Yes completely. I feel like sometimes an entire view of someone is changed over one simple thing they said and that just isn't appropriate. Whether that view is the media's or an individual's, it's insane how much an opinion can change so fast over seemingly nothing to some of us.

My husband gave me his grandmother's ring as an engagement ring. It's beautiful and I so love that it's a family heirloom because it is extra special and makes me feel even more included in his family. The stone is amethyst, which ended up being the stone for our wedding month and the birth month of our first child. I love how it has all turned out!

As a die hard swiftie I appreciate the respect.. I get why people think she’s over hyped and it’s all so extra if they aren’t fans. But I think just to respect her as an artist. People don’t have to like her if they don’t want to.

My engagement ring was appraised at 10k and it took 3 years for him to propose. Three months after I lost the main diamond. It fell out of the setting. I tore the sink apart because that's where I noticed it was gone. Thank GOD, I ended up finding it in my attic on the stairs where I changed my clothes. Immediately after that we took it to a jeweler and got the setting fixed and put two feet around the diamond instead of one and added a halo around the diamond. We got it appraised and insured in case anything like that ever happens again. Insurance on your valuables is the best thing you can do

I’ve been married 28 yrs and I can say WITHOUT a doubt the reason we are still strong today is the fact we respect each other in every regard .

We didn't get an engagement ring at all. We decided to put the money towards our wedding. My wedding band cost $79. My dress cost $450. We had a picnic in my parents garden for our reception and we spent the most money on our photos. Our total cost for our wedding was $8000 of which $5000 was the food/drinks (no alcohol). Am I happy we did it this way?? You bet!! And we have been happily married 25 years! xx
We had a similar approach to our wedding and have never regretted it. Although I would hesitate to say this is universally true, I have noticed that in many cases, it seems that the more extravagant a wedding, the shorter than marriage lasts.

Just dropping a comment to say that I’m local & looking for buddies 💗 My husband, toddler & I moved to Phoenix just a few months ago and finding some friends who are moms too has been so hard! We left all of our family behind in Florida and it definitely feels lonely “momming” alone. Our little one was born just 2 days after Griffin & my husband is very outdoorsy and loves hiking! Love y’all & your hot takes!

We are local too. My husband and I moved from California. Two daughters. It is very lonely especially in the hotter months. No one comes outside in Arizona.

Note from your friends in Europe, EVERYONE should take their shoes off at home!!! It’s so common here, you just know to arrive at someone’s house and remove your shoes at the door. Some people have some cosy cheap slippers to wear at home themselves and also for friends and family that come visit ☺️ it’s just more hygienic and nicer.

@@sunlight.travelsit depends where in Germany they live, I know plenty of people in Germany who have shoes off in the house rule. So I think it just depends on the person/family.
In Canada you ALWAYS take your shoes off at the door before entering someone's home, unless they specifically say it's ok to leave your shoes on. When you live someplace with a lot of weather fluctuation and all 4 seasons you have to! I was always amazed during my visits to the US how common it is for people to wear outdoor shoes inside.

Your podcast has become one of my favorites. I love how funny Abby is and am glad she is showcasing her personality. And Matt cares so much, about the podcast, about the product he produces, and they care so much about each other. It really is a great outlet!
I do not believe Taylor Swift is overrated. She built her empire as Matt said! She deserves the hype. And my husband and I do not have “rules” when it comes to talking to single women but he constantly reassures and make me comfortable with him talking to anyone. He tells me anytime a girl texts him even my sister 😅 I got a good one honestly. In my previous relationship this was a very toxic subject 😅
With the whole shoes thing, as an Asian, we usually have a set of house slippers in our home, so we have "outside" shoes and "inside" shoes. it's just part of our culture...

My engagement ring is from my fiancée’s great grandma’s aunt so it’s super old and cost nothing! I believe in reusing family rings because there are so pretty and it stops the rings from being a scam!

That first hot take. I grew up with bangs, got rid of them through uni and then came back to them when I started my teaching career and become a mom. It felt like coming home when I chopped them again. Maybe it’s because I’m a redhead, but they suit me so much better and I wished I had bangs for our wedding day! But the key is to know how to trim them yourself confidently, makes bags a waaay better experience.
I’m 32.. and I’ve had bangs since I was 17. 😂 side bangs. Have not cut them. I feel I look weird without them.

Totally agree. I can not understand why people spend money on engagement rings and weddings when they could just use it as a down payment on a house.

I realize I’m very fortunate but my dad paid for my wedding. He said he had saved that money specifically for my wedding. And that money wasn’t available to us for just anything. It was for me and my siblings if we wanted a wedding.
Sometimes you get gift amounts that equal the price of the wedding and you have something to enjoy with family and friends
@@S_Car28yeah.. that’s why we waited 10 years after being together and 5 years after being engaged to have our wedding. I wanted a dream wedding. It was 30k which is the average wedding price. We waited until i graduated grad school and started working for a couple years so we could afford a wedding.

My hubby and I were so poor when we got married in 1996, we didn't have money for engagement rings. We bought our rings at a pawn shop. A plain gold band for him, a diamond cross band for me. And.....here we are.....celebrating 28 years in April. We did talk about a lot. What happened to those people, to their marriage? I wouldn't change a thing.

