All great tips Pete. A little surprised on the design of the shocks. A lot different from axial ;) I like it. Great job and Iam sure there will be quite a few people who would like this help. Thumbs up
Hiya Nick. Yeah I think that the shocks are different to all the other ones out there. I guess that the advantage for a basher is that there is no shock top to come off during jumps and crashes. They do work well now that they have sorted out the o ring problem of the previous versions. Anyway many thanks for watching matey. Just found out that I'm working through the next lockdown. To be honest it doesn't seem to be much of a lockdown as the schools are still open and a lot of people are still at work. I think that mainly the pubs and restaurants are shut. @@PeteWylieRC hmmm .. well hardly seems like a shut down, is right... I guess they see it as helping?? Grease is a good sealer in some situations, but you may want to use a light weight silicone for cars. Won’t hold on to the dirt as well. This is only my opinion, your way may be better. Great video!
Good video m8 as I have just bought my boy the senton have u had tires blowing out on them as we put the battery in and it ran for 2 minutes tops and destroyed the rear tire
Hi there. I've not had the tyres on this one blow out. The only one that did was on my Granite but I was giving it full throttle while it was upside down as I was trying to flip it back over. I don't know if there are better tyres available from other manufacturers like Proline. You need to keep the Arrma wheels though because of the 14mm hex size. Thanks for your great feedback on the vid.
Great videos Pete . I'm brand new , just got the red Senton you have been working on . Could someone achieve somewhat similar results , less rolling over , without sacrificing suspension travel , by using harder , less grippy tires ? I dont trust myself to perform surgery on my truck yet .
Hi there. Yeah you are right to say that if the car looses traction then it will slide rather than roll. Rather than change the tyres, just find some slippery wet ground 😁 Many thanks for watching 😀
Hi there. The track was the Bournemouth BMX track at Iford. That's where I broke the rear shock tower on my Granite and Nick broke the front one on his Typhon so probably going to stick to the soft grassy landings in the forest! Many thanks for your kind comments 😀
Hi Pete, great info video as always. Am I right that Arrma is a UK based company and is that one of the reasons you like their cars rather than American ones say Traxxas?
@@chowettgoes hi there. Well as far as I know it's a British team behind the Arrma designs but they are owned by Horizon Hobby which is American. I think that Arrma offers better value for money than Traxxas and I've certainly been impressed with these 3s cars. The Traxxas Maxx seems to get good reviews but it's £630 so not cheap. Also I was not impressed with Traxxas taking legal action against various RC brands like HPI and Arrma and trying to put them out of business. They nearly succeed too and HPI is a shadow of its former self. Arrma luckily got bought up by Horizon so is hopefully safe now. Anyway in short they are just great bashers for the money 😁
@@PeteWylieRC thanks for yet more great insight! I’m getting back into RC and trying to get a better sense of these new makes (to me). I had heard a lil about that legal action. Certainly like and agree with you on the money. Even the Arrma’s are allot but £600+ is out of my league.
Hi Pete, you didn't add grease to the spur gear / pinion. Do you you recommend to run it dry? You mentioned Tamiya Anti Wear Grease for sealing the gearbox. Which grease do you use instead?
Yeah the plastic spur against the metal spur tends to get left dry on most RC's. Having said that I do grease them when I build a Tamiya and so there's certainly no harm in doing it. I was just using some LM2 grease I think. Anything like that would do. If you can get something sticky like Tamiya AW grease then it tends to stay put. Thanks for watching and commenting 😁
Nice I just got one and the motor went out I got a replacement but we put a arma infracion motor and ecu it's a fucking beast extra weight makes it more stable
Hello, nice video. I too have a senton and i would like your honest evaluation of the ebay shocks on your granite as they offer the same ones for the senton. Are they any good?
Hi there. Yeah they are well made with a smooth action. Seem very strong. No problems so far. The only thing I was thinking about them is that they are unbranded so I don't know if you can get spare parts individually. I'm thinking about getting a set for the Senton too although the Arrma shocks are doing fine on that. Thanks for watching the video 😁
Basically more teeth on the pinion gives a higher gear so higher top speed with slower acceleration. The opposite is true of the spur gear ie. more teeth gives a lower gear ratio. The Senton comes as standard with a 20 tooth pinion whereas the Granite and Big Rock come with a 15 tooth because bigger wheels also increase the gear ratio. Hope this makes sense 😃
I own a Senton. It's a lot of fun, but the parts aren't exactly durable. Turned too late and ran into a solid wall, breaking the steering rack and snapping one side of the front bumper. The upside is that replacement parts and upgrades are easy to acquire and install. Looking at upgrading a lot of suspension parts and getting better shocks and tires.
