Sexual education with your children can start right from babyhood. Teaching them the proper names for their body parts is the perfect place to start. Start early and always keep the conversation going. This will help avoid an awkward “birds and the bees” conversation when they are preteens and educate them along the way.

    • @janidriggs6275

This is what we did and we feel like it was very effective. We never had “the talk” but rather an on going conversation (age appropriate) from baby until
the day before they were married.

What Matt said about hand sanitizer is true! Most sanitizers also have harmful chemicals in them. They’re meant to be a back up for “in need” situations. Not daily use. When you’re in an area with water and soap it’s always best to wash your hands. Friction goes a long way. And we do have helpful bacteria on our skin 😊

I went on a first date...where we met at the restaurant. There was a long wait, so in conversation I asked him when his last date was. (We had been talking for about 6 weeks.) Turns out, he just broke up with his FIANCE 3 weeks before our date. I asked if he was really ready to date...he assured me he was. He was checking out the waitress's behind every time she walked past. It wasn't even close to covert. He had two sleeve tattoos on his arms so I asked what they were for. He rolls his arms over, and they were covered in swastikas!! He said he got them in prison for attempting to murder a friend after getting drunk. 😮

Consent does not always have to be vocal, it's also given or not given through body language. For instance, when you start to lean in for a kiss and start to pucker your lips, keep your eyes open to see if the other person also leans in and does the same, that's giving consent. If the other person pulls away or doesn't lean in, then they are clearly saying no and not giving consent to a kiss. Body language is everything, you don't always have to ask, "may I kiss you?" You are welcome to ask to kiss someone if you are not sure

Another thing with forbidding any exposure at all to social media is that it creates a strong and potentially dangerous curiosity. Now the kid is going to be wandering why it's so bad and what he isn't allowed to see. So when he inevitably gets access somehow (whether through friends, devices at school, etc...) he will be more inclined to look at bad stuff on the web. Kind of like a forbidden fruit kind of deal. I have no experience raising children of my own, but that's how I was as a kid.

( obviously lol ) and just because I don’t have a smart phone doesn’t mean I can’t have social media! Like I have instagram and RUclips on my computer and it works fantastic! I think it was perfect for my siblings and I! Also I do understand that every family is different but I am so glad my parents implemented this. I mean, I’m scared that once I get a smartphone, I’m going to be addicted to it like a lot of other teens 😬 but I do have awareness of that so hopefully I’m ok 😂😂 alrighty thanks for letting me rant 😂😂😂😂

I laughed because I also spent the night with my boyfriend for the first time at 15 years old. I didn’t have a good home life and even though other people close to me were totally unaware, his mom sensed it and provided a safe space for me. It actually changed my life in ways I’ll never be able to put into words. Just wanted to throw out there that I am a junior in HS and do not have a phone. I do have an iPad so I can communicate with friends and all that. ( I got the iPad at 11) At times it is frustrating and I feel left out when I’m in group settings where everyone’s on their phone and I’m…just there. But there’s something really freeing about it. When I’m out I don’t have to worry about all that. I don’t have to respond right away to friends because I can’t. I don’t have the constant temptation to check social media or anything because it’s not right in my pocket.
I don’t know if that makes any sense lol. I do know there are many opinions so I don’t want anyone getting offended there’s many ways to go about it, this was just my parents choice. When I was younger it did really bother me but now I see how valuable it is to be free of having a phone. Of course like I mentioned sometimes I do wish I had a phone but for the most part I’m grateful.
Anyway that was long. Just thought I’d mention it for any parents who have little ones and wondering what the teens POV is. And if you’re a kid without a phone out there like me, trust me, your parents just want the best for you. Enjoy this time while you can ♥

Physical intimacy is something that I'm not completely comfortable with and I want to make sure that I can trust, and he knew that. We were long distance as well. As a mommy of a 6 year old daughter and a 2 year old son, I’m finding that conversations about our bodies are best done in layers. You have a 2 year old’s level of conversation when they’re that age, mostly talking about their body parts and the names for them. For my 6 year old, she has seen me in the bathroom on my period before, so I had to give a basic explanation of what was happening. She also saw me go through the process of pregnancy and was old enough when her brother was born to hear some of how that happened. Now, I explain in some additional detail how a woman’s body works, but I let her know that there are more details that I will explain when she gets older, and she’s totally fine with that. I think it’s just good to make it matter of fact, and constantly be building a knowledge base for them, so that when they have a question, you aren’t starting from square one. Also, if you have spoken with them about bodies since they were tiny, it never got a chance to become awkward.

