Thank you for acknowledging Ni function in INFPs positively. In Socionics, it is our Demonstrative Function with 4D strength, but we still prefer Ne, since Ne is more comfortable and supportive for our Si Child.
Somehow Ni in INFPs appears stronger among those who were raised in abusive or alcoholic family. Those INFP individuals using Ni to anticipate moods and behaviors of their abusers.
Hopefully I can include John Beebe's comments about it next time.

I just discovered this very thing about myself. I was surprised to find I tested as having Ni more developed than Ne. My Fi was of course the strongest followed by Ti, Ni, Ne, Fe, Si, Se, Te. My childhood was rough and confusing when I was young and little. Lots of physical abuse and humiliation. Then I became rebellious and as a teenager it was like a constant war zone in my house.

@@alisonfisher1877 Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Here are what John Beebe had said about developing 6th function caused by bad childhood...
" Some children from early adolescence choose to become the
spiritus rectors of their families, and that can sometimes develop the Senex or Witch in a positive way, producing a precocious Wise Old Man or Woman at a very early age to take charge of the family and offset the unwisdom of parents. But other children at risk (especially adult children of alcoholics) develop the function-attitudes associated with Senex or Witch more negatively and become in mid-adolescence Withering Authorities looking down on their parents with contempt and shaming them. "
And Introverted Intuition ( Ni ) is INFPs' 6th function.
BTW, I take that from John Beebe's own answer to someone's personal question about how bad childhood influencing the development of shadow functions in an individual.

I can see that - gotta be on the lookout. Creates some lopsided behaviors though without Ne.

Quick correction (unnecessary but for the sake of accuracy 🤭) Fi, Ni, Ti, Ne, Fe, Si, Se, Te.

What a lovely and thought provoking video! I just want to say that you have a very good grasp of introverted intuition and characterize it well.
As an INTJ myself, it’s interesting to note how other types can either ignore, undervalue, or simply have to struggle to consciously induce a process that is so innate to my being and way of life. Reaching convergent insights, understanding, piercing the veil to see what lies obscured beneath the surface of reality, reflecting on abstract ideas and accessing the unconscious, these are the primary ways in which I operate, often which are autonomous processes which arise from within my mind. There is a great value to be gained from this sort of meta-analysis of the world and self, the philosophical, contemplative, “mystic” or sage-like orientation to living, which is so elucidating and imparts great clarity.
INFPs can certainly benefit from adapting aspects of this approach, and it does indeed work well in tandem with the nature of dominant Fi, which I can also relate to due to my tertiary Fi, introspecting on my personal beliefs, values, morals, etc and trying to bring that to the fore. Used in tandem with one’s auxiliary function which we naturally value and are driven to utilize, it leads to a much more holistic approach and greater meaning.
All that to say, thank you for this video, and I hope the INFPs (or other types) that watched it found it just as well composed as I did. Definitely gave me something to reflect upon haha

      Thank you ^^
I love how you describe the benefits of Ni.
I think we can all benefit from all the functions - some just have a lot more baggage around them that we have to dig through first.
Appreciating Ni has really made a big difference in my life.

My personal theory is that insufficient Ni is the primary scapegoat of the INFP - the thing that we most immediately assume is to blame when anything goes wrong. “We should have anticipated/seen this coming.”
In my experience, the importance and correct use of this function (slot 6) is the lesson that we are always learning/re-learning in life.

And yet my approach is often, “if I just imagine more diverse possibilities then I’m bound to land on the right one!” lol
Always learning and re-learning. Love it.

The problem with me is that I feel like my "intuition" is off due to trauma. Sometimes I can't tell between the inner knowing and trauma. I have been doing journaling and attending some hypnotherapy sessions to help. I guess it takes some time...

It doesn’t have to take time to change what’s going on inside. The environment might take time to adjust to the updated version of you though.
      Keep at it!
Traumatic experiences can be packed with lessons.

I'm so lost in life! 😞 Btw, had some kind of Japanese soup the other night. It had rubbery mushrooms and seaweed. Yuck, lol. I didn't expect the mochi to have icecream inside... the outside was like an uncooked dough. What the heck haha. Wait what? Hypnosis. What? Yes! Please!