Hi there. I reckon that these are as tough as anything else I've had. I certainly broke my Traxxas Slash more often. Glad you are enjoying it. Many thanks for your comments 😀
Hi there. Yeah I sent the motor back to Modelsport where I bought the Senton and they sent me out a new one. You can probably deal with Horizon directly but I think that the retailer should be able to sort out warranty things.
Brilliant video just wished I had watched it before taking out my nice new shinny senton First run have cracked ever corner. How have you found the number plate gorilla tape. Did you put the number plate tape down first then go over it with the gorilla tape Really helpful videos keep up the good work New sub 👍
Hi there. I've only used the double sided number plate tape around the body post holes where I have stuck on an extra layer of lexan on. Mainly I've just used the gorilla tape around the edges of the body. If you are really battering it then it might be worth doing that thing with the dry wall tape and shoe goo that people do. I haven't tried it myself but people say it's good. Many thanks for the sub 😁
Great to know this info Pete as I've just bought the Bigrock V3, mine will have a much easier life than your models though as I am a big chicken and don't run any of my RC's in mud or water because I'm a bit of a wuss! Thinking about it, that's because I usually buy kits and the amount of work I put in doesn't make me want to run the models too hard- but this is not a kit, it's a basher so maybe I can give this a lot more stick :-)
I know what you mean, I don't give my Tamiya's that much of a hard time as I really don't want to break them but these Arrma's are designed to be bashed so give them hell! Many thanks for watching. Actually having said that I don't want to break them either! Hope you are enjoying the Big Rock. I have ordered a Big Rock body for the Senton so I can run it with the Granite tyres. Should be interesting :-)
Hey I have a question, I have a senton and I wanna replace the servo, did you go with coreless or brushless? And is the aluminum shocks worth it? They are kinda expensive
The servo is the JX Ecoboost 21kg. I'm not sure what technology it uses. The stock shocks are fine to be honest and the version 3 ones don't seem to leak.
Hi there. Difficult to describe really. Just a general clattering of gears. I'm going to do another video of tips so I'll try to remember to demonstrate what it sounds like. Do you think that yours is too noisy then?
Hi there. Yeah the Arrma 3s range is great but make sure to do the checks that I go through in these videos. The Big Rock unboxing summarises the things to check. The problem with the Senton is that the body being over the wheels means that all the mud is directed into the chassis. I only really use mine in summer when it's dry. I use the other ones all year. Maybe look at the Big Rock?
Ah right. I sent mine back to the retailer and they sent me a new one straight away. Hope you get yours back soon. Worth thread locking the screws when you reinstall it.
@@PeteWylieRC I went to send It back but they said cut out the middle man ..I'm hoping they send me an arrma one as this is common on the spectrum motor..plus I sent the whole unit ..just to have tolerances checked as there was a lot of powder on reveal haha
@@triple6rcs18 I think they should sort it out for you ok then. I have just bought the Big Rock and I notice that they now put washers on the motor screws and they were really tight so obviously they are trying to stop the mesh from slipping.
Is there any way you could message me personally or something along those lines I need a little help with learning more about the armor set in 3s maybe you could make a video or two on them

Yeah I hose down the cars and then I've got an air blower to dry them. WD40 on the bearings is a good idea. Before you run it next time, make sure you can still push it forwards and backwards freely 👍👍
Hi there. If you Google 'RC servo spline chart' you should find a list showing which manufactures use 25t and which use 23t. From there you need to do a bit of research into a particular one that is suitable. I hadn't realised the difference when I bought the JX Servo but luckily I made it fit. It seems that 25t is the most commonly used size. Hope this helps 😀
i really wish they would make a sealed motor box. i dont know what they where thinking when they made all the holes around the spur gear. it should ether be completely open or closed. and plastic/composite rod end balls is really dumb. i dont know any rc car ever other than arrma that has done this.
