    I wouldn’t worry about flushing the little bit of oil out after it drains.
    Have a 2021 LM2 with 47k miles and only used amsoil. The oil will be just as black at 500 miles as it is at 6500 when you change it.
    Diesels are dirty. I will say every few tanks of gas it’s worth it to throw in some amsoil all in one, hot shots edc, or archoil fuel treatment. You’ll notice a difference in how it runs.

    Make sure you take DEF fluid with you. I just had an issue with my 2024 ZR2 3.0 and had to stop every 125 miles and add a gal to keep it from shutting down on me. Had to have it reprogrammed when I got back to SLC sensor was not reading correctly. This only happened when I was towing.

    The 3.0 takes 7 quarts. You should put 7 quarts in it. An accurate reading = warm, on a level surface, engine off after ~5 minutes to drain down, and then check the stick. A quart over likely isn't going to hurt anything, but it's throwing money away for no reason. Yes, GM overfills a quart at the factory because it uses a bit for about the first 2k miles as the rings seat. The engines get the necessary break-in hours on them before ever seeing a chassis. Take it off the lot, check at 500mi, recheck 1kmi, recheck 2kmi, and then get the free dealer change at 5k. And then EVERY 5k or 20% and no more. Playing the 7500mi or 0% game is dancing with the devil. The tolerances in these things are very tight. Be nice to them and they'll be reliable. And that's not real specific to the 3.0. Pretty much all of these newer engines running these thin oils need the same diligence in maintenance. Doesn't matter if you use Amsoil, Mobil1, etc or the standard ACdelco. Run whatever you want that meets or exceeds Dexos spec and be religious about the proper interval, because both of those things are required for a successful powertrain warranty claim. GM will do everything possible to get out of warranty liability, so keep good records and receipts if you change your own oil.

    What does your oil pressure run? Mine only ever runs about 30psi since brand new

    • @Lethalgarage
      @Lethalgarage  2 месяца назад +1

      Idle it looks to be 25psi, and climbs when driving.

      I have 2 cars now with the variable displacement oil pump. It kills me to see how low of oil pressure it runs at lower RPMs. But what you’re running is the “new normal”

    • @karlschauff7989
      @karlschauff7989 Месяц назад

      @@slscamg The idea is oil flow not pressure. New engines use a thinner oil that flows much faster. The spec for decades and decades was 10 psi for every 1000 RPM. So 25 psi at idle is fine. When the engine is under load or at high RPM, it'll instantly boost oil pressure to between 40 and 60 psi.

    Ive been using oem oil for 3 years. I want to make the switch over to amsoil on my next oil change. Do i need to do an engine flush first or can i just straight up switch it over without problems?

    • @Lethalgarage
      @Lethalgarage  2 месяца назад +1

    Your book tells you to wait a bit for the oil to drain into the pan before checking it.