My husband and I moved to Las Cruces NM from Fort Worth TX last year and immediately became pregnant. So not only did we move away from all of our friends, we had a huge life change. It’s been very lonely. Still haven’t found community here.

I liked this video a lot, I love hearing other people opinions and discussing that it’s okay to be different and still have a strong friendship. If you agreed all the time life would be boring. You are exactly right about being that friend/being the one to ask. I once heard a speaker at an event talk about friendship, and that if you want to have good friends, you need to be a good friend, and part of that is being the one to be willing to do the asking and serving…if you have found a good friend, they will do that in return!
Also, about wanting community/friendship/people to do life with…find a church you like, and join a small group and a mom group. You will find your people.

I am a single woman with married guy friends. I worked with a guy who was one of my closest friends for a while. We ate lunch every day at work together. It was completely platonic. I met his wife and kids attended their birthday parties. Loved his wife. We don't work together anymore, and don't live near each other, but we will still message each other to check in. Having a friendship with someone of the opposite sex is completely possible. Just need the spouse to feel confident in the relationship and comfortable with the friend as a person.

It is not the first time I hear this hot-take in the podcast and I want to address it. Having close friends of the opposite sex should not be a problem, it masks jelousy issues of the person. What if the person is bisexual or pansexual? Then they cannot have friends? I understand for couples/marriages of 2 heterosexual people that may be a thing they do not thinn about. But just saying it here becauae it keeps popping up. Anyway, love the podcast, it is somehow comforting to hear you both speak. I wish you both and your little ones the best!

I totally agree that people tend to have a negative attitude towards people when they are first starting something new, it’s not until you’ve ‘made it’ until most people start to show their support.. it’s hard not to take it to heart though, especially since you usually need the most support when you are first starting ❤ I started my RUclips channel just over a year ago, and my mom tends to state more negative thoughts towards it. Although I try to ignore those comments, because I know she loves me and just doesn’t want me to get my hopes up, it does hurt my heart a bit when I hear it.. especially from someone I care about 😕
Matt I hope you know to your core how truly talented and inspiring you are. Hot take but there are some opinions people have that are non negotiables with me. Not talking about religion or politics but for example overly posting your children on public online accounts. Your friend Bella and Dallin I think his name is, I stopped watching them because every single post or video is of their new baby. It makes me super uncomfy. I also dont follow anyone I know personally who has a public IG and posts their kids. I just dont support it. Thats my "hot" take lol
I completely agree, your kids can’t consent to have their faces on the internet and people can make deepfakes of anyone and there are so many creeps on the internet who follow others purely for their kids

I completely agree with being friends with everyone including people who have different opinions about things than you. The only problem is some people are unable to keep those friendships because some people have a hard time agreeing to disagree. But I try to always have a open mind about things especially ones that can possibly have a negative effect if I don’t. But I love your channel, so far I watch you guys as well as Bella and Dallin the most. My engagement ring is actually from Amazon and has two cats since I’m a huge fan of cats. Thanks for including us and showing us that it’s okay to be different than others and still get along I truly hope that one everyone can be more excepting of others.

I’ve been married for 23 years and my first wedding rings were $300! My main stones are sapphire with a couple little diamonds sprinkled in. I have another set now but even then I didn’t want my husband to spend more than $1500.
@@melisa8256 that’s great! I’ve been married 32 years. My ring which included the wedding band was $1200(my husbands choice). But if I were to lose it, I would definitely want to go with a moissanite over a diamond.

Abby I never thought twice about your voice. When you first said that people hate on your voice all the time I was shocked because your voice is so normal to me. I think you do sound sweet like Matt said. If anything it sounds like you have a permanent “phone” voice, like the higher pitched voice you’d have while talking on the phone (unless if I’m the only person that does this) 😹 but there’s nothing wrong with your voice!

Even I'm leaning towards moissonite cuz it's more affordable so hearing that yours is moissonite too makes me feel better about my decision 💗btw was abby's 1st engagement ring that got lost also moissonite or a real diamond? 😲
It was a real diamond actually that’s what made her even more upset! She was already upset about loosing it and being a diamond and the ring he bought for her specifically that hits hard!! But yeah I don’t think it needs to be a diamond or spending money you don’t have on it. For sure!!

Matt, the brown sugar, cinnamon pop-tarts are the best!! I also agree on the drinking age. My nephew got to be an exchange student in Belgium, and he was 17. The 13:52 whole family that he stayed with had beer/wine daily. It was never an issue over there because it was just normal.
When we lived in Arizona the shoe argument was a constant one between me and my husband! I hate wearing shoes in the house and he wears slippers in the house! In Arizona it was the main argument we had because it was so dusty. We are still finding Arizona dust after we moved 2 years ago.

Hi! Just wanted to say, I love listening to this podcast. As someone who had so much unstability in my life, Matt and abby remind me of the wholesome life, and that anything is possible. I listen to this podcast at work so much.❤️❤️
Side note: I think the reason Elemental and Turning Red may not have hit as hard for Matt is bc they are immigrant stories. At least for me bc my Mom and dad are immigrants here from those two movies hit closer to home for me and made me emotional.

On community- my husband and I moved to Boston as newlyweds last year and we found a great local church that’s pretty small but has awesome small groups/community groups! It has made us feel like we have a little family in Boston/feels more like home❤ especially when we weren’t expecting to like Boston very much!