Hi there. To be fair the new one is pretty good at keeping the dirt out and I haven't really had a problem. With the pivot balls I guess it just comes down to cost. They are a bit rubbish though! Many thanks for your feedback 😁

Haven't heard officially yet. Apart from that, hope all is well. Cheers for watching and your comments matey. I'm just catching up with Top Gear as I've missed all of this series so far. Cheers for now 😀
@@PeteWylieRC Hehe - yes matron, I always watch every minute of you vids! Yeah, a little vice is essential! I can't believe we are being locked down again - and I'm worried about getting it from school, especially because of Louise and her high risk. It's a bloody nightmare, mate! Oh well, keep calm and keep going. Hope you can stay safe if you have to keep working. Enjoy your Top Gear binge, it's really very good. All the best to you too, matey - cheers! :-)
@@MarkBryanRC I know, I can't see it reducing the infection rate too much if the kids are still mixing at school. I guess you just have to do what you can with masks and handwashing and distance but I'm guessing it's impossible to be very far away. With my job I can keep away from people pretty well. Would still rather be home building kits for a month! Yeah the first two Top Gears were very good. That wall of death looked scary. Also, what about smashing that Diablo? I bet the owner was pissed off! Anyway, take it easy mate and stay as safe as you possibly can :-)
Another great load of info dude. Nice one👍
Hiya Barry. Yeah I possibly put a bit much in one video as it was never meant to be this long! People can always skip forward. Hope you are ok mate. Many thanks for watching and your comments 😀
Great video, I just got the V3 Senton and love it. Do you have the part # for the HR pivot balls by any chance. Cheers and stay safe!
Hi there. It's ATF160B02. Thanks for watching and your kind comments :-)
Open ur box.. Get in the bag where all your papers should be.. You will have a whole pictured diagram of every part on this truck!!
@@elizabethbumgarner6267 he was referring to a aftermarket part , the HR pivot balls and metal as apposed to composite that comes on the 3s range . There not very good at all to be frank with you , but the HR parts are a decent little upgrade that takes away slop from suspension and steering .
I liked and subscribed. Very interesting and very informative. I'm watching all your Senton and granite 3S videos because I will be getting one after the Holidays. Just can't make up my mind on which one to get. Any suggestion would be great. Keep up the good work. Just wondering why would someone give you a thumbs down. this video does not deserve it. IMO
Hi there. That's good to know that the video is useful. Many thanks for the feedback. Hope you enjoy yours when you get it. As to which one it depends on the type of driving you like to do. As I mention in the video I like the Granite the best as it's the most fun. Thanks again for the like and sub 😁
You should compress and uncompress the shock after you fill it with oil to remove trapped air before you put the cap on
Oh yeah I should have mentioned that. Many thanks for your great feedback 😁👍
We shall see if it makes any difference. Take it easy my friend 😀
@@PeteWylieRC hmmm .. well hardly seems like a shut down, is right... I guess they see it as helping?? Thankfully not a decision, that falls on my shoulders... lol
I like the look of those shocks though and I think they would work pretty good. For a couple reasons first of all, the fine thread which seems to be nice and long, Second the oring placements ... I know you may have mentioned it but it would seem to be pretty good against leaking? thamks :)
Hi Pete another great video and great tips and advice from the master Basher! I noticed your friend Ricco and his 4 legged friend was getting a work out chasing the Granite up the slope. Excellent work. Keep well and safe, until next time 😉
Hiya John. Yeah I thought I'd do another how to vid on this as the unboxing and top tips did pretty well. Yeah Ric's dog Leeloo got in on the action as usual. Many thanks for watching matey. You stay safe too 😃
I’m going to implement some of these ideas on mine.
Grease is a good sealer in some situations, but you may want to use a light weight silicone for cars. Won’t hold on to the dirt as well. This is only my opinion, your way may be better. Great video!
Hi there. Yeah you are probably right. I will give it a try next time I have it apart. Many thanks 😁
Thanks for the video. Can you put the links for the product you use for seal.
Hi. Not sure what you mean.
Great videos Pete . I'm brand new , just got the red Senton you have been working on .
Could someone achieve somewhat similar results , less rolling over , without
sacrificing suspension travel , by using harder , less grippy tires ? I dont trust
myself to perform surgery on my truck yet .
Hi there. Yeah you are right to say that if the car looses traction then it will slide rather than roll. Rather than change the tyres, just find some slippery wet ground 😁 Many thanks for watching 😀
Don't drive so fast 😂😂😂
Decent informative video - thank you. During the short clip of the Typhon, there was some kind of track. Where is that?
Hi there. The track was the Bournemouth BMX track at Iford. That's where I broke the rear shock tower on my Granite and Nick broke the front one on his Typhon so probably going to stick to the soft grassy landings in the forest! Many thanks for your kind comments 😀
Pete Wylie RC Videos ah! Miles away from me. Thanks anyway. 👍🏽
Now that does sound beastly! :-)
Thank you!!
Kind regards from Germany 👍✌️
Thanks for commenting. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
What the advantages of using different tooth pinion gears what one does it come stock with and what ones does it come with
Basically more teeth on the pinion gives a higher gear so higher top speed with slower acceleration.
@@PeteWylieRC perfect thank you
I own a Senton.
Granite's are a blast . Easy to fix and the battery cost is low .