Yeah, me and my husband have been together 22 years and he was my very first boyfriend and I was his very first girlfriend. We dated for 4 months before we had sex...he was 15 at the time and I was 18. It sounds crazy now, but felt right at the time. Our friends have 15 year old children now and I keep reminding them of our story and feel relieved that we don't have kids of our own. But we love each other to bits and I'm happy that we were each others firsts and hopefully we'll be each others last as well. And even though we were young, (well he was :D) our love was true. Through out the years you are together as an couple stuff happens, life happens and it will change you and it will change your partner and some couples grow apart, but we grew together, he is my person

I found it interesting when they were talking about social media and what social platforms they won’t let there kids have because as someone who is in their late teens I had friends when I was younger who would download social media apps that their parents wouldn’t let them have. I think it depends on the child’s personality and who they’re influenced by but imo strict parents raise sneaky kids. You can put however many blockers on their phones or iPads as you want but if they want something they’ll find a way around it.

I agree. I think it's more important to teach them how to be on social media safely than to not allow it at all, especially because of how popular social media is nowadays it's impossible to keep them off it.

I think it depends on the kids. Their relationship with their parents and character. Not all kids are sneaky.

I'm a 42 year old mom and you are correct. I didn't have social media as a kid but I was sneaky about things. I allow my kids (12 & under) to use an old phone for videos and audio books as well as kids messenger. They seem happy with that for now. I'm pretty careful but not in a super strict way, if that makes sense.

    • @Serena1852
      @Serena1852 Год назад

@@JB11334 I do think that it also depends on the kid’s relationship with their parents. I’m just saying most of my friends growing up had fairly good relationships with their parents and they still did things without their parents knowing. That’s just my experience though.

I totally agree with talking to your kids at an early age in age appropriate ways!! I love that my momma would always teach us and answer any questions we might have had. I remember being in kindergarten...KINDERGARTEN...and a little boy said "dick" but wouldn't tell me what it was. So I asked my momma when I got home. She just said, "it's a nasty word that little boys use for their penis." I just said "okay" and went about my merry little way lol. Because she was always so open, I never felt the need to look elsewhere with questions. She was so approachable. I feel like that's really important for the parent child relationship! And kids these days are learning and doing things wayyyy earlier now. So teaching them the appropriate words for body parts, teaching them what a good touch vs bad touch is, and even what sex is at an early age is important these days.

I agree with Matt that you need to talk to your kids BEFORE they’re hearing things from other kids. (But still age appropriate of course. And BTW, the bus is the worst place for that kind of talk happening) My kids are both adults now, but one of the best things I think we did as parents was that we BOTH talked to each of our kids about stuff. I had been too embarrassed to EVER talk to my Dad about “women things” until I was probably almost 30 and the mother of 2. It was important to me that our daughter was comfortable going to my husband about things, not just me. Bonus is that he’s a paramedic, so very medically knowledgeable. I never wanted either of our kids to be afraid to talk to one of us about something if the other wasn’t around for some reason.

Matt I agree with you about the learning aspect. My daughter is an artist and she has been learning and building things. She made her own claw machine by an idea. She got off RUclips when she was seven or eight and it completely worked and looked totally real. Gave prices and everything. She also had her own variety of slime and slime business lol. There are good things but also bad you just have to find balance and also Supervision my daughter was very inquisitive and she still is and like you she love to learn and build things. She used it more in an artistic way, but I would not want to take that away from her in any way she loved her iPad in those ways and luckily we never had any problems.

My fiancé and I went on a romantic date and he planned a dinner as well. We waited so long for the food that the champaign started to make me tipsy. He booked like a small chalet and started joking that if they didn't hurry with the dessert, he would have to carry me up to our room or I would fall asleep right there. We waited almost an hour for the dessert btw 😅

1:50 absolutely! My first son was calm and sweet. We call our second son our sour patch kid 😅 we wanted more kids initially… but now we have decided two is all we can handle 😂 and made it official ✂️ but two boys is so great! Enjoy those days where the boys are young because once the little one turns 1.5-2yrs , they fight ALL THE TIME! “Share” is an unknown concept! It’s fun though. Every single stage is precious 😊
