Clay Regazzoni - a racer of the purest kind - derserves that win so much. It was so unfair how the old man Enzo Ferrari treated him at the Ende of the 1976 season..Lauda & Regazzoni was a superb team for three years at the Scuderia - In the 312 B3 during the 1974 season and then in the two stuuning T-Models in 1975 the 312 T1 and in 1976 the 312T2. All designed by the great Mauro Forghieri.
I think not many people remember which team took their first EVER F1 victory in this race. I want to see that team rack up those results, not rack up their damage bills
29:21 Murray talking about Alan Jones winning the Can Am championship in '78. Thats one racing faction that needs to come back. But i doubt it will with how soft as a whole everyone is. Can Am was big balls, hairy chested, V8 powered manly racing. Those cars will never be topped.
They have fixed the unreliability of the cars but most retirements these days are driver error. The squidgy organic bit in the middle has become less reliable!
@@fboness368 Not surprised - he and I come from the same Scottish town. He's been banging on about his reading difficulties for year, I reckon he compensates for it by talking too much.
If I understood the end of this race correctly, 3rd place finished 2 laps down? At least 1 lap down. That being a common occurrence today would have everyone who shouts about how much better racing used to be, throwing a weekly fit abot bias and conspiratorial race fixing.
Honestly. Stunning commentary and race production for 1979.
Also, that was some serious commitment from Jabouille down the Hangar Straight on lap 1.
First thing that struck me...this video is pristine, audio and video. Good ol days for sure. I can watch old F1 all day.....and have.😅
Than you for sharing, what a blast..Jackie Stewart as a commentator..Made my day
James Hunt had a great voice for the commentary
Dude was the coolest. Just gold. Told it straight. And dressed up for tv...lol. White, raggedy tshirt, and zero Fs given..lol. 😅. Loved em
The Williams FW07 man... I have never seen such a forgotten yet beautiful car in my life
We (Ferrari Tifosi) were lucky it wasn't ready by the beginning of 1979 season
Great upload, quite a treat. Thanks dude. Subbed.
Starts from this era and even by the late 80s crack me up. Some people just set off whenever they feel like it.
I know. That black car at about tenth just flew about half a second before the lights
@@nigelsouthworth5577 Black? It's the Ferrari of Villeneuve...

Thanks for the look at my past, please carry on the great work 🎉😂
Thank You for this upload. Those races are terrific!

Alan Jones in the Williams was amazing in practice and deserved to win
you have 1966-1972 races too ?
Who was the one in the black car making the insanely obvious jump start?
Nobody cared. I often watch the Monza start for the Petersen crash. Basically a rolling start
Wonder if it was Scheckter, looks like a Ferrari.
Jones had that Williams set up perfectly.
When you upload French GP 1999 aka broken leg victory?
Have you got the fan car race?
So this was James Hunt commentary debut. Maybe suit and tie, smart casual? no jeans and a t shirt 😅

TREMENDOUS.....!!!!!
F1 history
The day Wanker Williams started to be taken seriously.
why would you come in with 5 laps to go to change tyres? You're not going to make up the time you lose in the pits.
Abbey was such a balls-out corner back then.
The most advanced racing looks so primitive compared to today's F 1 . Will it look the same in 20 years.
This was 45 years ago, I remember watching these races live. LoL.

That's rubbish lol
Drivers very rarely spin out of races and retire on their own these days which used to happen all the time in the 70s, 80s, 90s.
Jackie Stewart is far too loquacious - uses 100 words when ten would suffice.
I think that is something that he acquired from his time commentating in the US
He was used by ABC to provide "colour" to Indy 500 broadcasts
You should see the documentary on Jackie streaming online. You might be very surprised that he never learned to read until he was in his 40s.

Great upload Someone standing at the apex of Stowe (?) Corner ! that's the 70s for you were 'woke' was something to do with your alarm clock
Just the enjoy the classic racing, old man. No need to bring your weird political obsessions into a completely unrelated video lol
This type of comment always sound like a parody for me lol some of these boomers are such snowflakes got to bring politics to everything
Shame nelson only lasted about 3 corners after all that build up. I guess the alfa would have exploded anyway
@@quietbatpersonthey can't help it, it's borderline brain damage. Ask him to elaborate & he'll be lost for words.
4-wheel drifts at 150. insane talent to drive these things.