Yeah I love the Granite. I was running mine today. Such fun. Thanks for your great feedback 🙂
When your first motor went bad was it covered under warranty
Hi there. Yeah I sent the motor back to Modelsport where I bought the Senton and they sent me out a new one. You can probably deal with Horizon directly but I think that the retailer should be able to sort out warranty things.
Brilliant video just wished I had watched it before taking out my nice new shinny senton
First run have cracked ever corner.
How have you found the number plate gorilla tape.
Did you put the number plate tape down first then go over it with the gorilla tape
Really helpful videos keep up the good work
New sub 👍
I just converted my Senton mega to brushless!
Good call. I think these benefit from the extra power. Many thanks for your feedback 😀
@@PeteWylieRC I am still gonna race it on 2s but when I’m just bashing around 3s
Hey I have a question, I have a senton and I wanna replace the servo, did you go with coreless or brushless? And is the aluminum shocks worth it? They are kinda expensive
The servo is the JX Ecoboost 21kg. I'm not sure what technology it uses. The stock shocks are fine to be honest and the version 3 ones don't seem to leak.
love the senton vids
Many thanks indeed 😁
what sounds does your senton make when you roll the car while its turned off? aka what is the normal sound of the truck?
Hi there. Difficult to describe really. Just a general clattering of gears. I'm going to do another video of tips so I'll try to remember to demonstrate what it sounds like. Do you think that yours is too noisy then?
I’m looking to get into rc is the arma senton good for beginners
Drywall tape and Shoe Goo makes the body tough as nails
Yeah I did have a go with that a few years back and it did work well. Many thanks for your feedback :-)
No way dude mine had exactly the same problem...3 weeks/3 hours from new...arrma have my motor now so fingers crossed
What KG size did you get for the JX Ecoboost Servo? Thank you
Hi there. It's the 21kg one. Thanks for watching 😀
Right On! I just became an owner of a heavily used one, so I’m cleaning it up and I might as well put some of your upgrade suggestions in it.
What's the stock gears pitch spur count and pinion size please
Hi there. Gears are 0.8 mod. Spur is 57 tooth. Pinion on Senton is 20 tooth. Pinion on the other 3s cars is 15 tooth. Thanks for watching 😀
I had the same truck.an I like my truck it’s fast 💨
Hi there. Yeah these 3s cars are really good. Thanks for watching 😁
Nice video
Many thanks for your feedback 😁
Is there any way you could message me personally or something along those lines I need a little help with learning more about the armor set in 3s maybe you could make a video or two on them
I've done a fair few on the Senton and I'm going to be doing more about the range in general. What sort of information are you wanting?
Is 50wt oil for my v3 senton shoxs good ?? Or is it to low
Yeah that should be about right. A bit heavier than stock but not too much.
Im sorry this might be a stupid question but does it work with a ec5 connector
Hi there. Yes it does. I talked about the battery plug a bit in the unboxing video. You can use an ic5 or ec5. Thanks for watching 😀
Thanks your the best
What is the part# for the drive shaft

Yeah I hose down the cars and then I've got an air blower to dry them. WD40 on the bearings is a good idea. Before you run it next time, make sure you can still push it forwards and backwards freely 👍👍

Is there any servos I can just replace mine with a 23tooth
@@PeteWylieRC the motor cogs bad on mine even after horizon sent me a new esc and motor. not sure if they fixed that or not. all this is why i would not buy a senton again. i was gonna buy a pro sc10 when i bought this now i wish i would have its just a better sct especially on the track.

My son blx when you full throttle it the car locks down like it shuts off
Hi. Not sure about that. Is it a decent lipo pack that you are using ? Also might be worth going through the set-up of the throttle on the radio gear. It's in the instructions somewhere. Otherwise I'm not really sure. Be worth contacting the place you bought it or Horizon Hobbies who own Arrma.
yea new battery smart one the truck sounds bad when it is going also like it surging for power
May be a dodgy ESC. My first one on the Granite went wrong and got replaced on the warranty. Best to contact the seller like I say. Good luck.
Just an fyi. If you remove the battery mount thing it is VERY annoying first time.
Hi there. Sorry I'm not quite understanding what you are telling me. Can you explain please. Thanks 👍

@@tylerbowers6378 ah yeah that bit can be a bit sticky. Cheers for the feedback 😁
Why do they build the drive unit open on the bottom..... So unnecessary....
Yeah I know, they could have it perfectly sealed and it would only be very slightly higher. I'm sure that there is a reason but I can't think of it!. Thanks for watching :-)
Damn, it seems like you have to thread lock everything on this vehicle, seems like they should do all this at the factory!!
