exact same palm harbour home. We did the new roof and vinyl siding with new Windows and redid the whole inside. awesome videos.
That is awesome!!! Would love to see photos of it if you have any to send over via email or facebook. :)
Be proud Sam you and Angela have done GREAT ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Y’all did an excellent job probably better than a professional roofer. ❤️❤️❤️
You are there....in that location , knowing 'the lay of the land'. Everything you do is well thought out and executed. 👏👏👏🥳💞🥳💞👏
You command the English language....I admire you.
Happy Thanksgiving to your family!!!😃

Fly rafters I do believe was what the overhang support was called.
We may not be neighbors literally but love you all anyway.
I love the verse at the end! 🥰

Your videos are so fun to watch! I keep coming back to see your progress on all the projects. Thank-you for sharing. 🕊🙋♀️🙂
I know all about taking video on a project slowing you down. That's why I haven't been. You've been doing OK on the project. Keep up the good work.
I think you two do a fine job

Nice job with your answers.
Thank you for sharing. Great info.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, thanks for sharing,
How lucky were you that you kept all that information on the roof trusses.
Excellent advice
Great Job thanks DUNEDIN FL

Any info on the company you ordered the metal roofing from, also whats the square footage of your home ??
Ewwww math sucks glad you did the math. I love this.
I have a question…. Has the weight of the roof over caused any structural issues?
Are you painting trailer
Would it be better to put ten on top
Hi. Was this done before lumber prices went up during COVID?
Yes, it sure was!! Video date is from Nov. 2020 so the materials of the project were bought in August 2020 I think.
Congrats on your project. If you had it all to do over, was that much overhang worth it vs just a few inches? Not judging, just asking since I am about to undertake a similar project. Thanks

Are you guys going to remove the old siding and put OSB and house wrap on with new siding? Just curious about more potential projects lol
Eventually, yes. :) We're renovating the bedroom currently.
Did you buy all roof supplies at Lowe’s
No, we purchased from a local metal roof manufacturer.
I have to keep reminding myself that its not worth fixing my mobile home up. Its got so many problems and Im not sure if its even HUD. Im not 100% of the year so... Going to just build a new home in its spot.

When i do somethings i tell myself i wouldn't want to be the one taking it apart as i over kill Thing so they not come apart LOL
Are you gonna wish you had put a porch attached to the roof over your back door.
On the soap Shack did you have to pull permits to do electrical and the plumbing
2030 eh? I'm setting my calendar as we speak.

How much weight did you and Angela lose working on the roof project? The job definitely had to take a toll on your body, I know I was exhausted watching you. 🤣🤣🤣
We do pretty well at making sure we don't waste away. Hahaha
Based on that price maybe you should have just bought a new trailer.
